Ski touring

Hi Xeliff, I see you've been working on Ski touring, thanks for that. Your edit of 6 December 2012‎ states "I reverted this edit because it deleted a huge amount of specifics about ski touring areas. This is useful and interesting information that should be retained. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be here. The more minor edits were good." When you say "I've reverted this edit", exactly which edit did you revert? I ask because the current version of the article is not exactly like any previous version. Hi Cornellier, I had to go back a ways to find the big edit. I tried to keep the minor edits he made by re-adding them to the reversion. Hi, thanks for your reply. It's not clear to me what you do and do not want in the article. You wrote "I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be here". But the reason is right in the article. It's had a cleanup flag on it since 2008. This long and rambling article has only three references, all of which point to the same website. The article contains about 20 sections of wholly unreferenced text. You restored, for example: "Needless to say, backcountry skiing can also be done in Perú and Bolivia." How is this appropriate? Obviously Peru and Bolivia have mountains and snow. This kind of thing needs to be edited. This article is about an interesting topic and it needs a lot of work to bring it up to scratch, but that's not going to be possible if edits are being reverted six months after the fact without any real explanation. It's going to be very difficult to edit collaboratively under these circumstances. So which info is it that you want to keep, and can references be found for that info? I get that you wanted "specifics about ski touring areas" but wikipedia policy is that info is supposed to be referenced and written in an encyclopedic manner. The minor edits were all fine and I tried to restore some of those, but my priority was to save the regional information. Sorry about the 6 month lag. I tend to check this page in the winter, not the summer. When I do, one of the things I really like to see is what others have added about various ski-touring locations. I find it very useful, personally. I agree the article needs editing and I appreciate your efforts, but this is not a scholarly topic so the amount of reference material is always going to be limited. I don't think that justifies tossing big pieces out. I'll do some serious hunting for references to add when I get the chance, if that would make you happier with this section. As for the mention of Peru and Bolivia, I agree this is sparse and should be expanded, but your assumption that ski-touring obviously happens wherever there are mountains and snow is really not correct.
