I work for Brown Skin Brunchin’, the subject of this draft article. To my best ability, I tried to follow Wikipedia content policies and guidelines WP:POLICYLIST, and will follow all Wikipedia conflict of interest policies in connection to any article about the company. @Netherzone:. I wanted to explain my rationale about the warning box again to see if we can agree. The box suggests a review for neutrality. AfC already assures experienced, independent editors will do such reviews. That’s why I posted it here. The request in the box is therefore superfluous, don’t you think? I received a detailed comment about promotional language thanks to an AfC review and I’ve already made changes to the article in response. And I’ve also prominently disclosed my COI exactly as directed at WP:COI. Again, I am not being paid to contribute to Wikipedia. Therefore, I don’t think I fall under WP:PAID, but even if I do, I’ve disclosed who I work for and my job title here on Talk. The box seems punitive because I have done a proper COI disclosure, unlike most others on AfC. Looking through AfC drafts, it seems obvious that virtually every single one comes from someone with a COI - whether disclosed on Talk or not – and they all need to be reviewed for neutrality. So isn’t it already understood that this is what’s happening on AfC? I’d ask that you remove the box for these reasons. Mediaguru29 (talk) 16:36, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure why I was pinged here, I was not the reviewer/editor who placed the Paid tag on the article (if that is the "box" you are talking about). I simply restored it when you removed it (that should have been done by an unconnected, neutral editor w/o a COI, which is why I replaced it.) If the "box" you are talking about is the large pink box declining the submission, that too was added by another reviewer/editor, and is a normal part of the AfC process. The AfC process takes time, please be patient as there is a months-long backlog at the moment. Netherzone (talk) 17:55, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Apologies Netherzone, it was Theroadislong who placed the “paid” flag, so I’ll address this to them.
According to Wikipedia policy WP:WTRMT, the flag should be removed “When an article talk page discussion has not been initiated (for templates requesting it)” and "If the tagging editor failed to do so, or the discussion is dormant, and there is no other support for the template, it can be removed.” No such discussion on the tag was started here on Talk. I’d ask that you please start one with your reasons for the tag or please remove it. I think having a Talk page discussion about a NPOV review is superfluous when a draft is in the AfC queue waiting for a NPOV review and I have already responded to reviewer requests by doing a revision along these lines. But I’m happy to participate in a discussion here on Talk about the revisions, NPOV and my COI disclosure, which I made here and on my personal user page from the outset. Any discussion that will make the article better is welcome by me. Mediaguru29 (talk) 04:10, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
The tag can be removed once the draft has been accepted, after which you will be required to use the edit request system and not edit the article directly. Theroadislong (talk) 08:40, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mediaguru29, I've tagged this article talk page with the proper Paid COI template. (The note you added could easily be buried in an archive in the TP future, so it's not really sufficient.) Please read, and follow the WP guidance and policies for editors with COI's and PAID COIs. There is also a template you should put on your user page. As described by @Theroadislong, you will also need to stop editing the article directly if it is accepted to mainspace, and instead use the edit request system. Please read the directions in the following link, and understand how this system works: WP:EDITREQ. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Netherzone (talk) 16:13, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
