I don't know what you were thinking here, but please don't. We don't delete user talkpages except in very exceptional circumstances even if the user themselves requests it; we certainly don't delete user talk pages when a random IP posts on a third party's talkpage asking for them to be deleted. ‑ Iridescent08:45, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Hello everyone, and welcome to the July 2016 GOCE newsletter.
June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 12 through 18 June; the themes were video games and Asian geography. Of the 18 editors who signed up, 11 removed 47 articles from the backlog. Barnstars and rollover totals are located here. Thanks to all editors who took part.
Coordinator elections:
The second tranche of Guild coordinators for 2016, who will serve a six-month term until 23:59 UTC on 31 December, have been elected.
Jonesey95 remains as your drama-free Lead Coordinator, and Corinne and Tdslk are your new assistant coordinators. For her long service to the Guild, Miniapolis has been enrolled in the GOCE Hall of Fame. Thanks to everyone who voted in the election; our next scheduled one occurs in December 2016. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.
July Drive:
Our month-long July Copy Editing Backlog Elimination Drive is now underway. Our aim is to remove articles tagged for copy-edit in April, May and June 2015, and to complete all requests on the GOCE Requests page from June 2016. The drive ends at 23:59 on 31 July 2016 (UTC).
Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Corinne and Tdlsk.

A tag has been placed on File:Hollong.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —SpacemanSpiff08:51, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

The "⧼citoid-citefromidtool-title⧽" button in the visual editor's toolbar will move into the "Insert" menu except for Wikipedias, Wikibookses and Wikiversities. This is to make it less prominent on wikis that don't use it as much. [2]

Recent changes
A new image scaler fixed a number of bugs for showing SVG files. Some new problems turned up. [3][4][5]
Notifications are grouped by types. They are now counted by number of notifications and not by unread groups. That change may increase the number of notifications displayed. The earlier way of counting was often incorrect. Unread notifications will also be displayed first. [6][7][8]
Special:Notifications now has a maximum width for the notifications list on desktop computers. This allows long titles and descriptions to be cut properly. Notifications are now also better parsed. [9][10][11]
Problems
On 5 July Wikimedia Commons had problems and could not be edited for 20 minutes. For a short while after that the recent changes log and some gadgets were not working properly. It affected administrative actions on other projects too. [12]
Users who have multiple unread notifications can mark them as read by visiting Special:Notifications page on their wiki.
Changes this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 12 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 13 July. It will be on all wikis from 14 July (calendar).

Hello. When answering edit requests, be sure to set the answered parameter to "yes" to avoid filling the category with answered requests. I'm sure you just forgot, so this is just a reminder. Happy editing! MediaKill13 (talk)14:02, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you tagged Category:Photos uploaded by Nepali keto62 in Commons for speedy deletion under the criteria WP:C1 for template speedy deletion. Please not that this criteria states that it does not apply to disambiguation categories, category redirects, featured topics categories, categories under discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. Clearly this category is already under the discussion for deletion. Since you're new here, I suggest you to read Criteria for speedy deletion thoroughly before tagging any articles for speedy deletion. Or otherwise, I advise you to just focus on content addition rather than tagging for speedy deletion because this is a task for an experienced users. Thanks Ayub407talk17:20, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the European Union law article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. --Laser brain(talk)15:46, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

The Userpage Barnstar
I take great pleasure in awarding you this barnstar for the wonderful creation and accumulation of many useful resources. Regards, KCVelaga☚╣✉╠☛14:10, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
Ah. That's not an edit-counter per se - that's code which works in conjuction with this page (days my account has been active) and this page (number of edits I've made) to produce this page (average number of edits per day). The first page updates automatically; the edit count I have to update manually to get an accurate average. As for the code, as I recall when I first found it the instructions specified that it was to be placed as a separate page linked from my userpage. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa.08:07, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

I see you've starting work with AfCs, and accepted one of them Puente Alto - El Volcan Railway--one that was indeed suitable for acceptance, and that you then improved it, which is very good work. However, you seem to have moved it by copypaste. This is not a good idea, because it can destroy attribution and leaves too many loose ends behind. The only really practical way of dealing with AfCs is through the AFC Helper Script, as explained at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing instructions. There is indeed a proper way of doing it manually, which I sometimes use myself, but it is rather complicated. (I've been doing this for years, and have learned the various details of this over time). I'm going to clean up after you. It's going to be a little complicated, alas. The detailed attribution of your edits will be on the page from the redirect (I changed the title to Puente Alto-El Volcan Railway --we use an en dash without spaces in this sort of title. The WP:MOS is very complicated, but you do at some point need to start reading it.)
If you want to review further, please read carefully every part of the linked pages at WP:AFCR Remember in particular that it often helps to give a customized reason to the user instead of or in addition to the scripted message if you are turning something down. I suggest that you do AfC reviews very slowly and carefully and only in obvious cases until you get more experience. DGG ( talk ) 23:26, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
