Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

@70.95.147.19: What did I do wrong? Your edit (diff) which I reverted, was made in good faith, although not necessarily compliant with Wikipedia's manual of style, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (so does not focus heavily on practical advice) and does not address the reader in second person. Edits to Oakland A's local radio section on MLB 2020 page

Hi,

I was reading the MLB 2020 page today and found the Oakland A's local radio section very poorly written, hard to follow, overlong, and riddled with grammatical errors. As this is Wikipedia, I decided to edit the section for clarity. I'm sorry I neglected to leave a comment explaining that that's what I did. You may want to read the existing version and my edited version side by side and see what you think.

Thanks,

Scott — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.93.216.35 (talk) 22:24, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
@73.93.216.35: Scott, thank you for your contributions. I misread the history on the 2020 Major League Baseball season article, and did not realize you had replaced the content (diff) with a much better written section than simply deleting the old section. I have restored your work (diff), so it is not gone and is available for all to see. I hope you will forgive me for this mistake on my part.Thank you, and welcome to Wikipedia. Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 03:53, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

No problem, thank you! It was my mistake also, I accidentally deleted the old section rather than simply replacing it.

Thanks for restoring the changes! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.93.216.35 (talk) 16:55, 24 February 2020 (UTC) {{archive now}}

Rollback granted

Hi Tridwoxi. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! – Juliancolton | Talk 16:58, 24 February 2020 (UTC) {{archive now}}

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

I see you recently accepted a pending change to February 28 that did not include a direct source.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the edit notice on that page, the content guideline and/or the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. All new additions without references are now being either reverted on-sight or in some cases where the patroller is especially motivated, immediately sourced. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out.

All the pages in the Days of the Year project have had pending changes protection turned on to prevent vandalism and further addition of entries without direct sources. As a pending changes patroller, please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you and please keep up your good work! My edits of John L. Lewis's Wiki Page

I did not add any sort of hoax or false information. We are studying Lewis at Sawyer University (in Vasey) on our a module of out Modern History degree and this information was all found in Ian Brook's 2001 textbook 'American Strides in the Early 20th Century.' I consulted my lecturer, Becky Williams, before making any edits to see if the source was credible and she checked around the history department and all professors seemed to agree that this was a real source. The information I added was only added because I thought it was valuable and interesting, and if it seems the opposite to you I suggest you should contact Brook and his publishers and consult him yourself over this. I was only trying to help students like myself. Raymondocarling (talk) 11:42, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Raymondocarling: Your edits, while possible, state that John L. Lewis went on a pirate adventure (diff), had a wife addicted to cocaine and used it himself (diff), mined coal in a volcano- themed area (diff), and retired partially from pirates (diff). All of this is unlikely given his position at the time. Furthermore, the source you cited in this edit (diff) "American Strides in the Early 20th Century' by Ian Brook" does not seem to exist as a web search does not turn up any related results. If you would like to cite your claims to make sure they are verifiable, then you can re-add it. Thank you. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 12:00, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited DAPI, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Intercalation (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "T4qJWsddrIiNrANkwo1l". The reason given for T4qJWsddrIiNrANkwo1l's block is: "not a legitimate alternative account".

Accept reason: Autoblock cleared. Bbb23 (talk) 01:56, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

For contex, I had registered T4qJWsddrIiNrANkwo1l when I was unfamiliar with Wikipedia's policies on sockpuppetry. T4qJWsddrIiNrANkwo1l's only actions have been a brief stint in RCP, removing vandalism when I was unable to access this main account, and use as a place to test out Twinkle's functions before I found User:Sandbox for user warnings. That account was never intended to be used for sockpuppetry, and had the User alternative account banner declaring it was mine. Bbb23‬ later blocked the account for not being a legitimate alternate account, as I had no reasons for its use (I no longer use it as a sandbox, use it to test Twinkle's functions, and stopped using it to actually edit when other editors contacted me about in edits like Diff/934537548), and because its name was terrible. That was discussed in our conversation, which ended in Diff/947877240. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 01:06, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
My apologies. I reblocked the other account without the autoblock checked. It should work for you. If not, let me or another admin know if I'm not around. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:46, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Source for Dorian retired

Where is the source for Dorian retired? I really need it on the page. I couldn't find any, but could someone like you find one for me? Please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:401:C401:9850:ED3E:B101:670E:8336 (talk) 20:58, 31 March 2020 (UTC) I alredy did in the world of nonexistence. Sorry you wont fool us. Sorry mate, that's not how Wikipedia works. You find a source before you make the edit, not after it. Plus, you won't find anything since it's unofficial. :I

Hurricaneboy23 (Page) On storm2k someone said that a trusted source of theirs said that retirement is postponed for a year. ... They are Just going to have more names to reitre. Our 2019 trio and Unknown name (s) form 2020 They had a meeting today... 2A02:A314:247:CD80:B4C5:9356:A72F:C13C (talk) 21:08, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

They say they have a "reliable" source, yet they don't even post the "source" itself. They're really just making stuff up. Only rely on actual info posted by the WMO. Hurricaneboy23 (Page)

Did they reitre anything? Nothing yet I waited for the whole day stressed... The one that made the topic is FAKE storm2k person might be real... Sersly was anything retired no annocments its getting late... 2A02:A314:247:CD80:B4C5:9356:A72F:C13C (talk) 21:14, 31 March 2020 (UTC) Okay bye...

21:20, 31 March 2020 (UTC)2A02:A314:247:CD80:B4C5:9356:A72F:C13C (talk)

Comment - As one of Wikipedia's main editors on tropical cyclone naming, I can tell you that there is no reason to get stressed over the retired names being announced immediately. In fact, the WMO doesn't always announce them until the final report of the meeting is released or what names are replacing them until the year after retiring them. Just have some patience and don't get stressed about it - it really isn't worth it especially as you never know they may have ripped the list up and decided to combine it with Europe's list of names for signifcant LPA's.Jason Rees (talk) 21:34, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Another comment I'd like to note that we have a policy located here that states The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution, thus Hurricaneboy23 is correct here. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 21:35, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

WMO you made it harder for youselves The trio and 2020 retired names at one meeting... That's gonna be a ride... poor wester pacific rumbia and manguht will be replaced by exsitence — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A314:247:CD80:B4C5:9356:A72F:C13C (talk) 21:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

We'll just have to wait and see if an announcement comes out. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 21:49, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Appereanlty nothing got retired. Dorian was historic. Just do the deed. We know alredy its a gonner. Please dont snub any storms and trick us by retired them in 2021... We Just want Imelda and Lorenzo gone. 2A02:A314:247:CD80:B4C5:9356:A72F:C13C (talk) 21:53, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

It may be that we want to have something done and it is likely to be done, but we just cannot take any action without a formal declaration. We've even got a source, so I understand why you can feel this way, but nothing's official yet, so we cant add anything yet. If any announcements happen, there shall be attempts to update the article - but for now, we can only wait. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 21:59, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Im sorry but Wikipedia works on facts not speculation and you presume that Dorian, Imelda and Lorenzo are historic enough to be retired but remember Gordon 1994 was not retired despite killing over 1000 people. Also, as i said earlier, there is no reason to get stressed over the retired names being announced immediately, since the WMO doesnt always announce them immediately. As for your point about the number of storms being retired, I will point out that the RA V TCC always considers two seasons at a time, while the hurricane committee has considered more than 6 names at once before now. On a side note @Tridwoxi: We now have an unofficial source telling us that there were no names retired this year.Jason Rees (talk) 22:09, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Haiti didnt send a delegate then. Sothern hemisphere has season that last for 2 years. More than 6 names? 6 at Best... If you count 2010 indeed its Alex, Karl, Matthew Hermine and two retired names but where is more than 6? I'm WAITING FOR an annnocment today or tommorow. Who knows they might be doing April Fools retiremnt edition. And I think So but if its postponed they both might be snubbed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A314:247:CD80:75DD:3D1F:463A:8CB5 (talk) 13:56, 1 April 2020 (UTC) {{archive now}}

Woerich, Thanks for explaining. I'll watch the page and add another note to their page. ~ Tridwoxi (talk) (contribs) 00:43, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
