Hi, thanks for speaking to me on IRC.
As you'll see, I've made lots of edits to the article.
Please read about neutrality, conflict of interest, and autobiographies.
Please do try to add additional references to appropriate reliable sources;
How references work |
---|
Simple referenceseditThese require two parts;
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
== References == {{reflist}} (an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections) To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Trent B Copeland/reftest and try it out. Named referenceseditChzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook"> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/> Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result. Citation templateseditYou can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look; Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4 }} </ref> Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result. For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs. |
For more help, you can either;
- Leave a message on my own talk page;
OR
- Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end;
OR
- Talk to us live, with this or this.
- Cheers, Chzz ► 16:43, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. it would be nice if you could add a picture. Upload it at commons:upload as e.g. "Trent Copeland headshot.jpg" and then change the currently-empty parameter near the top;

editYou should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at Trent Copeland (lawyer). This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.
Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 17:14, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- RadioFan, the article is referenced, the subject meets the notability guidelines - it certainly is not a speedy deletion candidate. Writing an autobiographical article is strongly discouraged, not verboten; the user is being cooperative and considerate of our policies. Also note that I have extensively edited the article myself, and I have no COI. I have removed the tags; the references seem to be reliable sources and it is neutral. Chzz ► 20:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

- Now archived, in User talk:Chzz/Archive 22#Trent Copeland (lawyer) - but please don't edit that page; to contact me again, please start a new section on my talk. Chzz ► 10:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
