Gunhawk
editHi. Gunhawk, created by Joe Maneeley in the 1950s, is an unnamed bounty Hunter and not Reno Jones of The Gunhawks. Reno Jones survives Blaze of Glory but Caleb Hammer shoots Gunhawk dead in Blaze of Glory. Two different people. Could you restore Gunhawk so it doesn’t redirect to The Gunhawks? —Make Mine 90s Marvel (talk) 14:34, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- My apologies! @Make Mine 90s Marvel I've undone my edit, you'll likely be challenged about the lack of sources on the article, and lack of categories, so be sure to add those. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 15:06, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Thief-River-Faller! I will do all that, as you say. I thought a stub was, but you are right it was confusing and I should write something more. —Make Mine 90s Marvel (talk) 21:25, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

editAn article you recently created, Rush Creek (Texas), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Speedy deletion nomination of 2021 in Vatican City
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 2021 in Vatican City requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2021-01/vatican-museums-reopening-february-barbara-jatta.html, https://www.reuters.com/article/vatican-australia-idINKBN29C1PV, and https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/246311/cardinal-parolin-brings-message-of-peace-and-reconciliation-to-cameroon. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fram (talk) 13:33, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Fram, this used text from the Current Events portal, are we really using copyrighted text on that page also? I've made some slight adjustments, one of the links is claiming the term 'vatican city state' as the reason for the detection which seems a bit ridiculous. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 13:42, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sure looks that way (if you create a page copying text from e.g. that portal, you need to say so in the edit summary: both for attribution purposes, and because people then can know that the problem is not with your edit, but with the source for them). I have listed 3 instances of copyvio, there are probably more (would be quite a coincidence that I just spotted all copyvio lines). Fram (talk) 13:47, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- I've gone through and fixed the three listed (rephrasing and deleting un-needed detail), one confusing phrase on the Duplicate detector is 'cardinal parolin brings message of peace and reconciliation to cameroon' which no longer appears in my article, do you have any idea why that would still be flagged? Thief-River-Faller (talk) 13:53, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. E.g. the last entry is partially a straight copy of this, the 20 September entry is straight from this... I hope we haven't uncovered some widespread issue with the Portal:Current Events pages! Fram (talk) 14:05, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- So do I, Fram! TRF, as Fram says here, and I've said at Talk:2021 in Vatican City, under the terms of our licence, copying within Wikipedia requires attribution. If at any time, recent or not, you have copied Wikipedia content into other Wikipedia pages, please now provide the necessary attribution. The preferred method for this is with a {{copied}} template on the talk-page of both the articles, but a dummy edit with a summary along the lines of "content from revision xxxxx of [article foo] was copied here in revision yyyyy" is probably sufficient for limited amounts of copying. Of course if the copied content is in fact a copyvio then it'll have to be removed from both pages anyway. As for 2021 in Vatican City, there's a link in the blanking template to a temporary rewrite page; if you decide to rewrite, please don't copy over any compromised content from the current version of the article, as that will render your rewrite unusable. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:31, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation @Justlettersandnumbers, i'll go through and add in the template to any pages I've recently created, there's only a small amount where I've copied over information from the portal, most of the pages have very 'straight to the point' headlines that I typed up, but I know there's a select few where I copied over information.
- I'll also completely re-write the Vatican article..I don't know whether to feel guilty or happy that we've discovered this wider issue, but I do appreciate you explaining the issues, I'll know not to copy/paste from the portal moving forward. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 14:44, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Hi Thief-River-Faller! Thank you for your edits to 2020 in Antigua and Barbuda. It looks like you've copied or moved text from COVID-19 pandemic in Antigua and Barbuda into that page, and while you are welcome to re-use the content, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. If you've copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 04:58, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

2023 in the Philippines
editThank you very much for your contributions to 2023 in the Philippines, particularly mirroring them with Philippines-related entries on Portal:Current events. We appreciate it if you can continue with those contributions. But first, here are a few pointers:
- Please use Template:Cite news for your citations and please follow the consistency of the date format on Philippines-related pages (MM-DD-YYYY). The format also applies to citations.
- If the entry is part of a larger event, similar to the current events portal, please link it this way.
- I commend you for writing your entries in present tense, just like the current events portal.
- Please be more mindful with your edits, including your citations. Ensure that you preview your edits and review them (especially your citations) before saving them.
- In connection to #4, kindly ensure that there are no redundancies when mirroring entries from the current events portal to 2023 in the Philippines. For example, with this edit , I removed "Philippines" (and replaced it with the province instead) since the context of the page is the Philippines anyways.
Thanks for taking your time to read this. Kindly also check the link in #2 to visualize my pointers. Cheers! signed, Pat talk 08:05, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into 2023 in Ukraine. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:57, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Crystal balling and advertising
editAdvertising future wrestling shows is not permitted as you did on Professional wrestling in Australia in adding next month's New Japan show in Sydney. I have removed it. It is also crystal balling which is also not permitted. Without secondary and reliable coverage pre show, there is no guarantee the show will take place. You can add it after the show takes place where such rules no longer apply. Addicted4517 (talk) 08:58, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

editHello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 16:06, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

The article Abror Tursunov has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Subject isn't notable, filmography is sourced to a user generated source, and overall a short page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. BlakeIsHereStudios (talk) 12:04, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Ammon Jeffs
editHello Thief-River-Faller, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ammon Jeffs, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ammon Jeffs.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Clearfrienda}}

Re: Viva Van
editHi, thank you for your contributions to the article. Look, I'll be the first to admit that unilaterally recreating an article that was deleted via a deletion discussion was not the best step. (Fortunately GhostOfDanGurney was generous enough to reach out to me and open another discussion; they were far more kind that I've seen in past similar situations.) That being said, I also think that the article and its initial deletion had a stroke of bad timing; for example IIRC the high-profile CMLL title match came after the article was nominated for deletion, and the start of her recurring appearances in AEW (and Dynamite debut) came once it was already deleted. Don't worry, I'll be looking out for it. EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 11:38, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Well, looks like the article will be kept! Though I think all credit is due (and congratulations are in order) to @KatoKungLee:, they found the sources that convinced those opposed against keeping it to reverse their votes. EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 15:16, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- Not a problem, happy to help out KatoKungLee (talk) 15:59, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- Great job coming across those references at the last minute @KatoKungLee! Really happy we were able to salvage that one, now my only fight is trying to find sources for Gringo Loco which has just been AFD'd, although Kato you've made your point it shouldn't have been nominated, I'm hoping others weigh in on that on. Ways to improve Helaman Jeffs
editHello, Thief-River-Faller,
Thank you for creating Helaman Jeffs.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
There is an argument that Helaman Jeffs' notability is a case of WP:BLP1E (i.e. it is due to the imprisonment of Warren), and this article might end up being re-directed/merged to Warren Jeffs BLPs. The more you can find WP:SIGCOV pieces that are just on Helaman, the better the chance of confirming his own standalone notability. thanks.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}

Deletion discussion about Helaman Jeffs
editHello Thief-River-Faller, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Helaman Jeffs, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Helaman Jeffs.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|CFA}}
. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Ongoing duplication
editReiterating for the last time my warning against inserting content without practicing due diligence. I have reverted these edits: ([3] and [4]) of yours in 2024 in Mexico for what are clearly duplicate and falsely dated events, not to mention similar occurrences in related articles. If this is to be repeated again I'm afraid I would have to report you to ANI. Borgenland (talk) 15:20, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Borgenland, did you post this today, when you leave comments like this, it's always nice to put the correct date. Let me know if you need help navigating and using Wikipedia, I'm always happy to help. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 15:48, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think you may be citing only the time-stamp on the article rather than what is written inside it, and also taking the date of when the incident was announced rather than the day it happened. The article I cited places the date as late on 1 October, but was only publicized the next day. Borgenland (talk) 15:53, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'm talking about the time stamp on your message here on my talk page, it shows '15:20, 11 September 2024 (UTC)' although I just got the notification. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 15:54, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- In that case, you miscounted the death toll for that particular landslide in Vietnam with the nationwide death toll caused by Typhoon Yagi. Borgenland (talk) 16:01, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- That was my second warning. This one is my third. My first one was in May. I do hope you fix this because I do appreciate your efforts in building up related articles. Borgenland (talk) 16:05, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ah I see you copied the previous warning down, I'll definitely take note of this moving forward, the last thing I want is to break any rules and disrupt anyone else's work, I appreciate you giving me the final warning @Borgenland, I appreciate it. Embassy of Israel, Dublin
editHi Thief-River-Faller. Thank you for creating the Embassy of Israel, Dublin article, which is a useful contribution.
There was one alarming error in it that I have corrected. Your edit said, "In December 2024, Israel announced that its embassy in Ireland would close, citing the governments support for Hamas during the ongoing Israel–Hamas war as the main reason."
Given its own fairly recent experience, Ireland condemns terrorism utterly, and in the past year has made clear, repeatedly, that it condemns Hamas actions.
Current tensions between Ireland and Israel have arisen because Ireland has condemned the extraordinary slaughter in Gaza. The Netanyahu government has construed this as "anti-Semitic", which it is not; the last thing Netanyahu wants is an international spotlight on the indiscriminate murder of 40,000+ civilians, which is a war crime. The "anti-Semitic" slur is a deflection and a red herring. Ireland has also condemned Hamas terrorism and the attack on Israel in October 2023. Spideog (talk) 22:48, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
Please use edit summaries
editHello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account, you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary), and then click the "Save" button.
