De La Soul Barnstar

edit
  The Hip Hop Award
I, KittenKlub, award the Hip Hop Award to Majik43 for rapid addition of De La Soul singles

You can put the barnstar on your userpage. I personally think that good efforts and high quality should be rewarded and all we got is a lousy barnstar :D All good things come in three and I've already given away two barnstars, so it was about time for a third one...

P.S. You can just delete those stupid automated messages from your talk page ;) KittenKlub 22:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music

edit

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:12, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Minstrel show

edit

Hi, Majik43. I recently reverted your edits to minstrel show on the grounds that Little Brother album The Minstrel Show was not that significant in the greater scheme of minstrelsy's legacy (and the article is already overlong). However, I do think it may merit a mention after all. Can you find a source, though, that supports the notion that Little Brother was trying to point out that modern African American entertainment exploits black culture much in the same way that minstrelsy did in the 19th century? I'm trying to keep the referencing on this article as top-notch as possible, so it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, — BrianSmithson 08:07, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Majik43

I am very new to using wikipedia, and so im pretty much learning as i go. I see you have been quite instrumental to a lot of artist's info page, which i think is really cool!! For starters, something i like that i see on some of these pages are the content boxes, how do i make those?

Nicolay page

edit

Hi Majik43

My name is aimeeFlint, i am Nicolay's partner in crime. I am very new to using wikipedia, and so im pretty much learning as i go. I see you have been quite instrumental to a lot of artist's info page, which i think is really cool!! For starters, something i like that i see on some of these pages are the content boxes, how do i make those? Also, is there a way to change if info from Nicolay (producer) to just Nicolay? When doing the searchs for him, there is more clicking than i would like, granted i realize his name isnt just as easy as J Dilla, and does go to the direct page, but when you click Nicolay, then you have to do the search for Nicolay (producer). Let me know, Thanks!!

updates

edit

thanks for the reply and suggestive advice. I am curious though, there was a part that you said was very biased, and the only things i have added text wise was a bio, which states facts & the links that OkayPlayer did themselves, as more of a visual and audio. maybe you are referring to something else? As far as the contents box .. that surfaced on its own.

Thanks again.

Things Fall Apart (album)

edit

Hello, I plan on working on the Things Fall Apart album again very soon, and I was wondering where you got the information you added to the article? I'd like to know so I may properly add references to it. Thanks KOS | talk 14:52, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks I'll scrounge around for my booklet, it's been missing for a while now. As for uploading a sample for a song, I have not done it myself, (btw OrphanBot doesn't delete images, the bot just tags images, see User:OrphanBot) I had a look at your uploads, and for example, "Image:Brown Sugar.ogg" was tagged by OrphanBot with the template "Template:No copyright holder". You must provide the source of the file. Where did you get, what is it, etc etc. I'm not the best with uploads, so beyond this I really don't know anything else about it. Cheers, KOS | talk 12:10, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks and a happy new year :)

edit

It's been too much for me; somehow it feels like it's not worth all the trouble and the fights. I just wanted to write about some stuff which I like; it's that simple, however it seems it's like a continous struggle.

Anyway happy new year. Let it be better than 2006. KittenKlub 17:51, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dilla Beat Tapes

edit

FYI, ALL of the Beat Tapes were available before his death. Questlove has talked of the last three 2005 beat tapes as mini-donuts, which set the stage for donuts. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cosprings (talkcontribs) 14:49, 5 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

I wrote "Only two of these (Unreleased and Vintage) were released during his lifetime with his coordination:". Which means, only two of those were actually released with his permission. So what are you talking about? The Moving Finger Writes 19:24, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yea they're boots, but he knew about them and they were relased before his death. They should be on the page at least for reference for all the people who download them with wrong names, etc.Cosprings 18:48, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fine, he may have known them---but don't just delete the sentence--it's still true that it was his first production after his death. Just fix the bias to it, like i did.Cosprings 05:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

James River (album)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article James River (album), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of James River (album). —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 21:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Jaylibbw.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Jaylibbw.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 05:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of 5 Elementz

edit

A tag has been placed on 5 Elementz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Speedy deletion nomination of File:R-226586-1093109228.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:R-226586-1093109228.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Wheni uk7v.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Wheni uk7v.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:02, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for File:Marvin-soulful-moods.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Marvin-soulful-moods.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Admrboltz (talk) 22:50, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
