Templates

Hi, just to let you know that well-formed references shouldn't be converted to citation templates, as you did here. Many editors dislike the templates (they can cause problems with editing and can slow down page loading), and there's particularly no need for them if references are already written up properly. Cheers, SlimVirgin TALK contribs 21:05, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Also, I see you split up references that others had combined between one set of ref tags, and also caused one ref not to show anymore. And you seem to be doing this elsewhere too. Could you please see WP:CITE on this issue? Citation templates should not be added without talk-page consensus to articles that already use another citation style. That's fine, no worries. The page you mentioned is talking about cleaning up bare URLs, but you are "cleaning up" references that are perfectly fine. :) The problem with adding citation templates inside article texts is that they take up more space, which makes editing the article harder when there are lots of them, and that almost always leads to badly written articles. Articles with lots of templates in them often end up as lists of sentences rather than flowing narratives. The templates also slow down page loading considerably when there are lots of them. It is better and faster to format references manually between ref tags, like this: <ref>Smith, John. ''Name of Book''. Routledge 2009, p. 1.</ref> SlimVirgin TALK contribs 22:09, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
