Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

The Tseng article?
editHello Synergee, I was wondering if we could please get you to join us on the talk page of the Greg Tseng article to see if we could reach a consensus on the proper phrasing for the introduction? Best regards, Luitgard (talk) 02:36, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Welcome
edit- Wow! You're the best! I have to get to work right now, but will respond more tonight. An area that needs improvement on the page are the sources, not sure I understand the notice about that. I have wanted to become part of the community (but have been bitten a few times). Your support encourages me, so thanks for that. :) Synergee (talk) 16:56, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- I am going to read up on some of the help documentation about which sources are best to use. If there is anything specific you suggest, I would be open to it. Mainly I think the page needs some content about the technology they have developed. That's what I find most interesting, IMHO.
Also, I am intrigued by the COI flag that's up. I asked the editor who put there for more information about how he discovered it (no reply yet). How can I learn to spot that as well? I think it could be helpful to know. I appreciate your help today. For a while I was sticking to basic stuff like correcting grammar and links, but I want to help in a bigger way. Working with nice editors makes it more fun! Synergee (talk) 03:02, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, Unfortunately there are all kinds of people on WP and this can result in conflicts and poor behavior. But there are well behaved people here too so try to find projects and people that you enjoy working with.
- One of the core policies of WP is reliable sources per WP:RS. In a nutshell it means newspapers, magazines, books or published research (if they are found on the Internet that's fine) What we try to avoid are self published sources created by the subject or private individuals etc. (these are primary sources). Also our personal knowledge or opinions are not valid reasons for placing text in an article. Also YouTube, IMDB, Twitter, Facebook and other user created sources are generally not valid on WP. An article should be a summary of the reliable (secondary) sources that are available for that topic.
- Also, it would be good to learn how to create a proper citation. For example:
- Should look something like this:
- Whitwam, Ryan (September 20, 2011) How convergent encryption makes Bitcasa’s infinite storage possible Tech Crunch, accessed April 10, 2013
- http://www.extremetech.com/computing/96693-how-convergent-encryption-makes-bitcasas-infinite-storage-possible
- You can get more info at WP:CITE
- I'm going to start a discussion on the talk page about the COI tag as it would be more appropriate to discuss that issue there, so that others can also comment and collaborate with us. See you on the page! -- — Keithbob • Talk • 12:38, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- PS, it appears in your Contribution List that all your edits are marked with a bold M which indicates you have made a Minor Edit. This is a bit misleading since you arealso leaving edit summaries and performing more complex edits. So best to avoid checking the box that says This is a Minor Edit. If the M is showing up anyway, without the box checked then you need to make the change in your Preferences and I can explain how to do that, if that's the case.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 12:46, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- PS a handy tool for formatting citations is Provelt, to turn it on go to PREFERENCES and then to EDITING and check the PROVELT box. -- — Keithbob • Talk • 16:03, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

- Hi, sorry it took a while to answer your question on my page, as I had to remind myself first and then the details were best put at Talk:Bitcasa for you. As Keithbob is more than adequately showing you the ropes, I'll just add to what he's said...don't worry about the WP:COI too much until you have more edits under your belt. If you didn't find the Provelt tool (above)...that's because its in

Hi Synergee. I don't know if you still have the article on your watchlist, but you may have noticed that YouSendIt was renamed to Hightail and the article was moved. I felt a bit guilty by sort of taking away your opportunity to contribute to a Controversy section, but there's a bunch of new sources that could be used to update the article, and I thought if you still had an interest, it would be a good opportunity for you to contribute. A lot of the sources talk about how they are competing with others like DropBox, and it always makes me itchy to contribute in a PR role in a way that adds commentary about competitors. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
