Welcome
Speedy deletion nomination of Vernon Willard Hughes
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Vernon Willard Hughes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your contributed article, Suslin (disambiguation)
Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Suslin (disambiguation). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Suslin. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Suslin - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Aleksa Lukic (talk) 12:04, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

The article Jürg Fröhlich has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- no evidence of notability
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:41, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
The article Wolfgang Krätschmer has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. RadioFan (talk) 19:30, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Edit summaries, multiple consecutive edits
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you.
Another note on editing, if you don't mind: It will also be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. Thanks in advance for considering this. Eric talk 12:25, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

October 2010
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Dennin (crater) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. I see that you added information to Lionel Brough, with a link to another article, but the information is unreferenced in the other article. Do you have a WP:Reliable source showing this information? If so, please add a citation to that source. See WP:CITE. This is very important. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Works written by or about Ronald Brunlees McKerrow at Wikisource
Hello. You have added an External Links section to the page for Ronald Brunlees McKerrow which promises texts in WikiSource. When I click the link, WikiSource tells me that it has no information on McKerrow. Does this link need mending in some way? or should the External Links section be deleted? Copyright problems with Herbert Loewe
Hello. Concerning your contribution, Herbert Loewe, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.jtrails.org.uk/trails/oxford/profiles/c-302/herbert-loewe/. As a copyright violation, Herbert Loewe appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Herbert Loewe has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Herbert Loewe and send an email with the message to permissions-en wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:Herbert Loewe with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Herbert Loewe.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Perseus, Son of Zeus 18:12, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Robert Seiringer
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Robert Seiringer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ~~EBE123~~(talk) 22:36, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Redirect Wikilinks
Hello. I think you shouldn't make edits like this - WP:PIPE states that piping to avoid redirects shouldn't generally be used. Zakhalesh (talk) 13:28, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
When you created Robert Grant (astronomer) you used {{Wikisource1911Enc citation|Grant, Robert}} this has been depreciated in favour of {{Cite EB1911|wstitle=Grant, Robert}} As {{Wikisource1911Enc citation}} is redirected to {{Cite EB1911}} the output is identical but in future the option of passing in an unamed parameter will be removed. This is because having it in complicates the code and prevents error checking. The reason we are using wstitle= is because not all articles are on Wikisource and another option is title= for articles not yet available on wikisource, with further options like url= to allow linking to external versions of an EB1911 article. I have changed the article Robert Grant (astronomer) so that it uses {{Cite EB1911}} but I would appreciate it if in future you were to use it with wstitle=, instead of {{Wikisource1911Enc citation}}. If you copy text from EB1911 there is another template {{1911}} which takes the same parameters as {{Cite EB1911}} but includes an attribution line and places the article into a hidden category indicating that text in the Wikipedia article is copied from EB1911. If you use either please try to include the parameters |volume=vol and |page=pn if you know what they are. -- PBS (talk) 11:16, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
I've just come across another article that you fixed Alexander Keith Johnston (1804–1871). It already had a {{1911}} template on it so all you needed to do was add to in {{1911|wstitle=Johnston, Alexander Keith}}
Unfortunately Wikipedia has just over 10,600 articles with a {{1911}} and no parameters. Many of them were put there years ago before {{1911}} took parameters, before citations were usual and before the guideline WP:PLAGIARISM was written. If you come across one then adding {{1911|wstitle=EB title}} helps the project. If you have a little more time if you can move the template up into the references section and add
;Attribution {{1911|wstitle=EB title|volume=num|pages=nums}}
so much the better.
If you have more time still then adding inline citations helps as well. I have just done so for the article Johnston, Alexander Keith (The changes were smaller than the diffs indicates). If you have any questions on this stuff I will be pleased to answer. -- PBS (talk) 11:41, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
The article Franz Wegner has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Hello. Please notice my recent edits to Anneli Cahn Lax. Under WP:MOS, ranges of years, pages, letters of the alphabet, etc. use an en-dash rather than a hyphen. Thus:
- Right: John Xmith (3 January 1892 – 31 February 1987)
- Wrong: John Xmith (3 January 1892 - 31 February 1987)
(On some browsers you might not see the difference; I suspect on most it will be conspicuous.)
- Right: pages 298–320
- Wrong: pages 298-320

Reworked a bit your contribution to the "Solomon Mikhlin" entry
Hi Suslin (can I call you so?). I'm writing you these few lines just to say that I have reworked a bit your contribution to the entry in object. Precisely I placed the reference to Stummel's review of Mikhlin's book on error analysis in the "Reference" section, to ease multiple referencing: for example I have referenced it in the note on his work on numerical error analysis and also in a few lines of comments I've added as a comment to the reference of the book. I hope you like the present form. Daniele.tampieri (talk) 11:43, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Robert Hermann
Hello.
Please look at this edit. A Wikipedia biographical article should make it clear why a person is notable right at the beginning, before getting in to such details as "He attended this school and that school and got is degree in 1742" etc. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:28, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Suslindisambiguator
Thanks for your work in translating mathematical biographies! But please don't forget that the original articles were written under some license (CC or GFDL), which requires attribution. See WP:COPYWITHIN for this. You can mention the source for the copied article in a first edit, and there is a template Template:Translated page which can be put on the talk page (which you could still do). Also, don't forget to put an interwiki link. I've seen Arthur Sard, but it also concerns Michael Rosen (mathematician), Heinrich Jung, Harry Rauch, Marc Krasner, Robert Hermann (mathematician) and others. --Momotaro (talk) 20:48, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi again! I see you are now using the deprecated Template:German, which is better than nothing, although not really the best way to go in my opinion. But please put interwiki links at least … Thanks, Momotaro (talk) 20:56, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Anastasia (talk) 20:21, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

George Springer
The article on George Springer gives lots of minute biographical details before indicating what he is noted for. A Wikipedia article should say why someone is notable before going into things like that. Can you add something in the first paragraph? Michael Hardy (talk) 18:59, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Moss Sweedler, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.math.cornell.edu/m/People/Faculty/sweedler.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Moss Sweedler
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Moss Sweedler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.math.cornell.edu/m/People/Faculty/sweedler. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
File permission problem with File:Dr. Anne Innis Dagg feeding giraffe at Phoenix Zoo, Mar 2014.png
Thanks for uploading File:Dr. Anne Innis Dagg feeding giraffe at Phoenix Zoo, Mar 2014.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:04, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Authority control
I see you've been adding {{Authority control}} to many articles. This is a good thing; thanks for these edits. But in many cases (especially for articles that have interwikis to other languages) you don't need to include the extra arguments you've been giving it: you can just use the template by itself, with no arguments, and it will find the authority control numbers on Wikidata. When this is true, I think it's better to keep the numbers only on Wikidata rather than making local copies that could get stale or out of synch with the other ones. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:44, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Suslindambiguator, in February 2014 you added some content to T. A. Springer. Including that he was elected to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Entomologist's Monthly Magazine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Robert McLachlan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
