I would like to communicate with you about the problem with Jeff Kripal's name being inserted into so many paragraphs of the Ramakrishna Page

edit

I think it's wrong for Kripal's limited and personal view of Ramakrishna be inserted throughout the article on Ramakrishna. It's a minority view and no other historic or religious figure has such controversal criticism attached to their story. I think the whole article needs to be re-done with most of Kripal's references deleted or demoted to a footnote. His view is not the story of Ramakrishna, and is not even a very well supported view, in the world's conception of Ramakrishna. I am alerting editors who have worked on the Ramakrishna article, to better position Kripal's comments in this article. The article needs a major re-write.

What are your thoughts? Ellis408 (talk) 19:32, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ellis408, I completely agree with you. I have been wanting to get a rewrite but have been unsuccessful. It has to be done and I will do whatever best I can. Sudhavedanta (talk) 05:23, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Kripal is relevant, because his interpretations caused such a stir. WP:CENSOR will not be accepted. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 05:32, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
There are Kripal defenders who will fight any changes, but an honest overview of the Ramakrishna article will show that his opinions are not a major or accepted view of Ramakrishna, and are needlessly scattered throughout the article - really just a promotional push for Kripal and his books. The ONLY reason he gets so much attention is that his views are salacious and sex-oriented. I am hoping other editors will tackle this as a group effort. It's not censoring Kripal, but putting his comments in the appropriate place. Ellis408 (talk) 17:58, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
