U-Vistract---a little help

edit

re U-Vistract I am new to writing articles, and I would appreciate a little more guidance. You ask for more reference. I listed 23. You don't think that is enough? Are there specific parts that you feel are deficient? Thx Camdoc2001 (talk) 02:52, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copied from my talk page. Rich Farmbrough, 03:04, 19th day of January in the year 2011 (UTC).
About thirteen of those references you added are from the cult Bougainville bank, which might be biased towards their cult. Also this reference [1] doesn't have anything to do with U-Vistract. Some Wiki Editor (talk) 11:23, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tarek Naga

edit

FYI, although this article is not an unfixable copyright violation, if you follow the link the proxy did point to User:Aakheperure/Tarek Naga draft, which makes this article a cut and paste move (unless the two accounts are the same editor) which is a copyright problem until it is fixed. Instructions for tagging articles like this for admin attention are at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves. VernoWhitney (talk) 17:51, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Pepsi-Change the Game ads

edit

Hi there, looks like we edit conflicted on this article. While you were CSD'ing it, I was sending it to AfD. I noticed that you nominated under CSD criteria A1, but although I'm not an admin, I don't think A1 applies to this article, as I can tell that it is about a series of advertisements from Pepsi. What do you reckon? Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 01:26, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

And as I was writing this the speedy was declined. Although you are doing good work, please be a little more careful with your CSD tagging. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 01:28, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually, this was a mistaken creation of a userpage by a Swedish user. I'd just restored it to move it and found he'd created a User: page afterwards. Peridon (talk) 11:01, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Dru Hepkins Page

edit

Hi,

We added info to the Dru Hepkins page with several press references in the discussion page, but it still says "add at least one reference". There are 81,500 references to choose from. Can you please help us know ow to proceed. Dru Hepkins is a legitimate candidate for a page but the process is a bit confusing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockult (talkcontribs) 15:37, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you have read the notice, it was a proposed deletion of your article since all biographies must have reliable sources. If you need help finding sources and are sure this person is notable, you can read the page on identifying sources. Also, some other editors have expressed concern that your subject may not meet the notability guidelines. You may also want to read the page on notability. Some Wiki Editor (talk) 15:43, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

He more than meets the guidelines. Even though it's obvious, we've checked that thoroughly before posting. His partners that he's worked with and released music with all have wikipedia pages in tact. Even his own brother has a wikipedia page in tact. Regardless, he keeps being deleted even after referencing the same songs and information. Maybe we're doing some thing wrong? We've provided several press references but maybe we'll add citations as well?Rockult (talk) 16:16, 30 April 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockult (talkcontribs) 16:02, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, you could start by adding the sources, and making sure it is reliable as outlined per the guideline. You will probably also want to file a deletion review since your article was previously deleted. Some Wiki Editor (talk) 16:26, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

So I just about crossed every T and dotted every I on this issue. There is references, listings and press for everything mentioned on the Dru Hepkins page entered in the Talk section. The deletion is sitting there. Any idea what I should do next?Rockult (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd be interested to know why you consider this a hoax. There's quite a few respectable ghits for it. Peridon (talk) 17:26, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

No probs. Incidentally, that trumpet dot something link is dead for me - http://www.enya.org/articles/folk-music-instruments.html works but is only a mention. Peridon (talk) 17:33, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Luke Scott

Hello. I stand by my comment. Luke Scott IS an idiot. He believes the President is not a citizen. He should be called out. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.136.91.254 (talk) 21:43, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Use of rollback

edit

Hi SWE. I just wanted to let you know that using rollback was not the thing to do here. The edit you reverted was not a clear-cut, indisputable edit of vandalism (none of Chris!'s edits are, he's well-established and respected). I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because I see where you revert a lot of vandalism, so this one may have been a slip, but please be more careful in the future. I learned the hard way myself (when I first got rollback rights, I was using it incorrectly and then was subsequently stripped of that permission. I've since gotten it back a long time ago, but still). Thanks. Jrcla2 (talk) 19:21, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reminder, I've now restored his revision of the page. Will attempt to be more careful in the future. Some Wiki Editor (talk) 21:04, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for your help with this page. I've been trying to get something intelligible up on the page as quickly as possible and your tidy up has both saved me a lot of time and given me some clues how to save more in future.Sjwells53 (talk) 18:06, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Anthony Barboza edit

edit

I'm sorry if my edit caused any problems or confusion. I use Lupin's Anti-vandal tool and accidentally hit rollback on the wrong article, namely, the one you had just edited, Anthony Barboza. I apologize for reverting your edits by accident. Chris (talk) 18:15, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

No problems. Although everyone makes mistakes sometimes (including myself), just try to be a bit more careful when using automated or semi-automated tools, especially with regards to things like rollback. Regards, Some Wiki Editor (talk) 18:17, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

GTA 5 Article

edit

The GTA 5 was created by Me. I need the page to be renamed. --Comppro (talk) 23:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Which GTA 5 article? It looks like there is already a GTA disambiguation page, and a Grand Theft Auto (series) page. You may want to add whatever you were trying there instead. Regards, Some Wiki Editor (talk) 23:28, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

But all the games have their own articles. How do I rename a page?--Comppro (talk) 23:30, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Which article in question are you talking about? Does it exist? (e.g. you can't rename GTA 5 because it doesn't exist) Is it move-protected? Anyways, there should be a move tab at the top of the page which you can use to rename - see Wikipedia:Moving a page. Regards, Some Wiki Editor (talk) 23:33, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

List of sunken aircraft carriers

edit

Dear SomeWikiEditor, I guess it was you who edited the "List of sunken aircraft carriers" as follows : "17:43, 4 July 2011 98.218.50.28 (talk) (16,805 bytes) (The plural of aircraft is aircraft. Japanese is a proper noun and should be capitalized)"

Thanks for the correction to "aircrafts", I really didn't know it had an irregular plural form! Thanks a lot. It's always great to learn something new.

About the captalized "Japanese", I'm not quite sure. "Japan" is a noun. "Japanese" in a phrase like "a Japanese did say hello to me" is a noun. "Japanese" in a phrase like "a japanese carrier" or "a japanese aircraft" etc is just an adjective, and as such it should not be capitalized. At least, AFAIK ;-)!!!!! Before I change back the capitalization, could you please be so kind to check if I am correct? I would really appreciate your assistance.

Thanks again

Arturolorioli (talk) 15:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The edit that I made did make is the aircraft correction earlier but I did not make the edit that you mentioned. And yes, Japanese (in that context) is a proper adjective and should be capitalised per proper English grammar. Regards, Some Wiki Editor (talk) 16:45, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, even after years of study english grammar still offers weird surprises sometimes ;-) Nice to learn something new. Thanks again. Arturolorioli (talk) 11:26, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Due Ancore - proposed speedy deletion

edit

I don't understand why my article was proposed for speedy deletion. I am working on it trying to make it informative and neutral and I believe I am following all the guidelines on how to write an article. Compared to other Knife manufacturing companies (the categories section has plenty of examples) my article is quite neutral in my opinion, and similar to many of them. Compare to F.Dick, Global (cutlery), J.A. Henckels, Kershaw Knives and many others in that category. I'd like some feedback instead of plain cancellation proposals. --Crip85 (talk) 07:55, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Contested prods

edit

Hi! Re National Women Of Achievement, Inc., please note that once someone, even the creator of the article, removes the prod tag from an article, the deletion is no longer uncontroversial and therefore cannot be made under WP:PROD. In those cases you should take the article to AFD instead. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 12:16, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reminder. Some Wiki Editor (talk) 20:38, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Template:WikiProject Seychelles

edit

A tag has been placed on Template:WikiProject Seychelles requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
