SMS from Wii

It works just like sending e-mail to a Wii. You can't send an e-mail to a Wii just by typing in the Wii Number in the 'To:' field of your e-mail - you need an actual e-mail address to do this. Well, the Wii does have an e-mail address. The Wii's "e-mail address" is w(wiinumber)@wii.com. So, for example, if your Wii Number is 123456789, then the "e-mail" for the Wii is w123456789@wii.com.

The same goes for cell phone numbers. For example, if your cell phone number is 555-123-4567 and it has text messaging, its "e-mail" would be 5551234567@cingularme.com. Each provider has different addresses, of course, so check on individual sites for more info. Here is the Cingular page explaining it: [1]

Err, that's not really SMS, that's an email-to-SMS forwarding service from phone providers. That doesn't exist outside of the US AFAIK, there's certainly no European phone provider which does it (meaning its inclusion on the European Wii site is certainly spurious). It doesn't constitute SMS messaging support any more than emailing to the phone the DS browser does. Although I'm willing to concede the current wording on the article (future sense) fits with this. My phone happily does SMS to email sending, and AFAIK it happily accepts emails to my O2 email address (though granted, it's not a very memorable address, all numeric characters). Hyperspacey 17:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
