Jonas Brothers

Hi Ryan! I think that would be totally awesome, since I'm really busy with school everyday, but I would like to start a few articles for some singles from Camp Rock (soundtrack) (I actually started that page! :) Anyways, I would like to start several single articles similar to We Rock (Camp Rock song), and it would be awesome if you can help! And I think that there's nothing wrong with liking JB ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 23:56, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Calliegal

Oh, by the way, if you have time, could you please put the episodes in a chart for Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream? Thanks, cuz I don't really know how to do that. ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 00:03, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Calliegal
Okay, thanks. I really suck at putting things in a chart. It'll probably takes me 3 hours. I'm thinking about fixing this too, Sorry (Jonas Brothers song). ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 00:05, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Calliegal
I'm gonna go do some homework right now. I have tons of things to do. Anyways, I just uploaded this: Image:JB Dream.JPG and it's a much better quality. Oh sorry, I meant the episode part of the show. You can do it whenever you have time. I'll ttyl ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 00:16, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Calliegal
So, I kinda fixed "Sorry" a little bit... ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 00:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Calliegal

RE:Help desk revert

No problem, I figured that's what happened, so I reverted and placed it on the main page for you. Oh, and good work on the help desk. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 00:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it looks interesting. I just created an account there. Feel free to make me whatever you want on that wiki. Thanks for the invite! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 00:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit

I notice that you're a PR volunteer. And that you like baseball articles. As such, you could be ideal... for a copyedit of a cricket article. I assume you know little/nothing about the sport, so are ideally placed for helping notice things like jargon not explained on first mention.

Donald Bradman is currently at PR and once it closes (should be in next couple of days) it really needs a final c-e (it's had several already, from various editors) before going to FAC. Could you be that wondrously helpful individual?

Cheers --Dweller (talk) 11:32, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Sure. I will start a little later. I need to be offline for a while. Regards, RyRy5 (talk) 13:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Whoops. I meant to put that on User talk:Razorflame. That's what I get for using a computer with IE7 on it. I really don't like tabbed browsing. I've struck my comment. Useight (talk) 22:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:40, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Reverts

Looking through your recent reverts, everything looked good except for one kind of questionable one here. That one could pass as a good faith edit and probably should've been undid instead of reverted. The rest of the ones I saw looked like definite vandalism and were reverted correctly. Useight (talk) 23:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Probably not, unless some more information can be found that makes that particular single notable. Useight (talk) 00:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Back to the drawing board

It appears the globe stand was from a copyrighted image.

This means we're back to square one.

We need to either find another globe stand, or come up with a new idea altogether for the "Wikipedia World Traveler" award.

I look forward to any ideas you might have.

Re:How Long Have You Been An Editor Tinkleheimer?

My power went off right when you asked that question. Like a lightning bolt came out of nowhere, I don't even think it was raining. Hopefully I didn't seem rude. But to answer your question:

Kate Says I first joined in April of 06. Did some major editing and such in December 06 Jan 07, took a break for awhile, and then started editing again in August of 07, taking a short mini wikibreak sometime in between. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 07:30, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I forgot I asked that question. :P Well, I've been at Wikipedia since February 2008, and, well, I've been active since February 2008. I've amassed over 12500 edits, over 111500 counting deleted. I only have about 4000 edits in the mainspace. Well, quality, not quantity. :) -- RyRy5 (talk) 07:35, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Dear God, Cluebot with a personality. JK :D That sure is a lot of edits though. :) I just broke 2k myself, and that's with help of Twinkle finally working by switching to Firefox.<3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 07:36, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I just switched to firefox, or at least downloaded it, today. Twinkle still works on Safari, but my browser freezes on Wikipedia whenever I use it. I really only use navigation popups and Lupins anti-vandal tool, which I started to use yesterday, well the tool, not the popups. I've been using popups for over a month.\. --RyRy5 (talk) 07:42, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, you got to be careful with these automated systems because without setting a limit on yourself, they can get out of hand. I know this for myself cause I got a little trigger happy just now (WP:RFPP) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 07:45, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I saw. Well, sometimes navigation popups revert another persons revert. Example: I see vandalism, I go revert it, and then this other person reverts it at the same time, and my popups end up reverting the other persons revert. It happens. I think I'll go to IRC. --RyRy5 (talk) 07:49, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

My review

I reviewed your contribs. The page can be found here. If you want to keep the page, feel free to move it to your own user space. Keep up the good work! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 22:04, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Wow, that's a really comprehensive review. Gonzo makes some excellent points. Your userspace editing is quite high, although this is understandable since you do userpage designs. He also brings up a good point, in that your article work is a little low, relative to your total work, only just over 1/4. The mainspace is the real reason why we're here on Wikipedia, so don't just glaze over mainspace work. Pretty much everything he says is great, make sure you read it carefully. Useight (talk) 23:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Useight, I did. It was very thorough and I've learned quite a bit from it. --RyRy5 (talk) 23:21, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Your welcome RyRy5, and thank you for the barnstar!! (its only my second one :) Like I said, if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Keep up the good work!! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 00:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
The key part of this whole thread that I'm hoping you pick up on RyRy is the part where Gonzofan said "thanks for the barnstar, its only my second one". Gonzofan is an admin. He's received two barnstars, total. That would presume to mean that he never did anything "just to get a barnstar". Getting the connection? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:20, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I do Keeper. That is one of the reasons I stopped participating in WP:AWC. Thanks for the comment though Keeper.--RyRy5 (talk) 20:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Those AFD closures

They all look good. Enigmaman does mention that waiting 5 days is ideal, but most of those had gone for 3 or 4 and were pretty obvious cases of keep. I think they were fine. Useight (talk) 04:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

DYK

I've never submitted an article for DYK, but I did make some minor fixes just to clean it up a bit. Be bold and submit it. It looks pretty good. Useight (talk) 07:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm not going to sugarcoat it, you've run into trouble in the past involving DYK. DYK isn't one of the areas that I deal with so I'm not the most familiar with it. However, if you wrote the article yourself, I don't see a problem with submitting it, that thread on the DYK talk page says that they would inspect your nominations with great scrutiny. So, if it's not a copyvio, you shouldn't have a problem. If it is, there's going to be some serious consequences, I'm sure. So, that's it, cut and dry. Useight (talk) 07:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Give me a few minutes, I need to make the background transparent first, then Ill upload it to Wikirights. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 07:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[1] There you go, I cant figure out how to make the background transparent though. Ill keep on working on it and see what I can do. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 07:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[2] This is the shortest I can get it, the Wiki will not allow me to upload a picture with a title less then 3 characters. So I can only shorten it by 2 characters :( « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
We'll figure something out tomorrow, I going to sleep. Have a good night :) « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:12, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
What do you think? « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:44, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Pete Smith

I'm sorry, I just don't have the inclination to check this for copyvios right now. You've been warned about it and if you keep submitting copyvios people are not going to trust you anymore, so hopefully you've learned your lesson. I or someone else will check the article when it is about due for review. Regards, Gatoclass (talk) 10:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Donald Bradman

Hi. You made a good start! When do you think you might be able to complete the c-e? --Dweller (talk) 10:26, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm very busy tomorrow. Probably Friday (UTC). Is that good? Remember, I'm not very good at cricket-related articles. But I'll do my best. --RyRy5 (talk) 10:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
That'd be excellent. I'll be off-wiki for a looong weekend, so I'll pick it up middle of next week from you. Perfect. --Dweller (talk) 10:34, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, can I see the peer review it is currently in? It might give me some ideas on certain places to copyedit. The article itself is well written, but of course, you can always improve. -- RyRy5 (talk) 10:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Of course! --Dweller (talk) 10:40, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, that's really all I need to know. Most parts of the article doesn't need copyediting. I'd say over 65-75% 0f the articles looks just fine. Well, I'm tired. Talk to you later. :D -- RyRy5 (talk) 10:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Larry Jennings

I am finally getting to work on Larry Jennings. My question is, how can the templates be deleted? (Obviously not just deleting it, but making it at standard).--LAAFan 22:34, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay. Okay, if you want the templates to be removed, you have to do what the templates say. Larry Jennings needs cleaning up in some areas. Focus on that than someone can remove it. Now, start class is one of the classes of the assessment scale. Start class articles usually have a good amount of information, but are still weak in areas. They usually need to be expanded. Articles must have at least one of the following to be a start class:
  • a particularly useful picture or graphic
  • multiple links that help explain or illustrate the topic
  • a subheading that fully treats an element of the topic
  • multiple subheadings that indicate material that could be added to complete the article

That's pretty much all I can say at this point. Best, RyRy5 (talk) 02:35, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

That one does look like it's going to be a keep, but since it hasn't been open all that long, I'd hold off a bit on that one. And no, you don't have to ask me or Steve before closing AFDs, but since they are non-admin closures, you'll probably want to be pretty conservative. Useight (talk) 01:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Start Class

Is there some system for promotion to start class? Here's my reason for asking- I accepted a challenge at the AWC to get Blue Riband (biscuits)‎ to start class. I will continue to add, but please let me know. Also, is my reference good? WikiZorro told me what a reference is, but I wanted to check. --LAAFan 13:25, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Again, sorry for the delay. Well, there really isn't a "system." To promote an article, you just have to make sure the article meets the next class, if it does, you just have to go to it's talk page and add the next class. But Blue Riband (biscuits) isn't close to being start class yet. Here's an example of a B class article I created: Baseball uniform. That's an article that passess start class. And what do you mean by "is my reference good?" Do you mean the reference in the article that I'm guessing you added? -- RyRy5 (talk) 15:21, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I know it isn't ready yet. I'm still adding. And yes, I do mean the reference on the article.--LAAFan 15:32, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • So my reference is good! That was my first real reference. I tried earlier, but then I got in a scuffle about external links and references......... Anyway, thanks for that and all of the help you give me.--LAAFan 15:39, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

For your helpfullness....

    • Sorry to say, but no, you didn't reference it right. Almost. Okay, I fixed it to make it look like this. Well, I made a typo on that one so add this to it. Anyway, the reference itself doesn't go under the referemce section. It goes in the article somewhere. What goes under the references section is {{Reflist}} and only {{Reflist}}. The reflist (reference list) gets everything [1] to the ref section. Well, just study what I did in the diff. If you ever need help in referencing (I'm good at that ;) ) then just give me a call. Questions? Yeah, and sorry for the long comments. -- RyRy5 (talk) 15:42, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • I know. I looked at the article. I know that I didn't citation it right; I was asking if the site was a good reference (I should have said that). I will get into those soon. Hence the wikicookie. I wanted to know that I understood what a reference website was.--LAAFan 15:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • And I just did this. Keep that diff, LAA. It can be a reminder of what to do. And I will check more thoroughly to see if that ref you added was good. -- RyRy5 (talk) 15:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Sorry to keep bugging you. Before I continue adding references, is the 2nd one I put on good? I believe I put the reference in the way you're supposed to, but I would like to check before moving forward. Thanks for the example, by the way--LAAFan 15:55, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Removal of unfavorable message

I've been agonizing for days whether to confront you over this - in the end, I think it's better to tell you than keep silent. Right after I left the AfD message noting your somewhat questionable close, you replied and archived - curiously, your archival was missing my thread. Now, I'm not going to provide any diffs - you know what I'm talking about. Honestly, I don't think AGF could be applied here - there is absolutely no way I can see that it was accidental. It's obvious that you cut-and-pasted; the first edit of the archive did not contain my thread. RyRy, this is very disappointing from you - try to show more integrity in the future. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:06, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm not absolutely sure which AFD you are speaking about, but I would imagine it was this one: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Varèse Sarabande. If that's the case, then you did withdraw the nomination. Also, if I may quote from Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines, "On your own user talk page, you may remove others' comments, although archiving is generally preferred." It is not against policy to remove comments from other users on your own talk page. Useight (talk) 23:28, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
But if Nousernamesleft wants me to add it back, I would no matter what the guidelines says. --RyRy5 (talk) 23:31, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Useight, that's a misrepresentation of the situation. I had asked for it to be closed once additional evidence was provided - though I'm not too bothered, as I said in my first thread on RyRy's page. Anyways, that's not the concern. The concern is that RyRy purposely removed my thread on his talk page while archiving because it reflected unfavorably on him. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:11, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I apoligize Nousernamesleft. I now know it was wrong, and I won't do it again. I have added it back. Please understand that I am sorry for what I did. -- RyRy5 (talk) 00:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
It's all right. You've been under a lot of scrutiny lately. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 02:19, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Actually, I haven't had any complaints about my editing this last month, besides this one. It's been getting better, but I realize removing your thread you added, just to remove my wrong doing was wrong. I was so happy that I haven't recieved any complaints, that I didn't want to start again now. --RyRy5 (talk) 02:23, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Re:Jessica Gaude

Possibly notable, but if you check the reference provided here, you notice it was a copyvio. Someone tagged with A7 and it was deleted anyway. Malinaccier (talk) 02:01, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I deleted this one as an attack page, thinking it a complete fabrication, (lions? come on...). xenocidic (talk) 02:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Not all of it actually. The girl is 489lbs looking through google, yes, but what you said was true. --RyRy5 (talk) 02:05, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Yep, I see now that she actually exists, but as Mal mentions it was copyvio from a "onion-like" publication. Think it still qualified as an attack page, real person or not. xenocidic (talk) 02:07, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. Seemed like an attack page and was a copyvio. No reason why not to delete it. -- RyRy5 (talk) 02:11, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Aye. nice find. xenocidic (talk) 02:13, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Userpage Design

I was getting bored of my current userpage and I noticed you do userpages. So I was wondering if you could you give my userpage a face lift? The same for my talk page? If you need anything it is all located in the subsections. Also I have transcluded my talk page. User:Rgoodermote/u is the where the code is held. I will understand if you do not want to mate. Anyways have a good one. Rgoodermote  00:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd be happy to renovate your user page and talk page. Is there any specifics you would like? -- RyRy5 (talk) 00:45, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Go wild. Though my favorite color is sky blue. Also...I have not updated that bio so instead use this

"If men could only know each other, they would neither idolize nor hate." Elbert Hubbard

as a temp please. Thank you mate. Rgoodermote  00:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Alright. It'll generally take me a few days. I'll start as soon as I get to it. Best, RyRy5 (talk) 01:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. I wish you well. Happy editing. Rgoodermote  01:14, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposal

I just submitted a proposal to User:Jimbo Wales. Please feel free to comment.Note: Original idea by User:IridescentXp54321 (Hello!,Contribs) 01:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I noticed the whole thing folding into place at User talk:Metros. I'll take a peak. --RyRy5 (talk) 01:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU Status

Hey RyRy5, do you know how to get my status set up at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users/North America#Pacific Time? (It currently says "unknown.") I followed instructions 1 & 2 at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users#Volunteers, but I don't understand #3. Thanks. -- King of 02:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Never mind, Calvin 1998 solved my problem. -- King of 04:30, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Alright. Best, RyRy5 (talk) 04:33, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Help Desk

Indeed, a detailed answer would've been somewhat difficult (though probably found at the Reference Desk...!). It's best just to remove those sorts of comments; sometimes it's just badly phrased questions that come across as vandalism, so caution is a virtue, but I don't think that person meant to ask a serious question (funnily enough hehe). Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 09:08, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh right, thanks for letting me know. I predict a long MfD; it seems to have supporters and opposers. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 09:42, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm. I agree; I granted him rollback yesterday to see how he would cope. I think he's showing change, and he's clearly enthusiastic for the project, so it's only right that his work isn't deleted out of hand. Having said that, I can understand some of the objections, but I have a feeling it'll survive MfD if it came to it.
I quite like the barnstar template. However I think it should be modified slightly. It almost sounds like "thank you for being a trusted administrator when so few are trustworthy", which of course it's not, but it can be read like that. Perhaps make a barnstar for a specific admin action, or something like "thank you for all your excellent admin actions". It would just avoid any possible objection in my opinion, but either way, I think it's ready for the template namespace. Be sure to add it to WP:BARNSTAR. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 10:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, having said the above, I like it a lot. I think it's fine as it is; I think I was reading more into it than I should (I've seen too many XfD arguments...) :) PeterSymonds (talk) 10:07, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
What about Wikipedia:Personal user awards? PeterSymonds (talk) 10:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see. In that case I think the kindness page is a good page to suggest it. And they can always move it to an appropriate page when a home is found. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 10:25, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Template:Admin thanks

Hi RyRy5. Template:Admin thanks is probably not a good idea. The people whose talk pages you would place it on would usually not appreciate the spam, and the sentiment it promotes is somewhat undermined by being in template form. Would you mind moving it back to your user space? ➨ ЯEDVEЯS used to be a sweet boy 10:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Sure. I just thought it would be good for the WP:KIND. But I do see how it could be of what you said. I'll move it back. Regards, RyRy5 (talk) 10:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Probably best, but I do like the idea. Perhaps make it for a certain admin action (eg. an undeletion or something?) and not just in general. It's up to you, but I stand by the idea; us admins need more recognition. ;) (the recognition comment was obviously a joke in case anyone's thinking of countering that. :)) PeterSymonds (talk) 10:42, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Done. An admin can delete Template:Admin thanks if they get the chance to. ;) --RyRy5 (talk) 10:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

AN

thanks! i have to say i do agree with the other users, it already has an MfD page and will be dealt with within due time, but thanks for helping out :). Ironholds 10:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

ahh ok, thanks. Many users minds seem made up, so it may not make a difference, but if they got a wider impression of me as a user rather than assuming i'm some god-bashing science nut then they might reconsider. I've answered them...now.Ironholds 11:06, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Renovations

I like it so far. My only problem is what to do with my really long userbox. Rgoodermote  16:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Um, you can put some on your subpage to make it smaller. -- RyRy5 (talk) 17:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Why had I not thought of that? Thank you. Rgoodermote  18:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Your welcome. :) I'll continuo with the renovation sooner or later. It should be finished either today or tomorrow. -- RyRy5 (talk) 18:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Replied on my talk page. Feel free to copy that over here. Rgoodermote  18:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
