Hello!
Can you renovate my user page so there is a theme with these 3 colors like on this picture [1] wich are white, green and yellow. Can you make round corners and drop down boxes for informational userboxes? Try to keep the status and defcon... Thanks! --Creamy!Talk 02:16, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Re:
Thank you very much for your message on my talk page ! Europe22 (talk) 07:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello again, RyRy5. I am concerned about the above article. The article in its entirety appears to be plagiarism from [2], [3], [4] and [5]. Was this material licensed to you under a free licence? If not, as the article may have to be deleted as a copyright violation, due to it being copied from these sources. The whole content of the article appears to be "copy and pasted" word for word. Can you shed any light on this? Regards, EJF (talk) 11:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Geez, on top of that, the line used for the hook is word for word out of the first link. Metros (talk) 11:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- (copied from my talk page)Ah crap, RyRy. What were you thinking? We cannot, repeat Can Not, copy text directly from other websites and pass it off as our own. You cannot do that in school either, it's called plagiarism. In Wiki world, it's called copyright enfringement. Is there a logical explanation for this that I'm not seeing? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 14:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Hey RyRy, I'm sorry I had to bring it up yesterday, but copyright infringement can be quite serious. You're not going to be punished, but there could have been problems if the owner of the content had saw it was on Wikipedia and complained. I hope now that you can work with Steve and sort things out. Regards, EJF (talk) 11:40, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Final warning about copyright violations
This is your last warning about copyright violations. You've been warned on several occasions in the past, (see User_talk:RyRy5/Archive_7/4-25-08#Copying_and_pasting and User_talk:RyRy5/Archive_7/4-25-08#Copyright_violation. The next occasion we see you copying and pasting out of other sources to create an article, you will be blocked. Metros (talk) 12:09, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- As an historical note, the above warning applied both for the violation noted directly above as well as this. Daniel (talk) 13:12, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- As well as Boson star. Metros (talk) 14:42, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I am also concerned by the now famous baseball uniform, it seems to have been copied from various sources. There is an entire section from Baseball cap, a lot of content comes from http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ (this is cited as a ref), see 1, 2, from ezinearticles.com (a blacklisted site), see 3. It may explain the spectacular evolution of this article. It has been now edited a lot, but the copyright infringements are still blatant, I thought that candidates for DYK were thoroughly reviewed to avoid this kind of problems. It's on the talk page. Cenarium (talk) 17:18, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was just going back and looking through that one myself, Cenarium, and agree with your assessment. Not to excuse RyRy in any way, but what are the safeguards against this happening at DYK? I don't tread over that way often (or ever). Are you going to remove the copyrighted material that you found? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 17:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Kingturtle has proposed to copyedit the article. I placed hidden comments to indicate the copyvios. Cenarium (talk) 17:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I placed the standard templates, this way, readers are informed of the situation, and can help. If you have copied other sources, please tell us, in order to avoid future copyright problems in the article. Cenarium (talk) 19:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- The major copyvios are gone thanks to the help of Kingturtle, but there are still sentences needing to be fixed. Cenarium (talk) 20:12, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Another instance of copyright violation, here. Cenarium (talk) 21:44, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- RyRy5, you say that you expand an article when you're actually restoring an old revision, [6], [7], [8]. This is unacceptable, do you realize that ? It's like the copyright violations, you deny other people's work, you appropriate what is not yours. It's obvious that you want to make good impression, make other people think that you're a good article writer. Yeah, you want the mop, but come on, it's not like this that you'll get it, nor constructively contribute, step back and think on what you're doing. Cenarium (talk) 22:50, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I see that. I wasn't really thinking of anything else to say. Maybe saying "rm vandalism" would be better. I'm truly sorry for how much trouble I've caused. I thought it was just the rollback issue, but now this? I still need much to learn in the copyvio areas. Also, about the mop, I really don't want to become an admin right now and I'm not eager for the mop. I'm really just want to help wikipedia all I can, but it seems I don't know the next step. It seems that writing artcles it not a very reliable place to take the next step on, or I might just crush it, in other words, violate the rules. Any suggestions? I'd be glad to here from some.RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 22:57, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ask your adopter. :) Okay, I'll think about it later. Cenarium (talk) 23:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I replied at Steve's talk page. It seems that you already have got a lot of advises from editors. Think about them, and try to apply. But also, don't expect that the answers will come from others every time, think and try to find the answer yourself. And look at other people's contribs, see how they handle a situation, etc. Edit by pleasure, not by obligation. You want recognition ? Fine, me too, but be patient and don't force yourself to do anything just for that. Admit your mistakes and think about them, analyze your behavior. And finally, don't spend so much time on Wikipedia, take your distances, think on the long run. And also, fix the remaining copyright violations in Baseball uniform, and find out if it's compliant with the GFDL to copy the text of an article and paste it in another one. Cenarium (talk) 23:44, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Question(s)
Just downloaded everything necessary for awb. But I don't see where to start the program. (No desktop icon, start menu has nothing) Does it start automatically? I would hate to download something and found I couldn't use it a second time. It's currently on because I activated its exe file right from where I extracted it to.Help!I am approved.Xp54321 (talk) 22:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I just extracted the file then double clicked on the exe file. My problem is where extracted awb to. I forgot and haven't been able to find it. That means after I shut my computer down I wont be able to access it a 2nd time. If you know where u extracted it to find the file that says example.exe. That starts the program. Also on the home page it mentions a .NET 2.0 thingie needed for AWB Hope this helps.:)Xp54321 (talk) 00:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hey Xp54321. I just realized that asking you where you extracted the file to won't make much of a difference. Anyway, wherever you extracted it to, open that folder and find the icon that says "AutoWikiBrowser". That's how you start the program. If you want to put that on your desktop, then simply copy that file and put it on your desktop. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have on my talk page. Cheers, Kodster (You talkin' to me?) User page fix?
Hi RyRy,
A few Userpage bugs that i'd like fixing if possible?
- I'd like my toolbar making more like yours, so it blends in more?
- If possible can the white space between the grey bars and the blue be removed?
- I have a stray |} but i can't find it
- REmoving white space between the title override?
- Adding some sort of grey rounded header on the user page
- Making the default font of both pages as Gill Sans.
Thanks,
- Ok no worries - as with the userpage it's not important - just "pretty pretty"!
- Thanks,

Resolved
Hi Ryan. Generally I mark queries as resolved when 1) the questioner thanks the help desk for their advice, which would only usually be when they've tried/fixed their problem or 2) when the matter is uncontroversial and a number of possible solutions have been put forward. Not all questioners reply back and thank the team, which is fair enough really considering that it's there to serve a purpose, so it's sometimes a matter of common sense. What have the responders said? Does it look like there's a concrete answer or a number of answers? If the answer is yes to the second, then I would generally mark the query as resolved. Hope that helps. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 04:01, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- I always answer on other people's talk pages. :) In response, I don't have a formal adoption programme but I'm here if questions need to be asked. I consider myself quite experienced so if I don't know the answer I could most likely tell you who would. As for admin coaching, I'm not signed up but again, I'm here to answer questions and explain functions and policies if and when needed. Also, Pedro (talk · contribs) has set up a mentoring programme designed for admin applicants. It's similar in a way to the traditional admin coaching, but it's more focused on advice and guidance rather than "how to pass a RfA". That may help, but I'm also open to questions and so on, so feel free to drop me a line whenever (UK time, 16:00-23:00 weekdays; weekends are more sporadic but I'll usually answer within 2 hours). The WP:HAU/EU sometimes says I'm offline when I'm not, but that might be because I'm doing admin work (done by logs not edits) or when I'm just browsing. :) Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 04:27, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I've noticed that a lot of your edits to the help desk today have been very redundant to things already said in those sections. This one is a repeat of the reply that's already there. As is this one. - Thank you, I'm trying not to create articles and revert actively until it is said I am trusted enough to do so. I am trying to stay away from hose certain areas. I am not really repeating comments. The second link you gave me was why the user needs padlocks. is it for page protection or just for decor? I would like the answers from the requester, that is the reason of me asking. The first one is just an extra comment. I will try not to do the first link you gave me. But the second one is what I am curious about. Regards, Ryan Cross (talk) 04:43, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Copyvio comment on Baseball uniform
RyRy, I'm assuming you mean through this diff that that info on baseball caps was copied word for word from another source. RyRy, copyvios apply to the editing space, they apply to talk space, they apply anywhere. It is appropriate to post the source in the talk page and perhaps suggest someone use it to write the section, but the actual copy paste cannot remain. I have removed it. Gwynand | Talk•Contribs 03:51, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. Someone left a hidden comment there that the text under it was a copyvio. I then left another hidden comment hiding the text unti someone (possibly me) would improve it. Removing it was probably the best solution per your explanation that wherever a copyvio is, it's a copyvio.--RyRy5 (talk) 04:24, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh boy
I agree (sort of), the project LAA created can't be kept the same. I got carried away and took the opportunity to make It a teaching thing. While "joining" I showed him how to use Images in different ways and encouraged him to edit outside his userspace. I hope we can make it an adoption thing between me and him. Cheers! Also, Thanks so much for keeping cool! He really doesn't know what goes and what doesn't. If you ever run for RFA I'll make sure they here about your politeness. RE:Changes?
Hi, RyRy, most of the points I brought up on that page have been amended now. You have become much less crazed about edit count, which is a good thing :). Your recent AFD/MFD votes are not "per nom" and you add elaborations to explain the motivation behind your !vote. You are still on the eager side but trying to take things at a bit of a slower pace (also good). The only concern I would have about your recent edits were your additions of copyright material. I'm sure by now however, you have had enough people explain the importance of editing an article in your own words. All in all, I don't see any glaring issues. Happy editing!¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 04:18, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

{{clerknote}}
RyRy, just to let you know, you really shouldn't use these templates for Help Desk. They're actually for use by the clerks of the ArbCom or the Checkuser noticeboard. There are templates for the help desk, at {{HD}}, but personally, I wouldn't use them. A personalised message is a lot better. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 02:31, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for telling me. I didn't know that. I think {{HD}} looks better. I'll use those on occasions. --RyRy5 (talk ♠ copy-edit) 02:48, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I'd really advise against using that template, personally. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 02:49, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Is there a certain reason? It's not like I'm against you, I would just like a reason so I can think twice about using it.--RyRy5 (talk ♠ copy-edit) 02:51, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, the Help Desk isn't really busy, and many people prefer a personalised message. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 03:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

- From what I've seen so far, your work is great. You do a lot of work in improving the mainspace and I couldn't find any signs of incivility. I did find two edits of minor concern in the 15 minutes I spent checking stuff. With this edit, you removed another editor's comment, which is usually frowned upon. It was on your talk page, so it's definitely not against policy, just unorthodox. Another one was this edit. The edit itself was fine, no problems with that, but the edit summary was wrong. You said, "rm NPOV" when you meant to say "rm POV", just be careful when putting in an edit summary or people might get the wrong idea about your intentions. Due to both the short amount of time I put into sifting through edits, and the quality and quantity of your edits, that's all I have found so far. I like your work. - Thanks. Sorry for the delay, my laptop turned off on me. :P Anyway, the first diff, I didn't even know I did that. That explains why I thought I never got a response. Hehe. And the second diff, I realized I got NPOV and POV mixed up after I saved it. Thanks for your time but there is currently 2 problems in my editing. 1) I have had rollback revoked 3 times. 2) I have an issue with writing articles that is not copyrighted word for word. - Depending on what your current adopter, Steve Crossin, says about the matter, I can adopt you. Just FYI, I have two big exams coming up, one tomorrow and one the next day, so I won't be very active for the next 72 hours, but I will be checking my talk page (and maybe my watchlist). Once my test ends on Friday, I be back in full-swing. Also, I won't just hand you rollback willy-nilly, you'll have to prove yourself first. Useight (talk) 20:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Good catch on finding that copyvio. I was able to find the location from which the material had been copied. I hope I took care of everything correctly, but I'm not sure. I tagged the article as possible copyvio so it can be looked at by others. I replaced the copyvio content with the text that had been there prior to the copyvio material being added in. I also made a report at Wikipedia:Copyright_problems, but there's a big backlog there. Hopefully that takes care of everything. Useight (talk) 03:36, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Your stats
Wow, I didn't know you had 10,000 edits. Okay, since your numbers are way higher than RazorFlame's, I can't really tell you the same thing. I told him to get his numbers to a certain height in order to impress people at RFA. You have already got 3000 mainspace, which is definitely up there. You also have the requisite amount of Wikipedia namespace. There are few things, though, that I can recommend. One, get your Wikipedia talk up, it's only at 12, which is really low for someone with 10,000 edits. And try to cut down on User talk, as a percentage of total edits. Nearly 40% of your edits are to user talk. Over the last 10 days you've been averaging 50 edits a day to user talk. That, in and of itself, isn't bad, but it is the fact that 39% of your edits are to user talk pages. It makes it appear that you're using Wikipedia more for social networking than for building an encyclopedia. However, some of this is understandable, given your recent turmoil. Feel free to keep talking with others and building consensus, but make sure you're doing other work, too, in order to keep everything in balance. Also, perhaps get your article talk pages up a little as well, it's only 200, which is a little low for having 10,000 edits. Good luck. Useight (talk) 04:31, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, a fair number of of your user talk are vandal warnings, like you say, so it could be worse. You may want to stop doing that for a while, though, just to even out your edits a little bit. I'd recommend editing in the maispace and Wikipedia talk. I presume you meant to ask on my talk page, "Where is a good place to talk in wikipedia talk namespace?". My favorite is WT:RFA. Useight (talk) 05:07, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll try to even them out as best as I can. And I'll see if I can contribute to that talk page.--RyRy5 (talk ♠ copy-edit) 05:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I made pages for those two. They were correctly re-directed to the Shiny Toy Guns page. Specifically I was trying to get the pages up because the other two members in the band have there own pages too. These pages just listed facts (and approval from both band members). What do I do?
Thanks for your time,

The conversation at the HAU talk page regarding the requirements didn't nail down any specific requirements aside from being "active" (a term still hazy, but is currently pegged at 500+ edits per month) and "helpful". According to the consensus, it sounds like anybody can just add themselves. Things like this (people jumping up when they see your name) are going to keep coming up about you until your DYK copvio incident blows over, which will take a while. The point is, even though your username is going to raise eyebrows for a while, I don't see a problem with you being at HAU. You still have a lot to learn, but you're willing to help and I'm sure you'd point a new editor to someone else if you didn't know the answer to their question. Useight (talk) 05:40, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, today I pointed out an editor to the Wikipedia:Help desk. And I understand the rest what you said. I havn't received any comments if I had made a non-constructive edit. It seems I'm editing correctly these past few days. Especially yesterday night (after talking to you). I copy-edited about 30-50 articles yesterday and assessesed about 30 articles with no complaints. You can probably look through my contribs for proof of that.--RyRy5 (talk ♠ copy-edit) 05:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
