Re a SineBot automatic sig at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abandon Productions
Hi,
I transferred a comment by a new user from Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Abandon Productions to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abandon Productions, and your bot went in afterwards and noted that I had left the comment unsigned. I didn't want to sign it, because it wasn't my comment. I have undone it. How do I stop that from happening again? -- Roleplayer (talk) 03:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Use !nosign! in the edit summary or one of the other opt out methods on its user page. --slakr\ talk / 03:15, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Prebendal Farm, Aylesbury
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Prebendal Farm, Aylesbury, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Prebendal Farm, Aylesbury. Fritzpoll (talk) 13:47, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- The page has been updated to a better standard, and is no longer the same as the article that was nominated for deletion. I have removed the nomination. -- Roleplayer (talk) 01:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Since when does consistently removing templates without explanation not count as vandalism? I have seen some admins block for a lot less than that. -- Roleplayer (talk) 19:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Since he tried to explain in the edit summary why he was doing what he was doing, AND replied several times to the warnings on his talk page, I would call that a dispute and not vandalism. He has a genuine concern about the article and is attempting to fix that concern. Now, even if his concern is completely baseless (it may be baseless, I only suppose, but do not support, that it is), it is clear that his concern is in good faith and thus is not vandalism. Is it blockable? If he violates 3RR than damn skippy it is. However, it is not vandalism, since good-faith edits are not vandalism. If he violates 3RR, then report him to WP:AN3 instead. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 19:13, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well I stand completely by my actions. The user in question did not once make a comment in an edit summary as to why he was removing the templates from the pages, and on his talk page referred only to commercial links. It was not the removal of commercial links that I kept reverting. -- Roleplayer (talk) 01:04, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Schulgop and patent nonsense
Why is Schulgop not speedy-able? Surely it's patent nonsense? -- Roleplayer (talk) 01:30, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Regrettably (and WP:PN makes the same word choice), Schulgop is not patent nonsense. It is cohesive enough to tell that it is about a fictional character. Fictional characters are outside the scope of A7, so it can't be speedied under that criterion. It does run blatantly afoul of Wikipedia is not for things made up one day, but that's not a speedy deletion criterion.
- I've invited the original editor to reply. Best case is he goes ahead and requests deletion (G7). I could almost justify going ahead and deleting it under WP:SNOW, as I implied in my comment at the OE's talk page, but I at least want to give him a chance to reply. —C.Fred (talk) 01:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Robert E. Dunn
Hello, I'm new to using Wikipedia so please excuse me if I don't know how to get messages out on it properly.
Regarding the article on Robert E Dunn, I don't know if you're from New Jersey (I'm assuming that you're not), but Robert E. Dunn is a very famous and prestigious lawyer known throughout the state. I know of him mostly because of articles in various newspapers and reading about how he represented I. Kathleen Hagen. I realize now that the online source which I found and cited says that his partner Gerard Hanlon represented her, but I know this is not the case. I could find and cite direct sources from the Star Ledger, but I really don't have the time to go through records at the local library from years past, because the Star Ledger does not save many records online.
- To answer your query, a lawyer or attorney has to be notable in more than just one county of the United States in order to warrant inclusion in an encyclopedia, and I am not the only editor to have trouble finding verifiable references about this guy. You need to provide evidence of how someone is notable, that meets the verifiability guidelines. -- Roleplayer (talk) 02:21, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Reg Prakriya School page
I am a new user of Wikipedia. I created this page which was marked for deletion by you stating to too less content.
This page is still under construction. In fact, I am encouraging my son (who studies in the school) to complete the page. This will take some time. How do I prevent deletion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vivek kapadia (talk • contribs) 17:05, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have removed the speedy tag, because it has now been expanded. -- Roleplayer (talk) 17:08, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
What does it matter whether the word has a meaningful etymology or not? It is a word that is used to describe the fear or hatred of homosexuality, and there are various sources that state this as fact. What's the problem? -- Roleplayer (talk) 20:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- It most definitely should matter if one wishes to gain respect and not look foolish in conversation. Making up words and assigning new, incorrect meanings does not help the cause. It makes the proponents look foolish and come across as being all-too-eager to unintelligibly label something or someone. Breilly76 (talk) 22:16, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

USD Medal of Honor
congressional medal of honor recipients are always considered notable for WP purposes. If you doubt the award, use afd. DGG (talk) 05:03, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- No disrespect to people who genuinely have been awarded the medal intended. The article was a valid speedy nomination when it was created for being patent nonsense based on the dates given. I have since nominated it for afd - you may wish to visit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fischer Thomas - at this time there is a very firm consensus of delete. -- Roleplayer (talk) 14:27, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
I am attempting to offer this article up for a speedy deletion, as I believe it clearly fits at least two of the criteria which make it a candidate for speedy deletion. Can you tell me why you disagree? Thanks. Pwilliams128 (talk) 16:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- The article is not eligible for speedy deletion because it is not blatant that it is attacking anyone, and the article asserts notability. if you believe the article should be deleted, I would suggest nominating it at WP:AFD (follow the instructions there) or I can nominate it for you if you give me the criteria by which it should be nominated. -- Roleplayer (talk) 16:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Re your block of User:Witysmartone
Hi, just wondering why you only blocked for 24 hours? If you look at the contribs that user has failed to make a single constructive edit so far - normally that warrants an indefinite block? -- Roleplayer (talk) 02:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing too mysterious. :) The user was only active for about 40 minutes, in all. In my experience with basic vandal accounts, the duration of the block only rarely makes any difference in practice. Most times, they never return even after a short block. In the event they do return, they'll either continue disrupting the project (in which case it's easy enough to re-block) or will contribute helpfully (in which case we're better off than when we started); in the former case, the indefinitely blocked vandal will be quite able to return using another account, anyway, so the term "indefinite" can be a bit misleading. If there is a danger in this strategy, it's in allowing a number of iffy accounts to sit around autoconfirmed, but we tend to do that already, with a few thousand every day. – Luna Santin (talk) 05:20, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK thank you for the rationale! -- Roleplayer (talk) 12:42, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
TURKISH REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN CYPRUS
Since Greek Cypriot Vandalism will never end on Turkish Cypriot Wiki pages, It is meaningless to stop edit and change Greek Cypriot Wiki pages. Cross Country Croquet
Hello,I recently posted a new page titled Cross Country Croquet, which was tagged for speedy deletion. I pled my case on the pages talk board, but found it had been deleated this morning. Could I have a reason as to why it was deleated? I understand why it was tagged, but would like a full fledge anwser. Thank You Bjb329 (talk) 12:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, if I remember rightly the article in question did not assert its notability outside one group of people. Have a look at Wikipedia:Notability for the notability guidelines on articles such as this. -- Roleplayer (talk) 17:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the respones. I have read the criteria and fully understand the issue at hand. So I guess my next question woukd be, I need to have a third party source to be able to confirm that this is a subject for the people and not a single group or person? If so I fear no one will ever learn about this version of the game, because only a small group of people participate in it. Any thoughts? Bjb329 (talk) 20:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- As it says in the above policy, sometimes you just have to face it that not every subject can be included in Wikipedia. I am sure there are lots of versions of croquet out there, just as there are likely to be people who play the same version as you without realising it, however without the verifiable third party sources to show that it is a genuine and notable sport, there isn't a great deal that can be done about it. Sorry. -- Roleplayer (talk) 20:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome - and what a great User Page!!
I know this isn't a chat forum or something, but since i can't figure out how to just email you, i thought i'd just thank you here for the nice welcome, and compliment you on a very interesting user page. I hope to make some useful contributions, but am very aprehensive that over-zealous sys-ops may simply use the "revert" function to erase everything i do, instead of more selectively changing only the things they disagree with me regarding. I've heard a great many horror stories about this type of practice.

- You are making threats of blocking my ability to edit pages, and you keep doing so on my talk page. I would appreciate it if you would stop threatening me. I do not appreciate being threatened by people, and MJroots made a similar threat to me, so i told him the same thing i told you, i do not appreciate being threatened at all. I am new to editing in wikipedia so i dont know all of the ins and outs, so back off of my talk page and stop threatening me. Thank you. AnnaJGrant (talk) 11:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- You only get so many warnings for making unconstructive edits. If you use up those warnings and haven't changed your editing behaviour, you get blocked from editing, simple as that. If you are genuinely sorry and are willing to learn how to edit properly, there should be no reason to get any more warnings. If you continue as you have been you will be blocked from editing very quickly. Wikipedia editors have a very low tolerance rating for unconstructive users. -- Roleplayer (talk) 11:38, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
