I doubt it would have been lost, but I reviewed it. It looks good, although I made a small tweak; you may want to make sure you agree with it. I also made a few minor edits to the article to reduce the phrasing that seemed to be the same as the sources, even though I don't think any of them were particularly problematic as they stood. The Wagner article is in need of some help

We're in a bit of a pickle in the Wagner discussion page. The issues concerns what can be in the introduction and what not, should it be shortened and are the chapters in the right order? At the Wagner discussion page there is Edit War solution topic and at the end of it some courses of action that I was requested to list. Please help, it seems that the few old hags (me included) don't want to come to any conclusion. Just take a fast look. Thank you User:Major Torp (talk) 14:24, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the DYK review. As I wrote on the nomination page, I'm fine with your suggestion.

About the 1918 issue: While there are holes in B-R's minor league rosters, most of those are for 1870s and 1880s players. I can't prove this, but Stumpf was probably in the military for World War I. Many other players were out of baseball during that year. It's not a big deal; I just trust B-R on this one. Go ahead and remove the sentence if you disagree. - PM800 (talk) 04:16, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Nate Doss Article Deletion

Hello Rlendog,

You had just deleted the Nate Doss article I was in the process of making. I am wondering if it is possible for me to recreate it? I was not near finished, and have a lot more information that can go on there. Nate Doss is one of the premier disc golfers in the world, and has won many of the greatest tournaments in the world, including three major championships. It would be nice for people to have one place to find information about him.

Thanks, Jaywm Jaywm (talk) 03:36, 10 November 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaywm (talkcontribs) 03:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

I restored the article; I had missed your comment on the talk page. I will leave it for another admin to decide whether the article should remain. From a quick check of the the web it does seem that Nate Doss may be a legitimate candidate for an article. If you add referenced information regarding his championships to the article, that would help insure it is kept. Even if deleted, you could recreate an article on this person by including the sourced information demonstrating his notability. Rlendog (talk) 03:39, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for restoring the article. Is the message going to remain at the top of the page until I make it up to standards? Or will it have to be deleted by an admin? Jaywm (talk) 04:40, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

It looks like the message was removed. Once the article made a credible claim of some importance for this individual, it no longer qualified for speedy deletion. Rlendog (talk) 16:08, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Other "albums produced by Jack Douglas"

Good catch on "Imagine," however I notice that Douglas is listed as producer of all the John Lennon hits compilations (except for "Shaved Fish") which isn't correct. No other producer is listed for these (not Phil Spector nor Lennon himself), do you think these should be removed as well? Hotcop2 (talk) 12:09, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

He's probably appropriate on most if not all the compilations except for Shaved Fish, since they contain songs from Double Fantasy, which he did produce. Rlendog (talk) 20:02, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Well he's the only producer listed (not even Lennon is), which makes it kinda incorrect, or at least incomplete. Hotcop2 (talk) 20:20, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Do you have a specific example in mind? For example, Allmusic lists all of Douglas, Lennon, Spector, George Martin and Yoko Ono as producers of Gimme Some Truth. Rlendog (talk) 20:23, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Let's start with The John Lennon Collection. According to the wikipage, the album is produced by Jack Douglas. Hotcop2 (talk) 23:27, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
The infobox shows Douglas, Lennon, Ono and Spector as producers. That seems right. If in the article it states only that Douglas is the producer, the others should be added. Rlendog (talk) 01:37, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
Same with the categories. I can add the other album producers to the category section, but if you want, you can add the appropriate categories to the other compilation pages. Rlendog (talk) 01:39, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Disiecta membra poetae barnstar
For rescuing fragmentary works from oblivion through your expansion of Epigoni and creation of Amphiaraus. — the cardiff chestnut | talk23:13, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
I admit it: I made up the barnstar. But there should be one! You're right that it's a shame that these plays exist only in fragments and, still more, it's a shame that even most classicists never study them at all. Most continued to be read through at least the 3rd or 4th century, so even if we have little knowledge of them at all, they still played an important part in the history of Western thought. So kudos for all your diligent work in crafting these articles. I'm going to change the Sophocles template to distinguish between extant and fragmentary plays so that it will be easier to navigate. If you keep up at the rate you've been going, Sophocles' few surviving tragedies will disappear in the mass of his lost works. Feel free to alter what I do to the template. — the cardiff chestnut | talk02:57, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I have been thinking of splitting the Sophocles template between the fragments and extant plays, so I think that is a good idea. I will probably need to slow down a bit on putting together articles on the fragments - I kind of stumbled on some of this by accident while looking up Inachus for a possible article, and I still haven't even gotten back to that. But certainly his Niobe needs an article and there seem to be others for which significant information is available. Rlendog (talk) 03:02, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
I'd hoped to do a bunch of these myself, but have too many other WP and real world responsibilities. I do have a bunch of books on the subject at my apt., so If you need any bibliographic assistance with the Inachos or Niobe, send me a note. — the cardiff chestnut | talk03:42, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

George Harrison at DYK

I've given Template:Did you know nominations/Beware of Darkness (song) a review, and it's all good to go - but I've suggested a relevant Commons image which might be suitable for accompanying the hook, if you'd like to have a look. Have to say, it's a humbling sign of how far Wikipedia still has to expand when we're still piecing together new information on artists like George Harrison! GRAPPLE X 04:35, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I like it but I think I missed the window of opportunity since the hook has already been promoted to the queue. Thanks for reviewing it and for the suggestion. Rlendog (talk) 19:44, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

MSU Interview

Dear Rlendog,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Hostess CupCake

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Hostess CupCake. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Hostess Cupcake. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Hostess Cupcake - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Hghyux (talk) 01:41, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

An error on the Feb. 20 AfD log

This recent edit of yours seems to be associated or coincidental with some issue on the log. Could you look at the log and help me figure it out? Thanks! BusterD (talk) 23:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

To be more specific, look at the entry just above the discussion for Messieurs. BusterD (talk) 23:49, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Figured it out. An ip had blanked most of the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alejandro Correa Rueda discussion, leaving no AfD section close, and appearing to enclose the entire log in the blue box. It was easy to fix, but something I didn't recognize from anytime before. Have a good night! BusterD (talk) 00:18, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for notifying me. I think that the article's subject and creator was expressing his dissatisfaction with the deletion decision. I left a message on his talk page informing him of his options if he wishes to attempt to restore the article. Rlendog (talk) 18:07, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello Rlendog,

You can publish the new article User:Alejandro Correa Rueda as Alejandro Correa Rueda, qualifies. Thank.

All the best! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.21.82.230 (talk) 19:24, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, this page does not address the issues that caused the original article to be deleted in the first place. In particular, all the references are authored or co-authored by the subject. As such, it does not meet the Wikipedia notability guideline of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent (emphasis added) of the subject." If this article was replaced into mainspace, it would almost certainly be speedily deleted per criterion G4 "Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion." Such pages may be recreated if they address the issues raised in the AfD discussion, but as this page stands right now it does not. Right now, I do not think you need an administrator to move or copy the page into mainspace, but again, if it were done it would almost certainly be speedy deleted and possibly salted, which would make it more difficult to recreate if and when the article does satisfy the notability guidelines. Rlendog (talk) 20:01, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
But the subject is accomplished and active in an important area of judiciary. Furthermore, he has to leave his country (Chile) to Spain in 1989 for political persecution. Articles like this can be the seeds that other worthy articles sprout from. The originator and interested editors are encouraged to make a page. On the other hand he wrote a book and that's enough to be notable notability guideline and Wikipedia:Notability, Thank.
I don't doubt that any of this is the case, but without being able to demonstrate that there are independent reliable sources supporting these facts, the article is unlikely to be retained under Wikipedia's notability guidelines. And as the page stands right now all the citations were authored by the subject and thus would not withstand the independence criterion.Rlendog (talk) 19:30, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Merge discussion over the article List of Hot 100 number-one singles of the 2010s (U.S.)

Dear Rlendog. I just wanted to let you know that a merge discussion is currently taking place regarding the content of this article (as you probably remember, you participated in an AfD held over this article in the past) and the content of the rest of the U.S. number-one by-decade series of articles. There are alternative approaches to demonstrating notability, for example the specific standard for academics, and there is also a specific standard for books. But as of now I don't see evidence of these being met. I would not move an article to mainspace under those circumstances, but as I said earlier, I don't think anything prevents you or anyone else from moving this page into mainspace. However, I am fairly certain the outcome of doing so will be that it will be speedily deleted, and likely salted to prevent continual recreation without meeting the guidelines. Rlendog (talk) 01:40, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Please express your opinion on this matter in the current discussion. Thank you. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 21:00, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
