Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Lalitgiri do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.

edit Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Writers' Building. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Disambiguation link notification
editHi. When you recently edited St. John's Church, Kolkata, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page William Dalrymple (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Lascar War memorial
editAt first I would like to thank you for creation of this lesser known monument. I had no idea regarding the existence of this monument, prior to this article. I would surely visit it next time I am in Kolkata. I have marked it on Google Maps as well, so that it is easier for others to find. I request you to nominate the article at Do you know section of the Wikipedia, so that it can appear in the main page. Kindly select a suitable hook and nominate it along with a picture. You can nominate the same at the nominations page. Let me know, if you are facing any problem with the process. Amartyabag TALK2ME 09:38, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

editHello Rangan Datta Wiki, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. I am sorry to say, that your additions to Lascar War Memorial seems to be a close paraphrase in parts and outright copy-paste from few sources. Hope you understand the problem and rectify it by rewriting. Amartyabag TALK2ME 05:46, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- I gave the award on good faith, as you being a known responsible Wikipedia editor I never doubted that a significant content can be too closely paraphrased/copied to cross-check with sources. This source provides that the monument has chhajjas and trellises. Kindly check the links in sources, which shows that significant amount of the article has been copied. Given as follows are the duplicate detector reports of the links [1] [2] and [3]
- I appreciate the efforts taken by you in rewriting the info. However, in the current situation, I can find that it is free from alteast copy-pasted text, however the case of close para-phrase cannot be ruled out. I am not the best person to re-write it free from close-paraphrasing. You can make a request at WP:GOCE for rewriting. A tip from my side would be, first read the sources, memorise it and write the article from the memory, it reduces chance of close-paraphrasing/copy-paste effects. Hope for future contribution from you. Articles about the Chinese temples in Kolkata would be interesting. Amartyabag TALK2ME 09:33, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
- Rangan da , I am sorry if I have offended you in this discussion. Wikipedia may look a bit confusing in the starting. I appreciate the efforts taken by you and no doubt this article and other contributions have to be commended. I request you kindly not to take this personally. I am willing to help you in the process if needed. A request, please don't leave Wikipedia, may be we can collaborate together for making this better. Amartyabag TALK2ME 14:42, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. As it stands the draft only describes her on a genealogical basis, and that alone doesn't give her notability (see WP:NOTINHERITED). You would need to find more sources that make clear that she has notability in her own right (for example, as a social leader in her community or on account of her philanthropic activities) if a separate article is to be shown to be warranted.
