About Infobox settlement

edit

I think the template documentation should mention the possibility of adding multiple 'seat' fields ('seat1_type' and 'seat1' etc). But since the template is edit-protected, somebody should ask an admin to add it to the list.--Nero the second (talk) 00:23, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

When templates are edit protected, their documentation is usually not. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 18:15, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Infobox UK Cathedral

edit

hi. I don't know if this is the right place for this, but it's your name against the suggestion to get rid of the above template. I think this is a bad idea since cathedrals are administered and staffed materially differently from the churches with which it hasten suggested the infobox should be replaced. for example, churches (c of e) have vicars or rectors. This is one person, always a priest. There can be other clergy, also priests. At a cathedral there is instead something called a Chapter which by law is a mixture of clergy and lay people. This used to be properly displayed in Durham Cathedrals entry. It cannot be displayed using a church infobox, and is currently malfunctioning on the UK cathedral one. By all means let's fix the cathedral template, but not delete it.

How do I know all this? I'm one of those lay members of chapter — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dde0apb (talkcontribs) 22:03, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Discussion was at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2011 September 6#Template:Infobox UK cathedral. Any fix needs to be applied to the church infobox. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 22:13, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

A message of thanks from The Children's Museum of Indianapolis' star dinosaur, Dracorex, for contributing your opinion in our E-Volunteer survey. Thanks for your time. You're the best! LoriLee (talk) 19:59, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to add the GLAM:TCMI userbox ({{User WP GLAM TCMI}}) to your page and if you're interested, here are some more ways you can help. Thanks for your helping in adding TCM info to the QRpedia article. It's been a thrill to be involved in that project. Thanks so much! LoriLee (talk) 20:19, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Infobox ballet company

I have seen you adding microformat classes, and I just created this one, but have no clue how to add the classes (see what links to it to see what monstrosities it replaced). Thank you. Frietjes (talk) 21:13, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Provocateurs

edit

I was intrigued by the exchange on the matter of Meta- and Linked Data at Talk:Richard D'Oyly Carte.

The flaunting of "!!!***-->> SARCASM <<--***!!!" is characteristic of a certain echelon that presides over a range of articles at Wiki.

Any retaliation in a similar vein to this coterie are grounds for charges of "incivility" and expulsion - via an adminsitrator - from the website.

You, Andy, are not, apparently, vulnerable to such discipline; others are: the quality of the contribuions suffers for it. So does the reputation of Wikipedia.

I'd use my signature, but I don't care to be hounded for the preceeding remarks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.181.61.102 (talk) 19:34, 22 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I happen to have read your remarks, 209, since I was on this page anyway.
I really can't say that I agree with them.
And do editors at this level "hound" people? Not in my experience.
But, then, I have not looked into these specifics.
A prima facie reaction, Varlaam (talk) 21:18, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's probably intentional, but ...

Your User page does read "Wikipeida activity". (Note logical punctuation.)
But then my eyeglass prescription does need an update ...

It wasn't intentional; I've now fixed it. Thank you. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 22:08, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Entrapment

edit

Please be mindful when editing article leads, like you did here with Entrapment. Although your attempt at 'globalising' the lede was surely well-meaning, the whole concept that entrapment was a term specific to U.S. legal code was only introduced in the edit just before yours – removing this assertion would have been enough. Your edit left the article without an intelligible WP:BEGINNING to someone who does not know what "entrapment" means, and these modifications have now been undone. --hydrox (talk) 02:24, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
