Proposed deletion of Forward Party of Utah

edit

The article Forward Party of Utah has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable local affiliate of small national party. Fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deprodding of The Rodeo Boys

edit

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from The Rodeo Boys, which you proposed for deletion, because its deletion has previously been contested or viewed as controversial. Proposed deletion is not for controversial deletions. For this reason, proposed deletion is disallowed on articles that have previously been de-prodded, even by the page's creator, or which have previously been listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{proposed deletion}} template back to the article, but feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! TartarTorte 02:19, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Wasn’t aware of there being a separate procedure for a second nomination. It is my first time with that situation, may I ask for any tips?
Thank you for your help! PeacockShah (talk) 02:48, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi @PeacockShah. No worries at all, a 2008 AfD isn't necessarily the easiest to find. The best way to go about getting the ball rolling for deletion per your reasons outlined would be to start another AfD. There are steps outlined WP:AFDHOWTO, but essentially they boil down to the following:
1. Put {{subst:afdx|2nd}} on The Rodeo Boys
2. Create the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Rodeo Boys (2nd nomination) with this {{subst:afd2| pg=The Rodeo Boys| cat=O| text=The band is insufficiently notable, and the references either mention it in passing or in a hyper-local context. None of the members are notable enough to have pages, and they effectively played bar gigs for most of their existence, a very standard fair that is hardly qualifying for notability as a band. Further, the article does not have a single citation.}} ~~~~ The text I took is from your WP:PROD nomination rationale on the page for The Rodeo Boys verbatim, you can feel free to write your own rationale that is different; I'm just trying to help provide a template.
3. On Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2023 June 27 add {{subst:afd3 | pg=The Rodeo Boys (2nd nomination)}} to the top of the list of AfD noms.
4. Notify the creator of the article (Andrew3069) with this on their talk page {{subst:Afd notice|The Rodeo Boys (2nd nomination)}} ~~~~
You can also enable Twinkle and use the XFD option in the menu bar to have it automate all those steps for you. TartarTorte 03:00, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. PeacockShah (talk) 22:52, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited John M. Berrien, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Elliott. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but what's with all the hoaxy election boxes on your user page? Drmies (talk) 23:46, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I write two alternate election series on Reddit (https://reddit.com/u/Peacock-Shah-III)! The eldest (Peacock-Shah Alternate Elections) started in May of 2021 and has 146 years of lore written up to now; I can attach a link of the complete compendium of posts if you are interested. PeacockShah (talk) 23:54, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clearing that up. Please don't use Wikipedia for that kind of thing--thanks. Drmies (talk) 00:00, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's just my sandbox, those are open. I can give you many examples of other folks who do the same. It's not like I'm editing actual pages. From Wikipedia's guidelines on sandbox usage:
"Users have more freedom when editing the sandbox; users can post content there that would normally violate policies. However, there is still a lesser degree of editing restrictions in the sandbox; for example, users may not post legal threats or libelous/defamatory material." PeacockShah (talk) 00:49, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you cite to me the specific restrictions on this that would contradict what I quoted? I, and all others who maintain user sandboxes, are wholly in line with Wikipedia regulations as far as I am aware. PeacockShah (talk) 00:54, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
They were hoaxes. Drmies (talk) 03:15, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you please cite to me the rule being violated? It seems explicitly permitted under the terms. If I wrote a short story in my sandbox, would it be a hoax? PeacockShah (talk) 21:03, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
A short story in a sandbox violates WP:NOTWEBHOST. WP:FAKEARTICLE applies to user pages, and the first two paragraphs of Wikipedia:User pages apply as well here. Drmies (talk) 16:45, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clearing that up! PeacockShah (talk) 17:04, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
