CorbinSimpson's Request for Adminship

Thanks for voting in my request for administrator rights, even though it failed (13/30/4). Sadly, work has forced me to respond to you all using a substituted message rather than a personalized response. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that administrators, to me, should be chosen and approved by the community, and I will continue working to become a better editor and Wikipedian. No matter what the alignment of your vote was, I will take your comments seriously and use them to improve myself. If you wish to discuss your comments personally with me, I would be more than glad to talk about things since the RfA is now over; just leave your concern on my talk page and we will sort things out. Thanks again for voting, and happy editing! - Corbin Be excellent

Wah! It's like, a person! From, like, another! wiki!

I'm rambling, aren't I? Anyhoo, I'd like for you to be more active at the Fanstuff wiki. It's awesome with you there. Pweez? → Seriously

Well, now I created an account. It's cool here. It doesn't have the same community feeling as the fanstuff wiki, but it's pretty good. I'm amazed at how fast recent changes goes by, though. Rceent changes is pretty much useless here. Oh well. ←Seeyanexttime45 11:33, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Blockings

Hello, SushiGeek, I am Peytonio. I am just wondering why I have been blocked. It says you have issued the block. It may just be an accidental problem, but if it wasn't, I would appreciate any reason as to why. Again, I am sorry if this is just an incidental blocking. Thank you for your time. --Robert P. Cline (Peytonio) 02:36, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Apparently, the block only happens when I push the little edit words right above the sections of the articles. When I click the "Edit this page" tab at the top, it works. I believe it is only an accidental block. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. --Robert P. Cline (Peytonio) 02:40, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Did I seriously scare you away

You know, saying "fuck you" does have some CIVL concerns, whats stressing you today, theres obviously something messed @ school or something thats ticking you off. Come chat, feel better, it works! -- Tawker 02:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your input

Wise I'll try to be.

Even though you didn't feel I had enough experience, I appreciate your comments, and hope that I am able to demonstrate appropriate adminship with the experience that I do have. -- Natalya 05:16, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Macadamian nut oil delete request

Could I ask why you denied the db-author request for Macadamian nut oil? I'm in the process of replacing links of the form Macadamia nut oil with links like Macadamia nut oil, so that the reader can tell that, while there is no article specifically on the oil, there is a more general article that might be helpful. By leaving the redirect page, there's no way for the reader to know. Could you please delete the page? Thanks. Waitak 07:38, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Jumped the gun, sorry. And thanks! Waitak 07:39, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay, now I am confused... Could you delete Macadamian nut oil, please? (1) it's a typo (It should be "Macadamia" nut oil) and (2) what I said above does apply. Sorry if I've managed to confuse you, too, in the process. Waitak 09:08, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

please undelete FAST - Fighting Antisemitism Together

Could you please undelete FAST - Fighting Antisemitism Together? I think when you re-read the article, you will agree that the group is at least somewhat noteable, particularly with its connections to Tony Comper, the president of Bank of Montreal. TruthbringerToronto 08:28, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Void deletion

Recently you deleted a page called Void (guild) I made this page because I am no good with most other website makers and I needed a website to make a page for it. I was wondering if you could not delete this if I made a similar page but with the page from my User Page. Thanks, žέέρłǿ 23:06, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

I notice you're an admin and you voted on this case. Would you please note that User:Ackatsis has been vandalizing the page by removing parts of the discussion? After I noted the vandalism on the page itself, he/she removed my notice: [2] I honestly don't mind whether the article is kept or deleted, but shouldn't action be taken to stop irresponsible users from voting? --Grace 19:24, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

My RFA

SushiGeek, thank you very much for your support, and nomination of my recent Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. If at any stage you need to contact me, for help or a request or to point out a mistake in my conduct, please make sure to tell me on my talk page. --Fir0002 08:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Sea urchin and urine

Actually, I was told when studying sea urchins in Curacao that urinating on the site of a puncture wound is a folk remedy for sea urchin spine injuries. I didn't insert the remark into the article. I never saw it done, never tried it myself, and don't know of a good published source for this, but I have every reason to believe it was a good-faith addition to the article. I think I'm going to put it back with a "citation needed" tag. Keep the article on your watchlist, as I will. The item should be removed eventually if nobody finds a published source for it. Dpbsmith (talk) 12:19, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Changed my mind. This is much too close to offering medical advice and we should just stay away from it. A Google Books search does show a published source: a number of travel books by Harry S. Pariser, e.g. [3], say "take a blunt object to mash up the spine inside the skin so that it will be absorbed naturally. Then dip the wound in urine; the ammonia helps to trigger the process of disintegration." So far so good. But, given that an emergency medicine text[4] says "External percussion to achieve spine fragmentation is contraindicated" and "Spines within a joint or adjacent to a neurovascular structure should be referred to a surgeon to extract all fragments as soon as possible, and surgical exploration for embedded particles should be delayed until a diagnosis can be made by soft tissue radiography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)," it seems that self-treatment could be unwise advice. WikiProject NASCAR proposed standards

WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Wikipedia guideline. The guidelines will help editors understand Wikipedia consensus about things like which NASCAR-related articles meet notability standards. Please stop by and let us know what you think! Userbox

Hello. A userbox you are using (Template:User heterosexual) has been moved to user space per WP:GUS. The new link is {{User:UBX/heterosexual}}. The link currently being used on your page is a cross-namespace redirect and will not last. If you wish to keep your userbox, it is advisable to change to the new link. Thank you. —Mira

I noticed in your edit summary that you wrote "Next time, I'd like someone to fix that for me." I would have fixed it for you, and added the category back in too, but your userpage is protected. Sorry. —Mira 02:08, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Dear One/Archive 4,
Thank you very much for your contributions to my recent RfA. I am pleased to announce that it passed with a tally of 72/11/1, and I am now an administrator. Although you did not choose to support the request, I can assure you that I have taken your advice to heart and will be a better administrator for it. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the tools, but please let me know if there are any admin jobs I can do to help you, now or in the future. —Cuiviénen 02:24, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello One/Archive 4, and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, my dear SG!

To my dear SushiGeek, a hard working editor who truly understands the value of kindness!
A big hug,
Phaedriel

My dear SushiGeek, first of all, please allow me to thank you from my heart your kind offer to nominate me for RfA, which has deeply touched me. Regardless of whether I end up having a go there or not, which doesn't really worry me right now, it is your gesture that I value; and if all the fuss currently going on at my Talk page (which has caught me entirely by surprise, I must confess!) has served a purpose, I'd like to think that such purpose was to meet you and talk to you for the first time. Yours is one of those names I see so often, and always bound to a thoughtful comment, that I must say I'm truly honored that you've approached me. Indeed, adminship is no big deal; but in my eyes, friendship is, and from now on, I consider you a friend of mine. Should you ever need me in any way, or if you simply feel like talking for no other reason than spending some time, you'll always be welcome to visit me. Once again, thank you, dear SG - a big hug, and have a beautiful weekend! Phædriel tell me - 03:22, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Basketball

Hello SushiGeek. I have come across your name as it is association with the WikiProject Basketball. I'm wondering, in Wiki there is a page about Hockey Pucks (Puck) and about Baseballs (Baseball object) but their does not seem to be a corresponding article on the history of the actual ball used in basketball. I thought of this after hearing about the NBA coming out with a new ball today and I thought I would learn about the old ones on WIKI and I couldn't find it. Do you have someone on the project that you can designate to write this up? Title should be Basketball (object) to match the baseball version. KsprayDad 01:23, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Ray Comfort and the banana

Please refrain from adding that sentence about Comfort's lack of knowledge of the banana. It is full of POV (in wording and intent). Also, you did not add a citation proving that bananas are indeed a work of humans. When you do add citation proving this, I will stop removing it. But if you do find citation and add the sentence, try to word it in a neutral matter. Also, I looked at the banana article and found nothing stating that the banana is indeed created by humans. Cultivated does not equal created. To be sure I even looked up cultivated in the dictionary. The banana was simply modified for mass production, not created. Editing the Baseball Network Page

I don't want the way the page is formatted to be radically altered. For example, I want the quotes to be in italic so that they're easier to seperate from the rest of the paragraphs. To me it doesn't make things look neater, it just makes it look more rough around the edges. I honestly feel that I know more about The Baseball Network (based on the references, amount of research, and resources) more than anybody on Wikipedia.TMC1982 1 July 2006 (UTC)

This has got out of hand now, with different revisions in different places. My suggestion as to what to do now:

Either

  • Revert the userfication for the TfD to run its course,

or

  1. Close the TfD as userfy
  2. History-merge User:SushiGeek/Title into User:ais523/Sandbox/Title (deleting my version, moving onto my version, and undeleting my version onto the template)
  3. Move the composite template (left as my version with both histories) back to User:SushiGeek/Title
  4. Delete the redirect from my userspace (as I don't need the sandbox once the merge is finished)
  5. Edit the documentation to remove the reference to the location of the history
  6. Update the relevant userpages from {{title|(new title)}} to {{User:SushiGeek/Title|(new title)|void}} (the last parameter supresses the wrongtitle message).

Sorry for helping to cause this mess, but it's reached the stage where only an admin can sort it out. --ais523 15:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

You seem to have got The Wrong Version. Do you mind if I change the coding to incorporate my non-Monobook compatibility changes? (e.g. compare [5] to [6]). I think the best thing to do now would be to make it parameter-compatible but add my code to align it exactly in Monobook and disable it in all other skins except Classic (in which it would still be broken); I'll take out the reference to {{wrongtitle}} because it isn't really compatible with user pages. --ais523 15:57, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
