editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page MC Shadow has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://kido-backintheday.blogspot.com/2008/01/get-loose-crew-get-loose-crew-ep-1988.html (matching the regex rule \bblog(?:cu|fa|harbor|mybrain|post|savy|spot|townhall)?\.com\b). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Redirects
editHi Oldschoolmc. I have requested the deletion of the redirects you created recently. The purpose of a redirect is to allow people to find articles using alternate titles. Your redirects on the other hand use trivia answers or other characteristics of the subject. Some are also under somewhat contentious titles, or rather it's not necessarily true or obvious that the target of the redirect matches the title of the redirect. @Robert McClenon: Thank you very kindly Robert. I can appreciate in hindsight some points made. I am a fan of this artist and genre and his contributions to music and his community and his personal struggles. Thank you for being considerate and allowing for this more improved topic being revived. I am no expert in this forum like yourself and have learned to present topics greater supported by citings and quality material for reading and considering. 1. I am not MC Shadow or Kory Neely and I do not have a personal relationship or connection by way of professional or personal to the person. The connection is that I live in the same city (he lived in Toronto), have a strong interest in Rap Music and the History of Rap in Toronto, (unsuccessfully), attended concerts and seminars related to the time frame of this person and know of Toronto Rap Artists that share the same timeline in the history of the music. It needs to be noted and understood that I have communicated to Kory (aka MC Shadow) of the challenge to delete the page, contributions and other information related to him. I have requested that if he is able to point me to any supportive citation, additional or further substantive information, sources or persons that can support the defense to NOT DELETE the information to do so forthwith. To that end, there are highly credible and relevant sources, established individuals and organizations with information and credible research to support this topic as legitimate and not as a lengthy “Publicity Campaign” as has been suggested. That information is included below. 2. In addition to the memorabilia I collected through the 1980’s music period, I collect other works and property as I believe they have historical value and potential artifact quality. I am not a professional researcher or writer. I am not in the entertainment business at all. I am not in publicity or any sort of promotion and my intent IS and has always been to CONTRIBUTE to a topic that has several other related topics that I am interested in and BELIEVE are suitable to be included in Wikipedia. I admire academic researchers and biographers etc. They are some bright and smart people. I am not sufficiently equipped to do that work. I would love to write books about people as a ghost writer perhaps, but again I am not good enough to do that work. I take pride in my investigative and data gathering skills that I have done as a small part of the Wikipedia project. I feel that my small contribution has been a suitable contribution and the content I have proposed has been reviewed and edited by other people on the platform. Some memorabilia directly related to this artist (person) were on loan and to display at the CBC Hip Hop Music Summit in a display case, and on the wall of the Glen Gould Studio. There is photographic proof of this claim. 3. I have not received any compensation nor do I expect to receive any for the entries I have made on Wikipedia for this person or the related Topics Get Loose Crew or East Park Productions and I am not employed by them, I do not hold any interest or stock in the companies. My communication with the person and other individuals associated with the person whom have been identified and are locatable has been to question and challenge the veracity of information and or statements in the public forum and to investigate citations to support those claims. Ironically, the member of their group who acted as a curator/historian and possessed memorabilia and other items; audio interview, television interview, documents and other property passed away last year. There has been an ongoing attempt to obtain copies of the original documents to assist in supporting citations through negotiation of cost, but no appraisal was ever done to determine value for sale purposes. I also am not going to shell out unreasonable monies for collection purposes. The last word from people representing his (Leonard Grant-Stuart) estate, is that the items have been disposed of or are otherwise not available. Other members of the group have different items and different viewpoints as to sale, copy or release. They all point to research studies and projects and name people to contact whom have done interviews and potentially could assist. I have received the names of those people, academic institutions they serve and the scope and validity of their projects. I can attest to validity of the parties and can provide their contact information for further investigation. The 3 specific individuals 1) Graduate School Researcher and former Vancouver DJ interviewed this person and others as identified as local pioneers that played a crucial role in developing the local (Toronto) scene, 2) An adjunct professor at Toronto's Ryerson University, as well as the founder of Northside Hip Hop Archive whom is a contact to the person (artist) and surrounding artists, hosted the TDot Pioneers Exhibit collected and displayed artifacts and information related to the artist on his organization’s website and his knowledge of the Canadian/Toronto hip hop music scene. The Topic person discussed here was an attendee and photographic proof shows him with other pioneer individuals that established hip hop in Toronto. I don’t know these individuals or how to contact them but know of their performances and presence on radio and video in Toronto. 3) A postdoctoral fellow at the Jackman Humanities Institute, University of Toronto. conducting academic Research study that traces the history of Toronto Hip Hop, and the relationship that Hip Hop practitioners and industry professionals have had to the music marketplace and creative industries in both the City of Toronto and Canada. Invited the person (artist/topic) to participate in this research because (quote from release issued) “he has been identified as prominent member of Toronto’s Hip Hop history and the history of Canada’s culture industries.” This research project, which will focus on the historical period of 1985 – 2020 and include the interview material of 50 participants, will explore how the Toronto Hip Hop scene has unfolded over the past thirtyfive years.
This research conducted by Dr. Francesca D’Amico-Cuthbert a postdoctoral fellow at the Jackman Humanities Institute – housed at the University of Toronto. A historian of Hip Hop culture and Black popular music to date, her published research has focused on the history of Hip Hop and Rap music (in both the United States and Canada), Hip Hop pedagogy and educational curriculum, and the history of other Black popular music forms such as Soul, Funk and Disco. *This latter section is from a document release form that was emailed to me by the person that he has provided to the people doing the research.
Peripheral source information that I have been researching and trying to obtain copies of include: An interview with (also a Topic) Maestro Fresh Wes (Wes Williams) on MTV (City Much Music Toronto) whereby he comments and acknowledges the accomplishment (details contained within Topic) on the ‘Get Loose Crew’ (related Topic) inclusive of the person/artist MC Shadow and also an Episode of ‘Narduwar’ (also a Topic) where he discussed and acknowledges the group (Topic Get Loose Crew) and (Topic MC Shadow) and is holding a copy of the groups 1988 release in his hand, in camera view. Research has been ongoing to identify the Episode, segment and specific time to cite as a reference in support of both topics.
As my interest and attained knowledge is this person, their band I have chosen to “stay in my lane’ with respect to my submissions. I know a lot about the times, the players and event of that time but have confined my contributions to my interest and information avenue access. To be forthright and candid, I do have knowledge and experience with other things in life, but I don’t find the passion or interest that contrasts this opportunity of submitting on a topic I am familiar with. I shouldn’t feel attacked, bullied or belittled because of whatever, whenever or how much of a contribution (specific, dedicated or remote) I make.
I have reviewed the guidelines and rules. I am compliant, I do not have any COI and I am not Kory Neely.Oldschoolmc (talk) 19:35, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
