City of Derry airport

It's been already discussed, and we came to a consensus that we should use the real city served (or city+name if multiple airports) in the destinations list, not the advertised one. This is now a guideline. As all points of view should be presented in Wikipedia, the name used by the airline is also added to the destinations list of the airline (Ryanair destinations in this case). So as "Prestwick" is the official airport name and the city served, it should be listed "Prestwick" in this airport article (as it is already in other articles). The warning you sent me is actually very interesting: it says "Comment on content, not on contributors", which is exactly what you're not doing (not giving any argument about the title of the article, but trying to write something in French because I'm French). Therefore, I don't think telling you're being narrow-minded is an attack, but just a fact. If you changed your mind and are finally ready to discuss about the article content, just let me know. Stockholm-Skavsta Airport

What language are you referring to? The destination-list was outdated and the referenses was unformated, some of them was dead links and they didn't support the statements. Some parts of the edit just didn't flow correctly. I have now amended your edit instead of reverting. Also the way the airports were listed weren't uniform with other airports destination lists. I have also removed the small paragraph regarding airlines and destinations as that is what the table shows. Apologies for finding it easier to revert than amend in the first instance. Thanks for not just reverting me again, it took some time to make the edits! Also, it is hard to learn when just reverted and not told what is wrong :) Anyway, thanks for improving the language and list, and please let me know if there are more problems with the current version. The paragraph regarding airlines and destinations is probably unnecessary. Whoops, references are restored. The main issue was just the use of parentheses instead of "-". This is normally the best way of listing two or more airports which serve one area. If in doubt, just check what other pages that serve the airport, list the airport as and follow that. --NorthernCounties (talk) 18:00, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Fact?

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but you just can't remove the citation needed template with the words fact as you did twice at Londonderry railway station. One of the foundations of WP is reliable sources and if it is fact (and I agree with you that they are) then a RS should be easy to find. Hope you have a good Easter. Hi Bjmullan, I don't mind the addition of tags when the user placing them has made actual attempts to find a citation for the disputed claim, but if you look at some users contribution histories, they seem to roam Wikipedia doing what I see as drive-by tagging. The first one I reverted was concerning the use of both Londonderry and Derry on trains between L'Derry and Belfast. This is true and can be seen on any train departing Great Victoria St for the City, just as the Goldliner coach service do. One point you could note which hasn't been, is that during in-train announcements only Londonderry is ever shown and mentioned by the automated announcer. The last point I did remove was concerning the usage of the service by those from Donegal and Tyrone, one only has to visit Waterside station's car park to see the numerous southern registered cars to tell that this is true. Self research on this topic though would not be suitable for a reference, but the need for a reference in the first place is pedantism. NorthernCounties: as the user who added one of the citation needed templates to Londonderry railway station, I thought I'd explain why I added the tag concerning Donegal and Tyrone. The sentence read "The station also serves [Tyrone, etc.]" which, to me (and I'm sure to other readers), gave the impression that trains from the station serve Tyrone, Donegal, etc. (in the same way that you might say that London Paddington serves the Thames valley and the west of England whereas London Cannon Street serves Kent and Sussex). The rest of the article made clear that the only regular service from the station goes to Belfast and clearly therefore doesn't pass through, say, Donegal. I therefore added the tag to elicit a reference and some refinement: was it that trains once ran from the station to Donegal, that occasional trains still run those routes or whatever? As it turns out, I learn here that the words were meant to mean something else entirely and I've amended the wording to better make that point. --Lincolnite (talk) 02:58, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
