In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. Copyright problems
editHello. Concerning your contribution, Schwalbea americana, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.bragg.army.mil/esb/american_chaffseed.htm (intro-section 2) and http://www.fws.gov/panamacity/species/pdf/americanchaffseed.pdf page 4 (section 3). As a copyright violation, Schwalbea americana appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Schwalbea americana has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Schwalbea americana and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Schwalbea americana with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Schwalbea americana.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 19:13, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- as the reviewing administrator, as far as I can tell the information is OK, being public domain , derived from the US Fish and wildlife Service. I have therefore declined to delete it. 19:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Forget what I posted above; I thought it was copyrighted, but it's public domain. Next time you copy+paste, though, you may want to wikify the text; that is, add article links with brackets (like [[this]]). It makes it easier to navigate. Thanks, JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 20:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
The file File:Computer Worm.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
