The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

editThank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Saurashtra people. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Mr.Sarcastic, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Saurashtra people have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. StudiesWorld (talk) 13:12, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your review! I will rephrase those content which was removed by you shortly. In almost all cases, i have rephrased the content which i have been adding with proper citations but there are very least cases like the one you just encountered. Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 14:13, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

editCopying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of Marathi people into Thanjavur Marathi people. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 15:08, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Diannaa: The names have been copied from the older version of this page Thanjavur Marathi people which i have recently edited. I haven't copied anything outside of this page Thanjavur Marathi people. You can check it here. You have just misunderstood as some of the names were also present in this page also List of Marathi people which i was not aware of at that time. Well regarding attributions, i will keep that in mind in my future edits and also Thank you for explaining about the attributions again.(Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 15:45, 20 January 2020 (UTC))
Stop leaving messages on my talk page
editYou are insisting on retaining *unsourced*, patently false information in Madras bashai, and yet presume to leave a message on my talk page claiming that *I* am violating WP:Verifiability? Hölderlin2019 (talk) 18:57, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Before deleting anything from a page you have to talk through in their talk page which you clearly did not do in this case. Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 19:00, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Would you mind linking me to the policy that says that? I’ve never heard of that particular policy, and I’m rather sure that most Wikipedia editors haven’t, since it doesn’t exist. You should now revert your own revert, since your reinstatement of challenged unsourced material itself violates WP:Verifiability.
While you’re at it, I’d appreciate an explanation of how my edit violated WP:NPOV or WP:Verifiability? Have you even read the latter of the two? My edits are mandated by it, whereas yours flatly contravene it. Hölderlin2019 (talk) 19:03, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- I notice you’ve recently reverted unsourced material without discussing it on the talk page here. Would you further care to explain why you don’t follow your own rules? Hölderlin2019 (talk) 09:54, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Hölderlin2019: Well, I have sourced the content which you previously stated "crap" "non-sense" which is not a good way to address someones content. You should learn some manners and use proper sentences in narrations which you clearly lack your edit history says a lot about yourself. And also, if what i did is wrong there are several editors over here who might have gone through that page Madras bashai and could have reverted my edit but no one seems to have did that. Further You are hiding my messages and warnings from your talk page by blanking the whole warning which is also not a good practice and clearly states your about transparency . I think your whole agenda here is something else and you are harassing my edits and pushing your point of view of in words like "crap" "non-sense" "nonsense from incompetent editor" instead of explaining your point by adding sources and if is to be removed you must add citations verifying the same which you clearly did not. And Regarding Policies read this and familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Vandalism.
- I’ve asked you several questions above, none of which you’ve answered. I’ve also removed your edits from my talk page, since I don’t consider you competent to be making them, and I control what’s on my talk page, not you. You generally seem unfamiliar with Wikipedia policy and how to apply it. Hölderlin2019 (talk) 21:58, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
Unknown User
editDo you have the abilitiy to block user 2001:18C0:61C:700:A96A:AAA7:3688:1448 or know another user who can. He has been making a lot of excessive and unnecessary edits to the Dragon 2 article and numerous other articles. He also has been ignoring our warnings when his edits are undid or reverted and seems to be editing the articles based on his personal preferences or like long running documentaries. Also how do you gain the ability to "revert" edits?--Killamin7 (talk) 13:45, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Killamin7: Well, I have reported him to an admin for his edits on the page Discoverer 17. We just have to wait until someone responds to our cause. And regarding reverts its called "Twinkle" gadget which is a popular JavaScript Wikipedia gadget that gives autoconfirmed registered users many extra options to assist them in common Wikipedia maintenance tasks and to help them deal with acts of vandalism or unconstructive edits. It provides users with three types of rollback functions and includes a full library of speedy deletion functions, user warnings and welcomes, maintenance tags, semi-automatic reporting of vandals, and more. In addition, it gives administrators more tools to help them carry out their duties. Thanks (Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 14:49, 26 January 2020 (UTC))
- @Mr.Sarcastic: Thanks! I actually contacted Ferret about the IP's edits and he went ahead and blocked him for 72 hours (for now). I'll give Twinkle a try.--Killamin7 (talk) 15:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
Please move the page Saurahtra people to Saurashtra Brahmin
editI had added information about Gher Navs/Family Names in the community. Also, I made some changes in other places. Please don't delete it. I added citation from Karnataka United Sourashtra Organization on the Brahminical status further even this article has a line saying Saurashtras are Brahmins who are homogeneous. This time I will make the changes and add this citation near the name itself you can see it from there itself. I think even you might know about Gher Navs and Gotras, I checked for my family name and some of my relatives using wedding cards they all matched. I saw even you are from the Palkar community so you may know about it. Anyway please don't change it. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any queries. Also, I would be happy to work with you on improving this article. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lokeshwaran V R (talk • contribs) 07:04, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Lokeshwaran V R:I agree that you have added content but that too without proper citations. Caste based websites like you cited are not reliable and also the family names you added doesn't have proper sources it's like you have copied it from some matrimonial websites and as such sites are also not reliable. If you want to add content cite with proper academic sources like google books and trusted newspaper articles. As the content you added doesn't include those, i have removed those for now. Also don't make major changes like this without taking consensus from various editors in the talk page. As of now there are very few sources for the Saurashtra Brahmins and most sources cite them as Saurashtrians or Sourashtras. So until proper sources comes the name sticks the same. If you have any doubts feel free to drop a message in my talk page.
Also if you revert back those thrice in a 24 hours stretch you may be blocked from editing and most of your recent actions may appear to others as you are vandalizing the article and pushing your POV without any valid sources. Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 10:03, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
How can you allow hatred ?
editI have been observing Wikipedia is promoting hatred towards a particular community i.e khatri community. You are approving inappropriate content which has no connection with the ancestors of this community being silk weavers. This is sheer misuse of your position as an editor. Rishabkapania77 (talk) 19:38, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Rishabkapania7: It isn't hatred as long as content comes with a reliable citations i revert them at most. Also the Khatris have varied occupations which changes from region to region The Khatris of Gujarat are Silk Weavers and the article includes the regions of Gujarat in it not only Punjabi Khatris. So there is nothing wrong about it. Thanks Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 07:47, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
Reversion at Sankethi people
editDear Mr. Sarcastic, I'm not sure of your background or your credentials as you seem to have a wide variety of interests. To your question of my editing the contents of the Sankethi people page, it is because I myself am a Kaushika Sankethi and what I added is an accurate representation of our community, and the content that I removed is not sourced and against the tradition as handed down in our community. If you are a Sankethi or have wide knowledge of our community, I could discuss things with you, otherwise I'm not sure on what basis you are editing the content of the page that I had updated.NShashishekhar (talk) 02:21, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
- @NShashishekhar: As an editor myself i edit lot of stuffs, and i rely on proper sources be from an academic sources or news from a reliable publisher. As far as i concern elders are not a part of reliable source and Wikipedia also doesn't condemn the hearsay content. Since you removed a part of the Sankethi people without explaining why, i have reverted those. As such i have added tags and added citations for what you have added. You before editing or removing anything from Wikipedia have to discuss those in the respective talk page and if you add something cite them from reliable sources. Thanks Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 07:39, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
Mr. Sarcastic, your points about citations and providing reasons for editing and removing content are taken. However I would like to point out that almost all of our community's (indeed also of India's) past is preserved as an oral history, and so there is importance in tradition and the information bequeathed to us by our elders and ancestors.NShashishekhar (talk) 14:34, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Rollback granted
editHi Mr.Sarcastic. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 19:37, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Reversion about Kumbakonam wikipage
editYou had reverted my edits about Kumbakonam. It's very pathetic that you don't even know the necessary details before reverting. Kumbakonam falls under Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha constituency and the current member for the constituency is Shri.S. Ramalingam. Please be knowledgeable when you do these kind of work. And also as per Indian civic laws any place or locality governed by a local body with a population of over 1 lakh can be called a city. It is not that it should be governed by a municipal corporation only. Antovicto (talk) 08:42, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Antovicto: It was reverted as you did not explained what you did in your edit summaries and also you did't even provided any sources for your claim. As per Wikipedia policies and Guidelines Yourself is not knowledgeable and there are no chance what you edit is reliable unless you provide proper sources. It really annoys me that without even reading polices people like you come here to push your pathetic POV on this encyclopedia. So before editing anywhere at least familiarize yourself about these policies
If you would have read your welcome page correctly and come here there would be some use to you. Thanks Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 11:34, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Edit wars in List of Mudaliars and List of Sengunthars pages
editUser: Kavin Mudaliyar has been adding Thuluva Vellala caste personalities like Thiru Vi Ka and Mu. Varadarajan in these wiki pages claiming them as Sengunthars without references. I have added the references that Tamil scholar Thir Vi Ka was from Vellalar community in the List of Mudaliars umpteen times. User: Kavin Mudaliar and their suspected sock accounts have been pushing their POVs thereby creating edit warring saying these 2 personalities belong to Sengunthar without an iota of reference.Srivatsarcot1 (talk) 14:34, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

editHi,
thanks for being so vigilant. In fact my change was relevant as the article was no more orphan. So I re-do the change and will justify it now. Thanks a lot
--Davric (talk) 08:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC):
thanks for the tips. By the way I started on WP 13 years ago and created 500+ articles. Even if I'm always learning, I know a few rules. But as I'm a bit lazzy, yes, sometimes I move too quickly. In the current case, in fact I justified my change in the previous modification but realized that I forgot to remove the "Multiple issues" mention. So did it in the same minute.
Anyway, that's now compliant with WP rules.
Have a nice day. --Davric (talk) 08:17, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

editDo you even understand the meaning of vandalism? My edits are accurately explained here: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:COVID-19_pandemic_lockdown_in_India#Dependence_on_unreliable_sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.170.18.17 (talk) 07:05, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- @122.170.18.17: You are clearly POV-pushing without even backing out with sources. That clearly is a vandalism. Also The Wire is reliable source. So here you are the one who is POV pushing without even attaining consensus. So Get Lost Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 07:26, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

editThe edits you undid weren't me deleting much, but just me reformatting 95% of the article into tables, and the deleting the non-exonymous/ non-encyclopedian 5%. Is there a way I can undo your reversions without having to manually redo the tables? Starbeam2 (talk) 08:18, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Starbeam2: Yeah, Thank you for clearing that out. I have fixed that for you. Please explain in clear about your edits in future in edit summaries to avoid such a revert. Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 08:33, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
I take on board that I need to explain every single change. However, you removed all of my edits, including the ones I had summarised. Basically, I had updated the population figures of my hometown, as of 2018. The current article refers to 2004 figures. I also had removed a link to a page in Spanish that is the Cuban government version of Wikipedia. The website, called Ecured, distorts historical facts, omits others to suit their political aims and is not impartial. I had replaced this particular link with another one which is Wikipedia based. Any chance of restoring my edits? Beowulf2016 (talk) 21:22, 14 May 2020 (UTC)Thanks.
- @Beowulf2016: Thank you for your constructive edits. I have retained your edits regarding population figures of 2018 without removing references that has been there since very long time in the infobox and other places as well. Please explain in clear about your edits in future in edit summaries when you are removing massive references. Regards Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 06:15, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

About my edits
editI don't blame you for your anti-vandalism work. In fact, I truly appreciate them. But I hope you can really distinguish between disruptive and good faith edits. Please don't revert edits arbitrarily for no apparent reason, and don't judge things too quick. The message you sent wasn't really necessary to be sent either. So please be careful in the future. Thank you. 182.30.133.131 (talk) 01:06, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- @182.30.133.131: I haven't reverted abruptly for any apparent reason. I have been doing this for quite a long time and I know what am doing. You clearly replaced name with nameplate with no edit summaries, any editor would have reverted those who is not familiar with the work, also i have checked the source there's not a single mention of what you actually edited. So, don't assume what i did was wrong, i was extremely correct on my part, you should have edited with a proper edit summaries which you still don't follow in your recent edit also try to add sources for what you have edited, it's easy for us to cross-check whether what you added is reliable or not as such edits made by you can't be trusted as long as you provide reliable sources for those. "We go by sources, not on editor's knowledge". I request you to follow simple Wikipedia Guidelines from your welcome page. Also don't be so quick to judge on other editors about their work, from your edit history, i can see lot of editors have told the same to you, but you instead removed those warnings without even realizing what went wrong on your part, which is not a good practice either. Regards Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 02:42, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Well, it's not like I don't want to be corrected or something like that. But some editors can also make edits that in my mind don't need to be reverted. As an example in the Toyota Etios article, where I only added the term "facelift" to distinguish which models have been updated and which have not, and immediately the edits were reverted because the editor think it had an "comedic" element that I could not understand at all. Does that show some competency? Though the term "facelift" has long been used in many automotive articles, the editor thinks that the term is referring to another meaning, but without further look, the edits were immediately reverted and I was given a warning template. To be honest at that time I was very annoyed. I have also explained the actual term to the editor. It is true that in Wikipedia we must always refer to facts with reliable sources. But for automotive terms like "facelift", it is sufficient to explain that we can see the difference in the appearance of the vehicle before and after a change. Not everything must be accompanied by sources, literally, but it must still be guided by the guidelines on Wikipedia.
- Regarding sources, I also always try as much as possible to add reliable sources if there are some new information, and add the "citation needed" template if there is a doubtful statement. I can judge whether a statement can be justified or not. I am not adding information haphazardly. But if you please, pay attention to the future edits if I make a mistake again. As per the guidelines, I will add the edit summaries as much as possible if I make another edits. I just hope that every editor can collaborate and support each other in doing better things in Wikipedia; good faith is one of the most important principle in this case. Regards. 182.30.133.131 (talk) 05:16, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- NB: The fact that I removed the warnings is entirely different thing. Not everyone wants their messages to be seen, regardless whatever the topic it is. 182.30.133.131 (talk) 06:27, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- @182.30.133.131:Well, I Agree to most of your points, but the term "facelift" is an comedic element if you use those outside of automotive articles but if you would have explained in the edit summaries such a revert could have been avoided and when a word like that appears in any other article its most likely a vandalism case. I have seen several such humor based words on other articles and upon checking the facts it would always end up in vandalism only as almost all of them who do such such edits will be random IPs so its hard to trust the edit when its an IP. This all could have been avoided if you would have had a Wikipedia account in the first place also we on general basis check the edit histories and if many of them are good faith then we won't even revert those edits in the first place. If you are going to do more good edits I request you to join Wikipedia and you can do topic specific edits and no one will send you warning templates if its totally good faiths. And also about removal of messages, I agree its a personal matter but it also leads to have a proper transparency about the editors as in Wikipedia, everything you do is totally visible to others regardless of your removal and it also helps us to know about the behavior of their replies on their talk page so that we can come into a conclusion that your edit is indeed a good faith. After-all we are here just to help and improve the quality of articles. Regards Mr.Sarcastic (talk) 07:16, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

editHi. You sent me a message claiming I edited the "Balcha Safo" page. I've created an account to tell you that I haven't. I'm using wifi that isn't secure, so perhaps that's a reason. Anyway, letting you know. CalebWossen (talk) 18:29, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
Regarding Vanniyar
editThe lead section in Vanniyar page doesnt seems to be correct. There is a line "also spelled Vanniya". I checked the source it doesent mention Vanniya as alternate spelling to Vanniyar. So I intend to remove those lines and include the most familiar, recognizable alternate official local name of that caste "Vanniya Kula Kshatriya". If you have anything to say discuss please. Thank you.--Universalrahu (talk) 12:01, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
L. K. Thulasiram moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, L. K. Thulasiram, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Saurashtra Wikipedia
editI see that you are a native speaker of Saurashtra, maybe you can help contribute to Saurashtra Wikipedia by creating new articles? Or is Saurashtra now an obsolete unimportant language in India? --Ernesztina (talk) 06:13, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Padmashalis caste is misrepresented.
editPadmashalis are not shudras. They are brahmins who go into textile business who are classified as vysyas business class . Shudras are farmers and labours . Padmashalis descended from markandeya is not a myth . They are born in the markandeya lineage. Some things are written disrespectfully about this community .please kindly solve this problem as you deleted my edits . KnowledgeHunter9090 (talk) 22:38, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
