Welcome

Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions do not meet the standards set by our guideline for external links. Specifically, links to the Comedy Network's web site should only be applied to shows that originate with that network. While the network may broadcast dozens of series, we do not incorporate links merely because of that. For more information on this, see

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can write {{helpme}} below this message along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Ckatzchatspy 18:45, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello... thanks for your note. As a fellow Canadian, I can understand your perspective on the matter. However, the reality is that Wikipedia's purpose, as defined by consensus, is to provide information - not just links. You're right in stating that it would be nice to have links for Canadian viewers. However, what happens when someone from Britain, or Australia, or any other nation asks for the same thing? Eventually, we end up with a long, somewhat unmanageable list of links. To avoid such a situation, articles are generally limited to a link to the originating broadcaster (or broadcasters). That is why I have left the links to series that are unique to, or created by, Comedy Network, while removing the others. Hope this helps, and please feel free to ask more questions about this (or any other subject) if you wish. --Ckatzchatspy 19:18, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

With all due respect, you weaken your argument when you use a loaded term like "internet racism" where it isn't justified. This isn't about discrimination" in any way, shape or form. Wikipedia is not a directory service, and does not list every possible link; there are other sites that offer that. Links are generally limited to the originating broadcaster, which is why American shows have links to ABC, or FOX, etc., Canadian shows link to CTV, British shows to the BBC, and so on. I said I had left links to "series that are unique to, or created by, Comedy Network". Corner Gas is a CTV show, hence the CTV link - not a Comedy Network link. --Ckatzchatspy 17:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Danielle McGimsie

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Danielle McGimsie, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://shows.ctv.ca/eTalk/Bios/Danielle-McGimsie.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of Danielle McGimsie

edit

A tag has been placed on Danielle McGimsie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Memoemoe! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Elaine Lui - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
