Image copyright problem with Image:Sakamoto_kyu002.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Sakamoto_kyu002.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sakamoto kyu002.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Sakamoto kyu002.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
NASCAR Releases
editHello there. Thanks for adding release dates to NASCAR 4 and 2002. However, flagicons shouldn't be used in infoboxes, the template vgrelease should be used instead, eg {{vgrelease|EU=March 1, 2008}}. See the template page for a full list of country codes. Thanks! Fin©™ 10:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, flagicons are present in a lot of games still. No need to go looking for them, but you might aswell change them when you find them =) Much thanks! Fin©™ 22:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Colors
editHello again, sorry for the delay. No problem, I'm glad to help out. I'm not too sure myself, but I did find this page which looks to be pretty good. As for the code itself, you seem to just add style="background:color" just before the cell you want to color. eg
black | white | black |
is given by the code
{| class="wikitable" style="background:white; color:black"
|-
| black || style="background:black; color:white" | white || black
|}
Hit edit and copy the code from the first example, I was just showing the second so could see at a quick glance. Hope that helps! =) Fin©™ 10:26, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem! Let me know if you need anything =) Fin©™ 14:12, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Train Station articles
editI see you want to create an article for every train station in Japan! Good luck! I had that same idea about one year ago, so far I have created around 2300 station articles... getting there I suppose. However the number of stations in Japan is well OVER 9000. Anyway, I started in Osaka (cause I started just after I got back from Japan and well, it was my favorite city). So I suppose, race you to the end, or something Dex1337 (talk) 02:27, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry if my note sounded threatening or condescending! I was really wishing you luck with your endeavor! I was hoping to spur you on to great things XD
Also, 2300 was not a typo, but I lie - its actually around 2240. See User:Dex1337/Train_Stations for a complete list of every ja station article I have created. Maybe I just have too much free time. Actually, I wrote cause I was hoping to encourage you to beat that number.. cause its like, sometimes I look at the fact that there are around 9500 train stations (although about half have pages already), and its a bit depressing - how many more hours of my life must I waste creating stubs just because I dont care much for redlinks. Please feel free to create train station in any part of Japan - even on lines I am working on. Its actually nice to have someone do it - shows some one cares! Maybe then I could stop creating stubs and watch the GITS SAC SSS DVD sitting on my desk... So sorry if there was any misunderstanding - I was just trying to be friendly!
Anyway, working together is cool. Check out List of Railway Stations in Japan for proper romanization of station names (although I have noticed lately it is not complete!). Also, some time last year I created dab pages for every possible page that needed a DAB for it - so if you have a page that should be dab'd, then it will turn blue obviously and you can create the station name with the correct with the right thing.
Also, as to the layout bit. I originally had that as a sectstub template when the sectstub template was a lot less obnoxious (used to be one line of italics - I don't like the new one). I have it there for two reasons 1) normally that section gets filled out pretty fast by various other people 2) it was on the original template I copied.. and copied and copied like 2000+ times.
As for the BSicon map - its a cool idea - probably need to be in a roll up section on whatever page you put it on. Yes its possible, however, it will take you FOREVER. Also, the hardest bit is finding an accurate map to copy off - I mean I made a few of lines around Osaka a long time ago, but they had to redo because the map I was copying off was incorrect... But if you want to do it - power to you! Anyway, best of luck in your wiki-editing times. Sorry for the incredibly long post... now off to create some more articles XD Dex1337 (talk) 14:16, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Translation of text for a map (from Spanish to English)
editRegarding File:Mapa Lenguas del Mundo.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, I referred your request to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Image workshop#Translation of text for a map (from Spanish to English).

- I have been watching my referral of your request, and now I have received an answer at the same link. If you wish to discuss it further, you can contact the graphist who responded. You will probably find that easier to do before the section is archived.

Re: Rail/Roadmap Icons
editAs you probably noticed I have been inactive on wikipedia for the last 3 months or so, because I have had a really busy end of year period with other things coming up in my life.... As to your actual question, I don't really know much about the icon sets used for creating maps - I experimented with it about a year ago, but my source maps were never good enough to create something decent so I kind of gave up. Hopefully you found your answer elsewhere, otherwise try the talk pages of those various places you mention, sorry I can't help further. Good luck with the editing, I should get around to finishing all those station stubs at some point...
Image Fair Use
editI'm sure the image I want to have on an article does not comply with all fair-use rules or image-uploading policies, but I have to be sure before I upload it. I have uploaded other images with correct copyright banners, but with this image I am unsure. Please Help! I want to upload a modified image of the Pike's Peak International Raceway logo taken from website. Can I do that? If so, what copyright banner(s) must I use? Please leave your input on my talk page! -Mattokunhayashi (talk) 08:47, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- A logo, used on the article about the company, is one of the cases that's clearly okay under policy. Tag it {{Non-free logo}}. Then use the {{logo fur}} template to make a fair use rationale(click the link for instructions). --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 08:53, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well put, Rat at WikiFur. I avoid fair use images myself but the guidelines do allow them if you jump through the hoops indicated. I wanted to comment that I noticed that you added a template to former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series tracks and that you're doing a good job! Royalbroil 12:27, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- I thought you'd appreciate a comment that you're doing a good job! I know you were just adding it to the former tracks. One of them is on my watchlist. Royalbroil 19:30, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Motor Mile Speedway
editThe article Motor Mile Speedway has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not clear how this small track is notable. Lacks 3rd party references
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 02:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
JAL Flight 123
editI have just now read your comments on the talk page, from 2007. In response to this statement:
- "I, for one, think that inspections of every commercial aircraft around the globe should be conducted every few years."
They are. In the US, that is known as the A, B, C, and D checks, which are part of the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP). I think ICAO member airlines do pretty much the same. Aircraft maintenance checks
Got a kick out of your user page. I would like to communicate in more detail, via Email, if you have the time. EditorASC (talk) 03:11, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject New Mexico
editIt was recently suggested that WikiProject New Mexico, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semi-active and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there haven't been much active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. Another user has added the project to the WPUS template and I added it to the list of supported projects in the WPUS main project page but before I take any further action I wanted to contact each of the active members for their input. --Kumioko (talk) 14:47, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:22, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
editUS Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
