Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Matthew Phelps! I am Gosox5555 and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

I also wanted to tell you that I am very impressed by your initial contribution, Gold Parting. I'm nominating it to be on the main page under the "Did you know...?" section. See WP:DYK for more information about it. Keep at it, you have amazing potential. Gosox(55)(55) 18:53, 23 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

DYK nomination of Gold parting

edit

Hi. I've nominated Gold parting, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article here, where you can improve it if you see fit. Gosox(55)(55) 19:06, 23 January 2010 (UTC) Gosox(55)(55) 19:06, 23 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have made a phenomenal first article. I hope to see a lot more quality work from you! :)  fetchcomms 23:14, 23 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Gosox!

I would have replied on your talk page but I really have no idea whatsoever how it works!!! but thank you very much for your message! and thanks very much for nominating me for the front page! (the cookies were good too of course!!) The gold parting stuff was actaully something I've been working on as part of my university, so look out for some other random metallurgical articles over the next few days! Also, i got a question. I was hoping to add my gold parting article as a main page link on the gold article under the gold production heading but the page is locked. How would i go about doing that?? And I hope you read this, maybe ill work out the talk page thing eventaully...... Matthew Phelps (talk) 22:31, 23 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

No sweat, talk pages can be complicated because everyone has different preferences. (I just go with the flow.) Just be sure to cite your sources, and use a wide variety of sources (only post peer-reviewed stuff, not original research). Seriously though, I've been patrolling new pages on and off for six months and it is quite possibly the best writing that I've seen by a new contributor. Keep going! DYK for Gold parting

edit
On February 1, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Gold parting, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
