Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Hyuga CIR. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Hyūga, Miyazaki, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
- instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:44, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you very much Nihonjoe. I did not know about that. I will be more careful. Hyuga CIR (talk) 00:10, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- I also strongly recommend you change your username to represent you, personally, and not something which could be considered representing a group or your local government (yes, I'm familiar with what a CIR is as my wife was an ALT for 3 years). You can request a username change here. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:23, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Done. Thank you so much for your help. I am still new at this. Do you think I should go back and try to remove what I wrote and request the edits instead, or just do that from here on? Hyuga CIR (talk) 00:33, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Just do that from now on. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:38, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, I have one last silly question. One of the sources I was using was a "great big book of city history and archeological findings" which is in print in Japanese and only has a few copies owned by government organizations. If that is a legitimate source, how on earth do I cite it? Hyuga CIR (talk) 00:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Does it have an ISBN? What is the title? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:46, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- New name. (^^) It has no ISBN that I can find. It is called simply "The History of Hyuga City" Edited by the Hyuga Historical Compilation Committee. I also have an address of the editor and the printing company. Macnar28 (talk) 01:35, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Awesome. I recommend using
{{cite book}}
. Just click that link and you'll see instructions on how to use it. Enter the title and other information Japanese, then use trans_title= to give the translation of the title. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 01:46, 9 February 2016 (UTC)- Thank you so much!! - I tweaked the formatting of the reference you added. If you can add the page number(s) for where in the book that information is, that will make the reference complete. I added the parameter to the cite template, so you just have to enter the page numbers. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 03:20, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Also, you should talk to whoever does their website and see if they will update the population numbers on this page to include the 2015 numbers. It would make it much easier if that page had the most current numbers, too (I they are also on the homepage). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 03:56, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Okay. I will look up the page numbers. Might take a little while though. Haha, very true. Nice catch. I find it so interesting the parts of the website they don't notice. Macnar28 (talk) 04:23, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
