Alexandros Gounas

edit

You moved Alexandros Gounas back to the main space. It has two sources, [1] which doesn't mention him, and [2] which verifies his country and date of birth, and nothing else. No evidence for any of the claims in the article has been provided.

Please don't move such articles back to the mainspace. Fram (talk) 11:08, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

The problem here are the edits made by SvG. So I checked what he contributed to the article. So if you check his edits [3], that is references. The later edits are made by other editors. MFriedman (talk) 11:12, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
He provided that Gounas won the bronze medal, that he plays for Olympiakos, and that his middle name starts with E [4]. None of this was in his source. None of this is sourced in the current article. So what did you actually check or cleanup? Fram (talk) 11:17, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I did a google search and saw his profile see here. Winning a bronze medal that is clearly true is not a BLP issue. I didn't notice the "E." was not references, but you can see that here that it's correct. MFriedman (talk) 11:31, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Then reference such things. It is impossible to know which things have been checked and are correct, and which are not checked. Fram (talk) 11:43, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Alessandro Velotto

edit

No SvG issues in Alessandro Velotto? Really? What do you consider to be SvG issues, and how do you check? Please do a much better job, or I will have to move all your promotions back to draft space as well. Fram (talk) 11:47, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Alessia Gennari

edit

Did you really move an unreferenced BLP back to mainspace during a cleanup operation (Alessia Gennari)? Ugh. Just stop, please, you are not helping. Fram (talk) 11:53, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Jorieke Oostendorp

edit

Jorieke Oostendorp: everything in the article was added by SvG. Only two things are sourced; that she played at one time for Polar Bears, and that she competed at the 2007 WC (plus the infobox). The remainder of the text is unreferenced. If you don't feel like adding references for claims in the text, then simply remove them. But don't let medals, awards, competitions, ... stand in the article without a working reference, we have had examples where SvG was quite wrong about these. Fram (talk) 12:29, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

It's also referenced that she is centre back, also that she is 1.80 m, that she is 75 kg, also that she played 150 international matches, also her date of birth, also that she was part of the team in 2007. Just the thing that she was part of the team in 1999 and 2003 is not listed. But don't worry, she was part of the team at these editions. MFriedman (talk) 12:41, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's why I said (plus the infobox)... And I do worry, I see no need to trust SvG or you on such things. Fram (talk) 13:01, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Soorya Thottangal

edit

Hello MFriedman. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Soorya Thottangal, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It's a draft. It's allowed to have no references. Thank you. Primefac (talk) 13:12, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, I should note that the pages created by SvG will be deleted if no improvements are made, so preemptively nominating potentially valid pages for deletion is rather unnecessary. Primefac (talk) 13:15, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'll move your articles back to draft now

edit

After the above examples, I was notified on my talk page that you were still moving SvG articles to mainspace without the necessary improvements or corrections. Apart from the examples given there, I note e.g. Laura van Engelen, which has a source for one aspect, one of her silver medals. Nothing for her personal information or the other medal. Furthermore, she is, based on what is now in the article, not even notable, as swimming at he European Games was a junior competition, not a senior competition. I'll move your articles back to draft now. Fram (talk) 08:06, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

See e.g. also John Conway (water polo), where you left a copyvio added by SvG in the article. Fram (talk) 09:33, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

In Matthijs Lucas, half of the information (added by SvG) in text and infobox is about his brother Thomas Lucas, but neither Svg nor you seemed to realise this, despite the source being titled "Thomas Lucas"! I try to be a bit selective in what I move back, but please don't complain if I move back some perfectly allright articles, as there are too many problematic ones in your moves anyway. Fram (talk) 09:50, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

When you move articles to mainspace, please make sure that the categories are re-enabled, and remove uncertain information like Catalina Fernández is a "retired" player. Unless we are 100% sure that she is "retired" or "former", we should just put th person as "is a player" and not mention their activity status. E.g. Viviana Murillo Chávez is 25 years old, no reason at all to assume that she retired already (in fact, she played with the national team as recent as July 2016[5]). Fram (talk) 12:19, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Fram:, I thought I removed the "retired" from the players, also the position that is in most cases not referenced. Do you know if there is a tool to remove the ":" before the categories automatically? MFriedman (talk) 12:21, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Not that I know of. Fram (talk) 12:22, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Category fixing

edit

Hi,

Thanks for helping out with the SvG project. Can I ask please that when you move the SvG articles back into the mainspace that you remove the lading colon in the categories so they are reactivated?

Thank you,
