Peer Review
Hi, can you close the peer review of List of awards and nominations received by Kamal Haasan. --Commander (Ping Me) 08:07, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Looks like you were busy all these days. Can you close the peer review. --Commander (Ping Me) 14:18, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
- Done, sorry I missed this section amongst all the new ones. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:55, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey Legolas, how's it going. I saw that you've done some reviews at WP:FLC and was hoping to seek your advice. I've been doing some pretty extensive work on Characters of Parks and Recreation for the last few days, and I think it's nearly ready to be nominated for featured list. However, while I've done several FAs in the past I've never really done an FL, so I was hoping you guys could give me some advice on whether you feel it is ready before I go ahead with it. I plan on reading through the article once or twice more for a grammatical copy edit and to possibly tighten the prose in some areas, but I think the substance of it is mostly complete. I'm not asking for an extensive review or anything, just a glance to see if it looks generally up to par. Let me know, if you get the time. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 16:56, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- At first glance, the list appears really exhaustive, well brilliant. Main issue which I can see is the alignment of the images, which I feel appears very haphazard. Some images are breaking into the next section, making the image pertaining to the character in the next section, move further down. The usage of the {{double image}} template appears humorously squeezed, because one of the image is too wide, and one, too narrow. Try to crop the wider image. The last one, that of Fred Armison needs to be somehow moved, 'cause its squeezing the references, although you are using the col-4 width. And I checked in the widest of resolutions possible. These are my main qualms, spotchecks not done. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:16, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the fast response! As per your comments, I have replaced the non-free image with a compilation of licensed pictures of the cast which I cropped myself. I based this on the American Beauty one you directed me to, but please let me know if I did anything wrong. As far as the alignment of the images, I've removed some images so there will be less overlap (including the one of Fred Armisen that was messing up the references), but given that the sections are so short, it seems to me it's unavoidable that there will be some images running over into other sections, at least on computers with very high resolution. Unless you can think of anything else I could do? — Hunter Kahn 23:25, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, it looks so much better now Hunter! Good job. One thing, just try to see you don't have images overlapping two-level sections, like the pic of Alison. Other pictures are fine. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:06, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Just a note to say hi
Hi, thank you for not reverting my edit done for MAD. Actually I have done the similar "cosmetic" change on MCAD, but it didn't meet a happy end. Though I pretty believe it'd actually help the article as (s)well. Well, never mind, and you enjoy the wk/e. Uzerakount (talk) 18:55, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Like a Prayer (song)
On 9 July 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Like a Prayer (song), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Pepsi allowed Madonna to retain her $5 million dollar fee, despite cancelling their sponsorship deal following the controversy over the music video for "Like a Prayer"? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

References
Dear Legolas2186,
I just noticed that the Born This Way and Vogue articles have numerous bare references, which are not using the cite web format. I have no idea how to do this. Would it be possibly if you could format them for me, as you said you would do on the Born This Way talk page?
Yours,
--&レア (talk) 19:00, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
- Theologiae, 5-6 reference formatting is fine, but to format a whole lot of references is not something I signed for. Lets see what reftools say. And I did tell you, read {{cite web}} and then see how that template is used in an article. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:13, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, of course, I just read the article on formatting references and I realise it's a heavier job than I imagined. I'll try to do some myself, but if you could help me to do some as well, I would appreciate that immensely.
- Yours,

Who's That Girl
The article is too long, too pov and clearly a vanity piece by madonna fans. I have started a discussion and a less dramatic culling. As this film bombed it can't be a platform to explain why it should not or could have been better. The detail is excessive, needless and belongs on a madonna website not on wikipedia. Catherine Huebscher (talk) 12:47, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
An editor has twice replaced my Characters of Parks and Recreation photo collage with the original non-free image. Perhaps you'd like to weigh in on this as the talk page discussion I started. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 04:05, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- I replied there, seriously I'm waiting for his/her rationale as to why the NF image passes NFCC. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:12, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Are you sure the "dynamic list" tag is really necessary? I see that other FLs for shows that are still airing (like List of Family Guy cast members, List of cast members of The Simpsons, List of 30 Rock episodes) don't have such a tag, nor do FAs for subjects like ongoing shows (The Simpsons) or living people (Barack Obama, Brad Pitt). I get the concept that the list is going to continue to be revised until the show ends, but I just fear that the tag will give the impression that the list is not stable or is somehow incomplete. — Hunter Kahn 14:35, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- The list is indeed incomplete, and P&R being a new show, compared to the other examples that you gave, is going to be radically changing per season. For bio articles there is no need of the tag, because it is known where the bio article will end, with the death of the person usually (unless you are Michael Jackson and your money-craving nitwit brothers use your attribution for more moolah!) It wasn't long when me and the FL delegates were discussing that whether it was better to add the {{dynamic list}} tag to all the ongoing season lists, character lists and the award lists. So to conclude, lists where a stability is achieved (like Simpsons, Family Guy, Friends etc), there the template might not be necessary since things are not going to be radically different in future, but new lists do require it. Hell even List of awards and nominations received by Madonna, a very recently promoted list, features the template, and Madonna is over 30 years into her career. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:15, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Bio and FA
Hi Legolas! I have a question. I have with me a few Whitney biographies. Two of them are titled Unauthorized (!) I was wondering if the FA reviewers would question its reliability as it's unauthorized? Novice7 (talk) 15:52, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- They might actually. But if its by a reputed author then its fine. Hardly there are artists who authorize biographies. For eg: I use Madonna by Andrew Morton, which, although unauthorized, can be used due to the reliability of the author in question. So try to search the reliability of the author first. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:59, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Karanacs is a fair delegate and she will look into this. Such opposes won't be considered valid. Re: One Question
Sure. What's up? — Hunter Kahn 13:38, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, at a very quick glance, it certainly looks like FA material to me. It appears to be comprehensive, everything is cited, and the sources appear reliable. Although I'm sure somebody will inevitably question the non-free images, they both seem fine to me (the music video and the infobox pic). I haven't read it but it seems well-written, and my quick spot-check on a few of the references seemed fine. I'd say go for it! (If you want me to do a more thorough, top-to-bottom look at the article, let me know. Or, if and when you nominate it for FA, let me know and I'll review it proper there.) — Hunter Kahn 13:48, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, about my edit.[1] The explicit source[2] says "multi-platinum" though the IFPI page[3] that deals with the limits lists the limits "gold, platinum, double-platinum, triple-platinum etc." I had this same discussion some while ago about whether we categorize albums to "gold", "platinum", "double-platinum" and "double or more" and we (have already forgot who plus me) ended up on that compromise. If you want that to be changed, start the conversation for example here. -- Frous (talk) 22:27, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Hey
Can you do me two huge favours? I need a picture of Rihanna and Eminem at the Grammy's performing LTWYL Pt. 2 and an audio sample of LTWYL Pt. 2. I don't know how to add them and make the meet rationale, could you help me out by uploading them please? Calvin • 999 22:33, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- I can make you the audio sample if you tell me what part of the song. However, I have an issue that I'd like Avi's opinion on actually. I think it should really be merged to the original LTWYL page. It is less than a cover, a remake, I think like all covers of similar articles, there should be a discussion over this. Opinions?--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 03:59, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Novice7 or Petergriffin9901 has the software to upload the sample, as for the image, it will never pass WP:NFCC since it is the performing image of two living people. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:03, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- What is your opinion regarding the discussed merge?--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 04:04, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Dpends on whether we can consider it as a cover or alternate version. Cover versions should be merged together, alternate versions can stand on their own, if they are separately released. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:06, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I mean I guess they all are alternate versions. I mean, Carey's IWTKWLI may be a cover, but makes no use of a complete verse, changes the instrumentation, production and everything. So its hard to decide what is the difference. What do you personally think?--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 04:09, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with Lego. Covers (eg Still in Love (Kissing You)) should be in the same article (despite modifications to the song), whereas alternative versions (eg Love in This Club Part II) should be separate articles. Naturally, there are probably some exceptions. Depends on the amount of content. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:42, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Ada + Also, IWKWLI is still the same song, with minor re-arrangements, while LTWYLPII actually takes the same melody and chord progression, but has completely different verses. Songs can have the same chord and melody and can stand as different versions. If that were not the case, we would be seeing "Born This Way" being merged to "Express Yourself". — Legolas (talk2me) 08:13, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- How come you can't have an image of two living people? There is on of Rihanna and Eminem on the Love the Way You Lie article? And I am against merging Part 2 with the original. It's not a cover version, why would Eminem and Rihanna ocver their own song? It's completely different to the original. It's kinda like saying that Empire State of Mind Part 2 (Broken Down) is a cover of Empire State of Mind, when they are so different. Also against it being merged because it was only just made GA this morning lol. Calvin • 999 12:01, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Enthiran reassessment
Hi, I agree that the article was not stable, but other than that in what way do you think "the article is far from being the level article that we expect in GA" --Commander (Ping Me) 07:33, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Stability is a big big factor in GA, plus the amount of fancruft and unreliable sources added in the article, this is not GA quality. The review was a big indication of the immaturity of the reviewer, when he/she passed it even when Fae pointed out the gross instability of the article. And I fucking hate people who bring communal disputes into an encyclopedia, the way some folks have been going loggerheads at the talk page. Do you think I 'm only immersed in music world? No my friend, I have noticed each and every comment from all those who contributed, the so called "Hindi" and "Tamil" folks. I'm ashamed for all of you. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:45, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- To be very honest, I did not contribute much to the article. I guess, I made my first edit to the article only after it passed GA. The reviewer said, "I was very lenient", so don't criticize any reviewer. This happens in every film articles especially Tamil films. The same problem existed in Dasavathaaram too. Infact a lot of Tamil people (Kamal Haasan fans) were against this article rather than the Hindi-speaking people. A lot of unreliable sources and unnecessary stuff were added only after it passed GA. --Commander (Ping Me) 07:55, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not blaming you indivitually or anything. My point is why the hell would this same scenario be repeated for every film article, albeit the ones in Tamil and Hindi? Is Wikipedia a communal zone to lobby your own culture or your own stars? And btw, I am criticizing the reviewer's review, not him/her. This is exactly the same reason I was disgusted to develop these articles. Even if a lot of unreliable sources etc were added, why wasn't it removed rather than kept? Edit warring? Admins could have been easily notified at WP:AN3 of those users insisting on adding fancruft and they are prompt in taking action. Look at what happened to that troll who made comments about unbiased info and made legal threats to Fae. You are a wonderful editor who is trying to develop the articles, but the hostility and the personal attacks and fancruft going on in that zone is just un–believable. — Legolas (talk2me) 08:05, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Regarding personal attacks, I saw these kind of attacks mainly after the arrival of this user. He started editing just before a month, but looked like an old-hand. He was totally against this film (and was prmoting telugu films on the other hand) and was making personal attacks against everyone. He even termed three users (including me) as "Vandalising criminals" on more than ten talk pages and was indef blocked. After the start of the start of reassessment phase he had left WP. He was involved in constant edit-wars almost all the time he spent here. --Commander (Ping Me) 08:37, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Seems like a case of chickening out after block. Many users, who make personal attacks and get blocked for it, later cease to edit even after getting unblocked. Anyways, he/she seems to have learned a lesson. But still, there will be a downpour of users who make these kind of heinous edits to turn a perfectly logical and comprehensive article into a fancruft. — Legolas (talk2me) 09:07, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

- I agree with Avi guys. Guys, thanks and congrats are due when they are due, AKA "Like a Prayer", but BTW is barely C-class. True it holds a lot of information, but the article suffers from NPOV issues, sever prose damage, improperly formatted references and just a general lack of flow or anything of that matter. The song article is great though!--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 03:57, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Lego. How are you? I need an advice. Which part of "End of Time" is best to be uploaded? Jivesh • Talk2Me 08:30, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

- Okay Legolas. Thank you again. Jivesh • Talk2Me 08:03, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Avi. I know its your birthday, but since its raining, care to do a quicky job for me :)? So I over-hauled the song but am having trouble with the credits and track-listings. Hey
Happy birthdayyyy :). I have a question, whenever I add the GA code to pass an article, it always shows on the talk page and the GA banner doesn't appear. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Look on my talk page here on this thread which shows the code I am inputting. Calvin • 999 16:47, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- You also have to put topic=music and page=N, where N indicates the number of the GA review that took place, if its GA1, then N is 1 etc... — Legolas (talk2me) 16:50, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- That's what I've done though? Can you write out the code here so I can see what you do. Calvin • 999 16:54, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- This is exactly: {{GA|~~~~~|topic=music|page=1}} — Legolas (talk2me) 17:52, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- And I just place this where the GAN banner used to be? Calvin • 999 18:15, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
