re: List of Square Enix downloadable games

edit

Alright, I was basing it off of List of Square Enix games, a featured list that I wrote. Like I said, I prefer it to all be in one big list so that you can sort everything by date and such, but I do see where you're coming from. I'll open a discussion at WT:VG to get some other opinions. --PresN 22:54, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not delete or flag potential "spoilers" in Wikipedia articles, as you did in the article Kill la Kill. It is generally expected that the subjects of Wikipedia articles will be covered in detail, and giving a section a title such as "Plot" or "Ending" is considered sufficient warning to the reader that the text will contain revelations about the narrative. Deleting such information makes the article less useful for a reader who is specifically trying to find out more about the subject. For more information, see Wikipedia's guidelines on spoilers. Moving "List of Games with Gold games" outside of the Draft namespace?

edit

I don't mean to be rude, nor do I mean to imply that I "own" the article, but I would like to know why you moved the article from Draft:List of Games with Gold games without discussing it on the Talk page or notifying me whatsoever? The article was not completed, and seeing as I was the main contributor to the article, it would be reasonable to expect that I receive some form of notification on this?

I imagine this wasn't out of malice, and I shouldn't act as though it was, but I must admit that this has annoyed me quite a bit simply for the fact that it's now up for deletion. I appreciate your additions to the article, but I would ask that you discuss large changes to the article (e.g. removing the Platforms and Notes columns, as well as renaming the article to only cover North America) before making them, or at least make them in the Draft version rather than making them in the full article at the time of "publishing". --Nicereddy (talk) 01:14, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Vinyl

edit

Hi Jotamide, I wanted to get in touch with you regarding this article. I'd cleaned it up several months ago in response to an AfD that (rightly) criticized it for failing to demonstrate notability. I'd like to improve the article to the point where I'm satisfied that it's no longer a borderline case and I am glad to see your efforts there. Basically I'm wondering what you would think about the idea of expanding the article to include coverage of vinyl data storage for video games. For example there were a number of ZX Spectrum games released on vinyl (flexidisks mostly) and I know of at least one video game that was stored on Capacitance Electronic Discs (the whole game was stored there, mind you, so soundtrack as well as everything else). Sources for these releases will probably be difficult to track down. I have a good RS for the CED game, but the Speccy flexidisks may prove hard to verify. If this seems like a good idea to you then I'd be happy to work on expanding the article, but do you think it would need a new title then? It's true these games have soundtracks and so technically they are "video game soundtracks released on vinyl", but it's obviously stretching it a bit since it's really the game as vinyl data rather than the soundtrack alone. Any thoughts? -Thibbs (talk) 18:01, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

AGF and unsourced, trivial information

edit

Say Jotamide,

An edit summary like this one is not okay. "No reason to delete this article at all. Won't tag as WP:VD yet, but it edges on an infraction"? First, redirecting is not deletion. Second, the list is not informative, it's nothing more than mentioning which characters appear in which game. Nothing on creation, development or reception of the characters. Third, it is completely unsourced. Fourth, and most importantly, you should've assumed good faith. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 21:45, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Apologies if that came across as too harsh. I have had that article on my watchlist for a while to improve on it so for a second I had assumed that it was vandalized. But I agree, I should have assumed good faith. As for the article itself, I’ve posted on the discussion on why I think it shouldn’t be deleted yet. Jotamide (talk) 17:16, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jotamide, thanks for your reply. I've just finished an eight hour shift at work, I'll try to reply tomorrow. (I'm so beat I wasn't sure if eight is spelled eight or eigth). soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 01:59, 29 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jotamide, sorry for my late reply. I'm not convinced the list should stay. The references you've added mention the voice actor, but there's still nothing to go on, character-wise. I prefer a neatly trimmed section on the main article, instead of a stand-alone one which doesn't add anything informative. In my opinion, something like List of The Last of Us characters are the best examples where something like that is done right. Maybe there are some sources out there, but I think it's better to start out from the main article, and then maybe later expand to a separate character one. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 09:30, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Akumajō Dracula Best 2

edit

The article Akumajō Dracula Best 2 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable soundtrack. Does not meet WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Comparison of art websites moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Comparison of art websites, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Or feel free to ping me to take another look.Onel5969 TT me 13:23, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'll try my best but I work 12 hour shifts, 16 days a month and the original article already took several days from my days off to put together. Websites like Skeb, with 2.4 million registered users, were removed; yet ArtStation with a similar user base (3.4 million) was allowed to stay. Both rows had 3 references so I'm feeling unsure on how to proceed since the notability criteria seems to be arbitrarily enforced. Jotamide (talk) 13:47, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:30, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited GGPO, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Escapist. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 05:50, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Worked that ref in, thanks for the head's up! We definitely gotta be careful adding any more Valnet sourcing to that article though, I worry someone's going to try to ding it if we're not because of the stigma that company has with some editors... Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:37, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Glad you found it useful! Tbh I don't even know what Valnet is. All I know is that enwiki standards for articles are completely arbitrary these days so I feel it's a lot more worthwhile to contribute to Wikidata instead. Jotamide (talk) 01:35, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
