AfD nomination of In Fair Palestine
editI have nominated In Fair Palestine, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/In Fair Palestine. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Welcome
editHi jo! Welcome to Wikipedia! I took a look at In Fair Palestine and added a couple of English language sources I found. I also asked others in the deletion debate to explain why foreign language sources cannot be used to establish notability. I hope the article is indeed kept, but if it is deleted, we can always recreate it once we find more and better sources, something that is sure to happen once the film is more widely screened and distributed. I also wanted to say that it looks like a great project and that I hope to have a chance to see the film myself one day soon. Any plans for a screening in Nazareth? Would you like to have help in setting one up? Let me know if I can help with that or anything else. Samidoon. Tiamuttalk 18:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- One more thing ... do you have links to articles that were published in the Arab press on the film? I can look for some myself, but it would help me if you could pass whatever Arabic sources you have onto me as well. Tiamuttalk 18:33, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'll see what I can do about a Nazareth screening and get back to you. Can you email me? Tiamuttalk 21:24, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jo! I would also like to welcome you to wikipedia! Just one small note: we normally do not start different articles about the same subject, like In Fair Palestine.. and In Fair Palestine: a story of Romeo and Juliet (film) ...it is really to much to update ;-P So, what we do instead is to have one main article, and then possible have many alternative speelings/titles which just redirect to the main article, like: #REDIRECT [[In Fair Palestine]]. Which is what I have done to your article In Fair Palestine: a story of Romeo and Juliet (film). If you want to look at anything there (that isn´t in the In Fair Palestine article, then your last version is here. Ok, good luck to you, and hope to see you around, Regards, Huldra (talk) 06:36, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Jo! Thank you for your note. First a small issue: when you leave a message at any "talk"-page, you can easily sign you message by typing 4 "~", that is, like this:~~~~. This will then automatically translate into your username and a timestamp. It makes it so much easier to read. Also: it is customary to add new messages at the bottom of a talk-page. (I hope all these rules etc doesn´t frighten or intimidate you! ) Now to your question: I am not quite sure what you want: do you want both In Fair Palestine.. and In Fair Palestine: a story of Romeo and Juliet (film) deleted? Or do you want In Fair Palestine: a story of Romeo and Juliet (film) to be the "main" article, and In Fair Palestine to be just a redirect? If it is this last option, then anybody can do that easily; however, if it is actually deleting an article completely, then only an administrator can do that. Also, take a look at Wikipedia:SPEEDY for the criteria to remove a page. Take care, and good luck, Regards, Huldra (talk) 04:37, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
The article was kept, which means we can now work on developing it further. Thanks for starting it. Tiamuttalk 12:01, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Are you sure? It looks like the AfD is still open. Also, you've deleted the AfD tag. Please restore it or ask somebody at the AfD discussion to restore it for you. Thanks. HG | Talk 16:03, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oops. Looks like you're right HG. I saw Addhoc's comment in my watchlist and assumed he closed the debate, rather than voted. I didn't remove the deletion tag myself, but I have left a note on the deletion page about its disappearance (it wasn't removal, so much that the page has been redirected to a new title and the template wasn't placed in the new version). I don't know if I can append the tag myself, so I've asked for help. We'll see what happens. An admin should close soon anyway, given that it's been six days. Tiamuttalk 18:25, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh sorry i thought that the discussion was closed too, so i thought it was ok to redirect the page, i'll try to see if i can get the AfD tag back up.jo (talk) 20:02, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats on the AfD. Still, probably most important thing to add to article would be any coverage of the film by the press or other secondary sources. Take care, HG | Talk 16:45, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:08ipod fam.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:08ipod fam.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Safar: Youth Mobility Fund, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.on-the-move.org/DE/news_detail.lasso?show_me_news=2435. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Safar: Youth Mobility Fund
editA tag has been placed on Safar: Youth Mobility Fund requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copied from Talk:Safar: Youth Mobility Fund
editThe bot is wrong, because the website it found is actually a copy of Safar's website www.safarfund.org
- Which would also be a copyright violation. Copyright is taken very seriously on Wikipedia. I see no reason why an article can't be written without copying and pasting from other's work.--RadioFan (talk) 12:51, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm Safar's Head of IT, I'm in charge of the website. so its not a copyright infringement. Does Wikipedia need some sort of document that says its allowed to use parts of the website? anyway i'll rephrase it all now. jo (talk) 15:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:55, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
