Photos
editIt's unfortunate that your Met Life image wasn't supported more at Commons FPC. If I knew it were there, I would have voted in support. Your images on your userpage are excellent. If you want an FP, I'd suggest taking photos of things not already featured. Your tulips are great (depth of field is nice too), but tulips are so common that there's already featured images of them. But you have a great canvas to work from: NYC! There's always something to photograph there! Also, I'd start getting your edit count up on WP. Suggest you patrol Recent Changes and revert some vandalism (note: if you do revert vandalism, be sure to leave a warning on the user's talk page. There are many templates available here.). Best of luck. ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 19:10, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and if I may be so bold, I'd suggest getting quality photos of some of the listed places below. Remember, for FPC on Wikipedia, there has to be encyclopedic value (EV) so straight shots are typically the norm. I would suggest taking multiple images and stitching them together to get the highest resolution possible of a subject (again, if you don't have the software, I would be fine with stitching them for you). Here are some suggestions:
- United Nations Headquarters could use a good image. Something like this or this. Any image you take could be used in United Nations Secretariat Building as well.
- Time Warner Center
- Bank of America Tower (New York) to get the most up-to-date image of it.
- Staten Island Ferry: A better image to replace this
- Brooklyn Bridge: Believe it or not, we don't have a featured picture of the Brooklyn Bridge during the day. This looks like it's going to fail, so if you can get a good shot of it, you may get the FP nod. I'd suggest taking a photo similar to that current FPC, not like this. The angle is up to you though.
- Times Square: If you're really up to the challenge, Times Square could use a good image to replace this.
- You have a lot of potential here and NYC articles could really use you. Of course I would suggest waiting until spring or summer when the trees have leaves and flowers are in bloom to take these photos (winter is so dreary in NYC, so photos won't bode well at FPC). ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 19:41, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
