Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Death of Margaret Martin, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Sedan and Firebox. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A few weeks ago you said you could link to sources on Google Books--please add them. I gather there was a recent company name change, so please make sure they deal with the current company. DGG ( talk ) 00:13, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

My report of Username violation
Please understand that I did not know where to file my complaint against another user, but surely can you really get away with saying "don't f*ck with the wording?" I thought that Wikipedia despises swearing and other profanities, with the exception of the Human body (and reproduction). Is swearing in an edit summary really permitted on here? --Kő Cloch (talk) 16:53, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, it is permitted, as long as it's not directed at a specific editor. It's not encouraged, but Wikipedia does not "despise" profanity. Either way, UAA would be the wrong board to report it to. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 15:59, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

sir, i want to create a page similar to the previously deleted page Viral Bug Piktures — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dhirendra kr. Yadav (talk • contribs)
- Viral Bug Piktures has apparently formed two weeks ago and the only available reference is its own YouTube page. At this time, that is not sufficient for an article, though someone may create one when and if credible third-party sources discuss it. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 23:23, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Furnace Run (Shamokin Creek)
I think you should be using the publication page number, not the page of the PDF within the overall link. You might wish to fix all other instances of this. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:47, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Quick question, have you done all your GAs, DYKs etc with this page numbering method? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:15, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I have been using that page numbering system ever since I started citing page numbers. I believe it's easier to simply type in the relevant page number instead of scrolling through dozens of pages to find the right one (and I'm not sure all PDFs even have manually numbered pages). --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 01:40, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi
Hi, you have stricken "nominator's rationale" on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahmed Mohamed (student) stating that "!vote of sock is stricken". But it is not "!vote" but it is "Nominator's rationale".--Human3015TALK 05:40, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- The exact wording is irrelevant. The point is that the opinions of sockpuppets are discounted. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 10:19, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi again, I noticed that you edited article Tourism on the Moon [1]. Thank you for your edit. I want to ask you one question because you are an admin and you know things better than me. I have created that article Tourism on the Moon and I wanted to nominate it for DYK but somehow 7 days are gone and that article is no more a recently created article. Can I nominate it for DYK now? I think this article is really special and it is very futuristic article and deserves place in DYK but because of some reason I could not able to nominate it for DYK within due time, can I nominate it now? I can't expand it 5 fold now.--Human3015TALK 13:47, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it cannot be nominated until it becomes a Good Article. In my opinion, it's unlikely there will be enough to say on the topic to reach Good Article status until tourists have actually visited the moon. But I could be wrong. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 00:57, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

- The nomination already looked confusingly like a !vote - an editor authoritatively striking it out as a "vote" only reinforces the odd illusion that the AfD was somehow raised by nobody. --McGeddon (talk) 19:11, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your reminder about Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of tributaries of Shamokin Creek/archive1. I have been a little busy of late. Can I just comment that edit summaries of "sigh" and "for gods sake" when responding to the comments made by reviewers is unlikely to make them think that their contributions are valued or motivate them to return. Editing comments
Hi Jakob. Please don't refactor other editors' comments like this. I was really confused when I saw that my comment had changed and considered initially that it may have been vandalism. - @Mz7: I am so sorry; I never intended to do that. Firefox hasn't been working on my computer lately, so I have been using Chrome, where I had installed this extension for personal amusement. Hi
Hi - this discussion about me appears to have advanced to the point of nominating me for a TBAN before I heard I was being discussed. I provided a semi Wall of Text defense but, as I noted, it's just not a very interesting topic for me. The main editor involved basically has a standing monthly complaint they file against me and I'm usually totally cool to participate but now is not the most ideal time, plus, at Prhartcom's wise counsel I'm trying to just ignore them to see if they move onto someone else. At the same time, it appears I risk being pitchforked into a TBAN if I abandon this debate (which, frankly, is my intention).
Anyway, as you appear to be the only admin active there, I'd like to request - if it's not too much trouble - you drop me a line prior to blocking/banning me so I can have a chance to rebut without having to camp-out to do a point-by-point defense over the next week? These usually drag on for pages and I just don't have the bandwidth this week to indulge. Any other week I'd be cool to do it, but this week is kind-of a nightmare. Thanks, in advance - LavaBaron (talk) 09:38, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- @LavaBaron: It doesn't seem like you're going to be topic banned yet – they would have to go to AN for that, and whoever would file the request would be required to notify you. Though for the record, I do think it's rather silly to painstakingly spell out the whole book of criteria (as I pointed out once). --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 13:34, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
