- Good point. Another user wanted to try to delete my user page, but mighty Cerejota came to the rescue. But if you really want to look at something crazy take a look at our apparently departed fellow editors page, and its history: [1], though I think he goes to far with some of the language and I could see somebody being insulted, even deeply offended, by it. In all seriousness though, those 2 quotes I took from Tiamut's talk page and those are perhaps the two sickest quotes I have ever seen. There are others that I like, a couple from Gideon Levy, a few from Uri Avnery, but those 2 pretty much sum up what I think about the proclamations about such and such group is a terrorist organization, that this is self-defense. I think I can let my actual feelings come through somewhere, and honestly that is kind of watered down as opposed to what I could write, or if somebody really makes me remove my personal commentary what I would fill up with favorite quotes from others (as is specifically allowed in the user page policy). I dont know how the politicians in Canada reacted to the initial airstrikes, but for a sample of American reactions, take a look from this clip from my news source of choice: reactions of various politicians at the end. And that is all sides of the so called political spectrum. Thats what pisses me off more than anything, I cant even vote for anybody who agrees with me on what is the most important issue in this world to me, I am forced to either vote for Ralph Nader, which is honestly equivalent to not voting, or voting for somebody who disagrees with me on this. I am willing to wait and see with Obama, but I almost started crying during the VP debate last year when Palin and Biden actually argued about which of them loves Israel more. It is the one issue here where there is no real discussion or debate on what should America be doing, the idea that such a policy is to the benefit of the American people goes unchallenged. The idea that the world would be safer if there was an actual peace deal there where basic fundamental human rights, as outlined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, are respected is never raised. That America and the rest of the Western world would be safer with a just solution applied to this conflict. I dont know if you agree or disagree with me, and I hope I havent written anything that bothers you too much, but I just read one editor again describing AI as a partisan group, and needed to rant for a bit. Feel free to delete this post as the rantings of a pothead a lil too frustrated with the world around him and a lil to high to really care about wikipedia to actually contribute, at least for a lil bit. Thanks a lot! There have been a few people who are kind of creepy, so by friendly that's wat I meant. Of course, one of them was just my classmate being funny...I am so going to get him for that. By the way, hard work pays off tomorrow, being lazy pays off now! I'm totally with you on that! <(^_^)> Pokegeek42 (talk) 21:45, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't I know it. My dad has that on his office door where he works, only it's a little different. Message still gets across, though. I only wish my science teacher thought that way... <(^_^)> Pokegeek42 (talk) 22:13, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

- You may not have heard, but Africa is capable of receiving satellite transmissions. It takes some work to make a dish out of the remnants left by our colonial masters, but once that is done we are good. That last game against Detroit was pretty disappointing, once the steal happened and it was 3 on 1 knew it was over. But still, fuck detroit. Nableezy (talk) 19:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Conference loyalty means nothing when we talk about Detroit, it remains fuck Detroit. Was an entertaining series except for game 4, we had a ton of chances last night but couldnt make them into anything. But still, I knew we werent going to beat Detroit, they play at such a higher level. If they werent from Detroit I would actually enjoy watching them play, but I cant. Offer to Stellarkid
editI offered to work with this editor on an article he suggested about denials by Israel eg of using White Phosphorus. Is there a problem cooperating across dividing lines like this? I thought his idea was quite good. If there's a pattern to this behaviour (as there is for Palestinians, see Pallywood) it would surely be quite useful. Also, I've finally decided to register an account. But I'd really like to choose a mentor from amongst people I'd not normally agree with. Would you be willing? Sandstein/Nableezy
edit- Hi JGGardiner. I would like to work on two things regarding what has happened to Nableezy. One is to file an appeal of Sandstein's decision which I will begin in my user space shortly. The second, concurrent to this, would be opening a User RfC on Sandstein regading his abuse of his admin powers. I have asked Gatoclass for some advice on how to proceed. I hope he responds soon. When I have drafts up in my user space, I will be contacting you for feedback. I hope you will co-sign both the appeal and the User RfC. Also, check out Nableezy's talk page to see what has happened most recently and why these steps are absolutely necessary. Thanks. Tiamuttalk 19:57, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding JGGardiner. I found your comments were helpful, coming as they were from someone who only dabbles in I-P editing, and who has forged many a compromise on the contested article Gaza War. I'm glad Nableey filed his own appeal in the end. Looking forward to his coming back soon, and to seeing you two banter away on how to improve that article even further. Happy new year by the way. Tiamuttalk 17:14, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

editI don't follow what you mean. There is a town a couple hours from here called Wenatchee. Was their local paper used as a source?Cptnono (talk) 09:33, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh I see, tiny town doctor not Omaha. Omaha is massive compared to Omak. And Wenatchee isn't exactly known for its journalism. Apples! If you ever plan a trip to the Evergreen State, Wenatchee is within an hour or so from wine country, a faux Bavarian village, and where they filmed Northern Exposure. Man it is far out there. Cptnono (talk) 10:19, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't realize you were so close. I have fuzzy memories of doing something with my parents in Levenworth. If it is something you are into, Zillah, Washington has some decent and inexpensive wine tasting every April that is worth checking out.
- A guy from Omak getting 1 third of the article is pretty interesting. Shame the link is dead since it totally peaked my curiosity.Cptnono (talk) 21:49, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for bringing your level-headed and policy-compliant approach to the discussion. The push by some editors to remove "Gaza Massacre" is understandable, but the source explicitly says this is how the event was known in the Arab World. By the way, one of those editors is now also trying to change Deir Yassin Massacre to "Deir Yassin Controversy."Talk:Deir_Yassin_massacre#Article.27s_title. Maybe you could have a look, this could be seen as editing with an agenda, no? Respectfully, RomaC (talk) 00:50, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

- Rant-wise, Talk:Rothschild_family#A_steaming_pile was a good effort too. Sean.hoyland - talk 07:23, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
- That was more ranty than you know. It started out as a longer piece which included a link to the Onion headline "Drugs win Drugs War".[4] We've done so many things wrong with that article that I was a bit upset to see that criticism for the one thing we did right. Although I have to say that even before I started writing I realized it wasn't that different than what Nableezy said about the "massacre" term, if it were named "vasjdnvfbud" instead. It is kind of ironic that the actual article title doesn't require a source as strictly as alternate names do. I'm not saying they should though. But it is a bit ironic, huh? I suppose if I was working on a different language Wikipedia I'm not sure if I could say that "Gaza War" is the English name for the conflict. Oh well, c'est la guerre. --JGGardiner (talk) 09:37, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Monarchy of Canada
editIt's a bit of a coincidence that you mentioned that. It wasn't until very recently, having stumbled upon a typically lame and amusingly passionate wiki bar fight over some opinion polls, that I realised that this is a contentious issue in Canada. It may even have been at that article or a related noticeboard posting, I forget. Sean.hoyland - talk 08:33, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- this is "DEFINATLY" going on my 'Favourite talk page etc comments' wall of fame so thanks for that.
- The guy is apparently living in a fantasy version of an un-Americanized UK I don't recognise. According to this the UK is McDonalds best performing major market and they get about a billion visits so that's a lot of 'do you want fries with that?'
- The article I was thinking of was Debate on the monarchy in Canada, the 'Quotation marks around "British monarchy"?' debate on the talk page. Like most Canadians I can't get excited about republicanism when it's about the British/Canadian/Commonwealth monarchy. If you are going to have a monarchy it's a pretty harmless one to pick.

Petey, the real McCaw?
editI didn't find the Jew Watch thing when I googled him. (Though I have little doubt he might frequent the site) Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie Say Shalom! 18:18, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I only looked him up on Wikipedia. He massacred fellow Jews as well! (which, though it will sound wrong, is treated as being slightly more evil than just being a murderer, it goes against the whole concept of Jewish community and brotherhood) It's weird how some people invoke one person to justify hatred of an entire people. Hell, I hate Hitler, but I love Germans (mostly the Western ones as they are funnier). His edits as of last night appear to be linked with some of the more... fringe sites? He put something about George Soros being linked to a Nazi or something, and some of his other edits have been interesting (like the part about accusations of Sarkozy's wife being a whore). He seems a bit misguided imo.
- Are there others like Kaganovich? Prime example or only example? =p He's the only actual murderous Jew I've heard of, though I'll bet there are others who have disgraced our people with similar actions. Yah I got that it was an unwarranted anti-semetic attack (maybe he thought I was calling him Swinedaffi?), but I've learned to not be offended by such things, and instead either act silly about it or (in some cases) take it one step further, both of which are surprisingly effective. Ha, ummm, actually it wasn't really a good natured reply, I was being somewhat sarcastic and at the same time communicating to him: "you do know that sort of thing is srs bsns here, right?" But if you mean I wasn't like "F U Nazi!" or something like that (reacting in such a way feeds a troll his lulz), well I only care when someone says it to my face, then I can deal with them properly. ;)
- He does seem like a fun fellow for light trolling though (used to be one of my favourite internet pastimes) when he steps out of line, though it should only ever be well within the limits of the rules of course, and not disruptive to the process of editing. =) Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie Say Shalom! 21:57, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

I know you are kidding here, at least I think I know, but an uninvolved admin when closing the discussion may not, and may make a certain assumption as to your view on the actual matter up for discussion. Your thoughts
editYour thoughts were so dang clever that they made my hair hurt. Me and my pal Randy are so going to start an article showing how the Goose barnacle is the chrysalis of the Barnacle Goose. Will you promise to support it for featured article status? – OhioStandard (talk) 00:26, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

- (I copied your post to my talk, here, to just above.) Glad my lights were of service. I'm sure you do have a top-drawer, absolute corker of an idea. If it's better than I expect, as I expect it will be, there might be a barnacle star in it for you! (Cue sound of wolves or dogs howling in background, plaintively, in evident distress.) Vancouver
editThat is a very important foundation story, and one the city can be proud of, more proud than Romans who go back to two brats sucking milk from a wolf's teats (it determined the following 2,700 years of Italian politics). In fact most people I know (that's, uh, a handful) who've been there say it is one of the most civilized places on earth, just as San Francisco is the only civilized place in the US.
