editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Om Puri, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

The Lockdown Sessions (Elton John album) moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, The Lockdown Sessions (Elton John album), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. MfD nomination of Draft:The Lockdown Sessions (Elton John album)

Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:The Lockdown Sessions (Elton John album) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:The Lockdown Sessions (Elton John album) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. editHello, I'm Meters. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Bono seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Meters (talk) 23:57, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
Your edit to James "J.T." Taylor has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to World Trade Center (1973-2001), even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. Please read WP:OVERLINK, there was no need for your linking, as subject was already linked earlier. Thank you. David J Johnson (talk) 12:16, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Matt Hancock, appears to have been inappropriate, and has been reverted. Please feel free to use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The phrase was in inverted commas, indicating that it was a quote. Did you read the reference? David Biddulph (talk) 10:28, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know. I won't alter quotes in future edits. --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 10:44, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
Copying within Wikipedia
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Steve Irwin into Death of Steve Irwin. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 12:56, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- I'm rewording the death article to be completely different from the previous revisions on Steve Irwin. Hope this helps! --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 13:11, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, that's great, just be sure to add that edit-summary attribution in the future even if you copy a little bit from other articles. Thanks for your work on the article! DanCherek (talk) 14:35, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Alright I'll be sure to add that in the future! And thank you for the kind words on my edits on that article! --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 14:38, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

signature songs
editHi! You seem to be adding an awful lot of signature song categories without providing any source. I'm going to revert until supplied. If you're looking for sources, List_of_signature_songs is a good place to start. Doctorhawkes (talk) 10:09, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Most of the articles I'm adding already have sources. You can remove the ones without sources tho. --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 10:10, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Important Notice
editThis is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

October 2021
editHello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Tkbrett (✉) 00:59, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- This explains a lot! I have to agree, not using an edit summary is something I have made a bad habit of. But not to worry! I shall start using them for every edit I make on here from this moment forward. Hopefully this solves the issue. Thank you for pointing this out! --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 01:01, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (third request)
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Abbey Road into Abbey Road: 50th Anniversary Edition.

2008 Universal fire deletions
editI (and another editor) have reverted your indiscriminate mass deletions of this longstanding and well-sourced content. The rationale stated in your edit summaries indicates that you believe that different Wikipedia articles must never contain sentences that read largely the same, but there is no such policy. If the fact is relevant to the article subject (as in the case of a major loss of an artist's recorded material) and reported in reliable sources, then it is fine to cover it even if an article about a different artist also mentions a similar fact. Regards, HaeB (talk) 22:23, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- PS: Maybe there is a confusion with the fact that one should not copypaste text authored by other editors from one article to another without attribution. But that's not the case here, rather, it looks like these sentences had all been added by the same author (who as copyright owner of this short text has of course the right to post it in several locations in different variants). Regards, HaeB (talk) 22:30, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification on this. Apology for the deletions. --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 23:35, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Talk page editing
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:COVID-19 pandemic, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Art LaPella (talk) 06:09, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.
It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Speedy deletion nomination of File:James "J.T." Taylor.jpg
editA tag has been placed on File:James "J.T." Taylor.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please add the appropriate fair use tag and rationale.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:21, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:James "J.T." Taylor.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:James "J.T." Taylor.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:22, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Internet memes category
editHey! I saw your removal of this category on Among Us because of WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS and I agree. In fact, really that category would only be fitting on the article of a video game if the game itself has become a meme (so maybe Fortnite? Can't think of any examples right now) or is a meme. It would be more appropriate if it were a category like "Video games that created memes" or something, but how it is currently, it doesn't work with video game articles that have created memes. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:27, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the positive feedback! I agree that Fortnite is the only game I can think of that has become a meme, and thus would work in an Internet memes subcategory. Others (such as Among Us and Fall Guys) did inspire memes but that doesn't make the games themselves a meme, so they don't belong in the category. I wasn't on Wikipedia when those internet subcategories were made, but I'm sure they were created to document actual memes instead of media (such as video games) that just inspired memes. --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 20:53, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

. — Diannaa (talk) 09:33, 27 January 2022 (UTC)I have blocked your account, because in spite of repeated warnings including a final warning, you continued to add copyright material to Wikipedia in violation of our copyright policy. You cannot resume editing until you provide a statement describing how copyright applies to Wikipedia, show that you understand our copyright policy, and make a commitment to follow it in the future.— Diannaa (talk) 09:34, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:
I sincerely apologise for the continued violation of copyrighted material. During the last few days I have looked at Wikipedia's copyright policy and now understand it, and know why copyright is taken so seriously - the two main reasons being copyright infringement can lead to legal issues and is usually done without permission. Please consider allowing me to resume editing, as there is a lot I want to contribute to Wikipedia that will not violate copyright. I've made over two thousand edits and several pages (the majority of which have not violated copyright) and it would be a shame to stop now over silly copyright mistakes which will not happen again, as I now understand how copyright works here. You have my word that, from this moment onward, I will follow Wikipedia's copyright policy in the future. InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 01:03, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Your answers to the questions posed by Diannaa are only partially correct. PhilKnight (talk) 19:07, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. Please respond to the following questions, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked.— Diannaa (talk) 03:30, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Below are my answers to these questions.
- "What is copyright?" - Copyright refers to the legal right of a creator to prevent their work from being copied without their permission.
- "How is Wikipedia licensed?" - Wikipedia is licensed under the Creative Commons license.
- "Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?" - To avoid plagiarism, and potential legal issues that could have the potential to seriously damage Wikipedia.
- "Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?" - Wikipedia can only use copyrighted content if permission is given beforehand by the owner of the copyrighted content in question.
- "How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?" - By using my own words instead of copying from elsewhere, therefore preventing copyright infringement. For example, I will write summaries for the documentaries Obama: In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union and Phil Lynott: Songs for While I'm Away that use my own words instead of being copied from other non-Wikipedia sources (such as HBO and The Hollywood Reporter).
I hope these answers are acceptable. After doing research over the last few days, I now understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. Because of this, I promise to only edit using my own words from now on. --InPursuitOfAMorePerfectUnion (talk) 04:11, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Your answer to "Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?" is wrong. Your answer to "How is Wikipedia licensed?" is partially correct. PhilKnight (talk) 19:05, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
