Freefoto.com images

edit

Thanks for uploading the Acela images; unfortunately their license does not seem to allow for use on Wikipedia, and even if it was OK under the noncommercial area, that type of license is not being used here due to the inability to transfer to other projects that may come out of WP. If you can find any Acela photos on http://www.trainweb.com/ , those are OK (tag the images with {{trainweb}}).

Hello Great Scott,

I just spoke with Mr. Wool at Wikipedia.

Since I am pretty much clueless about the Internet and Wikipedia, he helped me walk through the process to get to this point.

I am a newspaper columnist. I interviewed Bill Scranton a few days ago. When I read the paragraph pasted below to him, he denied that he supported Dr. Hagelin in 2000.

May I ask where you found that information? I have no idea if Mr. Scranton is being straightforward or not. Any help you could offer would be most appreciated.

Mr. Wool suggested that I spell my e-mail address instead of writing it the normal way.

If you would respond, please send the information to dvassilaros at tribweb dot com

Or if you wish, you could reach me at 412-380-5637. I am in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Or if you wish I would be happy to call you.

Thank you. Dimitri Vassilaros

"Scranton supported John Hagelin, the Natural Law Party candidate and fellow transcendental meditation practitioner, in the 1992 and 2000 presidential elections, but supported President George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential campaign."

Sources for Isaac Ellmaker Hiester

edit

Hello, some time ago you added a fair bit of content to Isaac Ellmaker Hiester. As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's verifiability and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to create them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other sources you used to add content to Isaac Ellmaker Hiester? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? See WP:CITET for some quick templates to use for citing sources. Thanks! --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 22:08, 9 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Flemish_cap.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 10:12, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Schweiker.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Oak Hill photograph

edit

Hi Great Scott -- Nice job creating Oak Hill (plantation) back in 2004. I and others are just now developing List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia, reviewing all articles on NHLs in VA such as this one, and will be adding more info to the article, in particular adding NRHP / NHL info and related sources. However, a photograph you uploaded back in 2004, Image:OakHillfront.jpg  , appears to be not in compliance with copyright policy. Although the photo appears on a National Park Service website, it is credited to another entity and is not in the public domain, per the NPS copyright policy statement. See Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#some but not all National Park Service photos are public domain for some more information including link to the NPS copyright policy. I wonder if you would agree now that the photo should be deleted and request its deletion yourself. We are pretty successful about obtaining new photographs of historic places, so I imagine that a temporary gap in illustration of this nice article will be filled in a relatively short time. doncram (talk) 15:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:EnterpriseTripoli.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:EnterpriseTripoli.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
