List of rifle cartridges

edit

Hello, without a link to a WP:Verifiably sourced article, cartridges are not included on the List of rifle cartridges page. Cavalryman V31 (talk) 22:57, 13 February 2019 (UTC).Reply

Hi Cavalryman V31. FYI, yesterday, IMMEDIATELY after editing the list of rifle cartridges to insert the .350 Legend in the appropriate spot, I clicked on it, and then spent hours creating exactly what you just said -- yesterday I created a VERIFIABLY SOURCED article (a new Wikipedia entry) about the .350 Legend, with multiple sources including references to SAAAMI diagrams, all referenced correctly! As you know, new Wikipedia entries like the one I created yesterday stay in "draft" (or pending) status for up to six weeks. If you had clicked on the new entry for .350 Legend, you should have seen that there was a new (verifiably sourced) article published in "draft" status that is pending review. Instead, you deleted the cartridge from the list of rifle cartridges, forcing me to undelete it today, but then later today, you apparently deleted it a second time. Please undelete the .350 Legend from the list of rifle cartridges, so that as soon as my new Wikipedia engtry for it (which again, is verifiably sourced) is approved, it will automatically link to the article. Or if I did things in the wrong order, I apologize, but I thought the first step (immmediately before adding a new article for a cartridge) would be to add the cartridge to the correct spot in its parent menu, the list of rifle cartridges. Thank you. P.S.: I'm also a Cavalry veteran, an Armor officer who served in an Armored Cavalry unit in the U.S. Army: Alpha Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd ATB (AL). -Gato63

Gato63, welcome to Wikipedia, it’s always a pleasure meeting a fellow soldier on here and you are the first fellow Armoured officer I have met. It would be better for you to wait for the page to be approved then add it to the list. Kind regards, Cavalryman V31 (talk) 12:34, 14 February 2019 (UTC).Reply

Draft:.350 Legend

edit

Hello Gato63, I have had a look at Draft:.350 Legend, I have made a few tweaks and added another reference which should see the draft accepted easily, please have a look and let me know if you think they are alright. Additionally, I have added two Navboxes to the draft, if accepted it should be added to both List of rifle cartridges and both Navboxes. Kind regards, Cavalryman V31 (talk) 00:23, 15 February 2019 (UTC).Reply

Okay, thanks, but I don't think your information about a parent cartridge is correct. I have seen some articles and blogs about the .350 Legend claim that its parent cartridge is the .223 Remington, but other articles that say this is not true. Winchester itself says that the .350 Legend has no parent cartridge. Winchester's FAQ on https://winchester.com/350-legend/faq says, "What is the 350 Legend parent case? 350 Legend has no parent case. However, 350 Legend uses the same .378 nominal rim diameter as 223 Rem. The 350 Legend shellcase is a new design that maximizes terminal performance while optimizing the ability to extract from a variety of firearms."

Hello again, I have amended the reference to the parent case. Kind regards, Cavalryman V31 (talk) 21:24, 15 February 2019 (UTC).Reply

Hi Cavalryman, Our article on .350 Legend was rejected by Wikipedia with the reason "This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia" (see the note they left on this page). Of course I disagree, as I think the .350 Legend is at least the hottest new caliber since 6.5 Creedmoor, but since it's had even more advance buzz and enthusiasm than 6.5 Creedmoor, it may even surpass the 6.5 Creedmoor to be the hottest new caliber of this century! There are already rifles, barrels, and uppers in .350 Legend available from CMMG, Winchester, Match Grade Machines, etc. Was I just too early in creating the article, considering .350 Legend ammo won't be available until April (even though you can pre-order it now at MidwayUSA)? By the way, someone already added .350 Legend to the Wikipedia article List of AR platform calibers, so I'm sure someone else will create an article for .350 Legend, but it sure seems a waste if they start from scratch and disregard our research on .350 Legend.
