Fair use rationale for Image:GenericDocumentIcon.png

Thanks for uploading Image:GenericDocumentIcon.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 09:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Famelix Logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Famelix Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:08, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Sockpuppet

hello atyndall, I have a sus. of you sock puppeting the "mcdiarmidc" accounts. As You seem to be fixing all the problems.

Please see Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Mcdiarmidc for evidence disproving your claims and pointing out that YOU are indeed one of his sockpuppets.  Atyndall93 | talk  11:01, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Checkuser request / question

Hi there. I'm the checkuser who's currently processing your RFCU request. One quick question; how could you have replied to this person "in an email" when they do not have an email address enabled, nor have they specified it? - Alison 19:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I actually physically know the person in real life. I can give you more details on this if there is somewhere private to communicate.  Atyndall93 | talk  23:03, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
That's what I thought, yes. Do you know any of these other accounts personally, by any chance? - Alison 23:29, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I am familiar with WikiHero81, Bobonoob, Mcdiarmidc93, Mcdiarmidc. But I have never heard of the others. You see, I suggested that this user contribute to Wikipedia, which they started to do learn on Mcdiarmidc (in the sandbox). Then later on, while in the company on another friend, Mcdiarmidc discovered the concept of vandalism. Then boom, lots of socks and lots of vandalism. I managed to convince the user to go back to contributing normally, under camcd93 (Just clarifying, I didn't suggest using another account).  Atyndall93 | talk  23:41, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

HI again. Unfortunately, there's been far too much sock-puppetry and disruption from your shared IP. Furthermore, there's evidence of off-wiki collusion, etc. I've blocked a number of vandal accounts now and have had to hardblock your shared IP range for a month to minimize the amount of timewasting and vandalism. I've also blocked a number of domestic IP addresses. I'm really sorry about all this, but i've little option here. Your shared IP had already been softblocked for a year due to prior disruption and when the hardblock expires, I'll likely re-instate the year's softblock. You should be fine to edit from your home ISP but I'm afraid your friends have messed things up for everyone else - Alison 04:06, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

h, and I've semi-protected your userpage too, as your pals had been hitting that, too - Alison 04:08, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Is it possible to get an exenption from this? (the hardblock that is, I have read somewhere about this being possible)  Atyndall93 | talk  04:09, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Question?

How do users get their names to be coloured in their signatures? or is that an Admin privelege? Also, can you ask alison if there is a way for myself and you to be exempt from the hardblock? Cheers! ACM2 (talk) 23:42, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

For the signature, this is what a colour signature looks like in code form [[User:ACM2|<font color="#COLOUR">ACM2</font>]] ([[User talk:ACM2|<font color="#COLOUR">talk</font>]]). Replace COLOUR with a color from fireworks etc. And I don't think that you have amassed enough contributions to be exempt.  Atyndall93 | talk  23:47, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the userpage cleanup

Finding articles about Autumn Ashante

I just wanted to follow up on your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Autum Ashante. You may be able to obtain access to the GaleNet archive of newspaper articles free of charge through your local public library or through your school's library by entering your library card number. The articles from the New York Amsterdam News that I cited were accessed that way. If you can get access to databases this way, then you will be able to find and confirm more references for Wikipedia articles than if you rely solely on Google News. --Eastmain (talk) 16:59, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, not all user's live in countries which libraries can access such information, and as such, would find it hard to verify the content of such references.  Atyndall93 | talk  11:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject on closed proxies

Hi, I'm interested but unsure how to help. Can you provide me with more info? (Personally I experienced Wikipedia-blackout due to the Great Firewall of China while on vacation) OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

If you can provide a Apache internet server, dedicated to the task, that would be much welcome, but a better idea would to add your name to the WP:WOCP members list and spread the word to users you see complaining about being blocked from Tor or finding it hard to editing Wikipedia due to government blocks. Your help would be much appreciated.  Atyndall93 | talk  10:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Do I have to keep the server running 24/7? And I don't think my upload/download speed and spec are fast enough. My maximum upload speed is 800kb/s and upload is 5Mb/s (plus I have to use the computer for various activities such as Word and PowerPoint). My computer is a crappy Pentium 3 with 512Mb ram. OhanaUnitedTalk page 23:01, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
If you were going to run a server, 24/7 is essential as people may start to use it at any time, but by the specs of your computer, it would be extremely slow. It doesn't matter, our currently two servers can hold about 20-40 users each and neither are being used of yet. Spreading the word would be a good path for you right now, I am trying to think of other jobs people without server can perform, but for now, I think just telling relevant people would be helpful.  Atyndall93 | talk  23:30, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Another question: Is this list correct? OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but the second server should be on that list sometime in the next 24 hours, error permitting.  Atyndall93 | talk  09:28, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Oldworldboot.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Re:BootX

I saw it on GAN, I am considering reviewing it later on. Take a look at WP:MOS, WP:CITE and User:Tony1/How_to_satisfy_Criterion_1a for future reference on how to meet the main Wikipedia policies when it comes to writing articles. Thanks — Wackymacs (talk ~ edits) 08:18, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh nevermind, I saw someone has already reviewed it! — Wackymacs (talk ~ edits) 08:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
It's actually being reviewed by another editor as I type.  Atyndall93 | talk  08:22, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Good work. However, please keep in mind not to link so much. Once a term has been linked, don't link to it again. In some instances, OpenFirmware was linked 3 times in one paragraph. (I have made the necessary changes to reduce the over-linking). — Wackymacs (talk ~ edits) 07:48, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I'll keep that in mind.  Atyndall93 | talk  07:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:George 'Fowokan' Kelly

Removed your notability warning. Kelly's work is well known and highly respected among the African-Caribbean arts community in Britain. He is not a big self-publicist, but despite that, he has received numerous public commissions over the years and his work has been exhibited in the British Museum and the Royal Academy of Art, amongst other many other venues. Despite his reticent nature, Google records over 400 references to his name - which, in my view, is notable. That this self-taught, former postman continues to practice and be exhibited well into his 70s also seems noteworthy. Admittedly, Kelly is not exactly a 'Pokemon' character in terms of global fame and cultural significance, but as a serious visual-arts practitioner from Britain's Jamaican community, he certainly deserves a mention. Hope this allays your fears. Mekatoid (talk) 13:07, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it does, I'm happy for you to keep the article.  Atyndall93 | talk  00:16, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Mediation is not arbitration

As I've made clear, I don't have time for SeeYou. Please note you're acting as an arbitrator rather than a mediator. If you've decided to take a more active role than just mediating the situaion, I think you should excuse yourself from mediating this case. Either way, I think you have been and can continue to be very helpful in this long-drawn-out pov dispute. --Ronz (talk) 20:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

This is saddening, I had hoped you would have been able to put aside your differences for this one instance to just comprimise on this issue so that both yourself and User:Seeyou can get back to editing at your full capicity. I do not think that I am acting as an arbitrator rather than a mediator because I am only trying to foster communication between both parties and act as a proxy between yourself and User:Seeyou as you do not wish to talk directly to the user in question and trying to get you to comprimise on ideas. I am not trying to impose sanctions as an arbitrator would, but trying to get you both to accept a comprimise on the issue. I am afraid that the MedCab case will not be closed per se but remain open with a "Deadlocked" status until the dispute is solved. Please just put aside your differences to just reach consensus on this issue, if you cannot agree with any of the suggested headings please provide a good reason as to why (policy is not a reason, as explained in detail on your talk page). Thankyou very much.  Atyndall93 | talk  00:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Excuse me. Are you even bothering to read what I've written? I'm too busy! Do you understand that? --Ronz (talk) 01:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I did read that, but I interpreted I don't have time for SeeYou not as I am literally too busy but I find his actions to be annoying and I am not willing to spend any time talking to such an annoying person.  Atyndall93 | talk  01:18, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I presume that means you might talk to him at a less busy date?  Atyndall93 | talk  01:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Admiration

I've been following some of your edits recently, and I think you are a tremendous mediator, extremely patient with some of the stubbornest editors and notorious POV-pushers around. I've been editing a Chiropractic for some time now and thing have been very heated there lately with the article getting locked three of four times in the past few months. I think we are about due for mediation. I want to take some time off and cool down for a bit, but when I return, is there a way to request you to be our formal mediator? -- Levine2112 discuss 01:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou for your comments, they are very kind. I am completly willing to mediate the disputed happening at Chiropractic if you wish me to (it looks like its going to need mediation which the protection expires tomorrow). If you wish for me to become your cases formal mediator have a look at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal#How to list a MedCab request, list the request in the way that it asks, but when it comes to save the document, change the "status = new" to "status = open" and "mediator =" to "mediator = {{User|Atyndall}}".  Atyndall93 | talk  01:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks. I will certainly look into doing this when I return to Wiki. Again, all of the contentiousness there has me a bit frustrated and I feel that I need a cool-down period of a week or so. -- Levine2112 discuss 01:41, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Bates method

Hello. As you may have noticed, I am a regular editor at Bates method, thus far uninvolved in the case you are mediating, but I have had my disagreements with both Ronz and Seeyou regarding the actual article. I just edited your Sandbox to qualify the talk headings and attach Seeyou's name, since s/he is the one creating the sections, and Famousdog and Ronz would probably disagree that the sections actually consist of "objective information & facts". I hope I wasn't intruding, but I figured it was OK since you invited Seeyou to edit it, and I think this is the kind of solution which might be acceptable to all.

I don't know if you have read any of the actual Bates method article, however, the top has been heavily tagged (by Ronz) since early March, as discussed here. If at some point you have time to review the article and determine whether the tags should now be removed, that would be helpful. PSWG1920 (talk) 02:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Your first point: I see the reasoning in your statement about the talk page headings but I was unsure if Seeyou would be willing for that headings to be branded with his name, feel free to put "Seeyou's" back where it was and I will ask him if he thinks that kind of heading is acceptable, if he doesn't think that, then the "Seeyou's" part will probably have to be removed. It was alright of you to intrude as it really does not have any affect on the sandboxed example as I have been giving Seeyou actual diffs and not links to the page (so nothing has changed).
Your second point: When I have time (I'll probably review in about 3-5 hours) I will determine if these issues still remain.
Thankyou for bringing this to my attention.  Atyndall93 | talk  02:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
