Speedy deletion nomination of Open Access in France
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Open Access in France requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.unesco.org/new/en/communication-and-information/portals-and-platforms/goap/access-by-region/europe-and-north-america/france/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Adem20talk 09:45, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Open Access in Benin for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

editWelcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Open Access in France, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. AusLondonder (talk) 16:32, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Filippo! I have removed the tag again as an independent reviewer, as I note the GOAP does indeed publish under a compatible free license. As you mentioned that you are affiliated with this portal, can you see about adding the CC license to all pages under the GOAP? Right now the only copyright notice that appears is Unsesco's default page footer which asserts copyright over all content, so is understandably causing confusion among our reviewers here. If the CC license can be added to all GOAP content, or the default Unseco copyright page can be modified to mention this, that will prevent a lot of ongoing problems as you import that content here.
- Please let me know if I can be of further assistance or answer any questions, thanks! CrowCaw 16:45, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

editThanks for creating Open Access in Yemen, Filippo Morsiani!
Wikipedia editor Elliot321 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
In the future, please make sure all of your page content is written in prose, instead of a list. Also, open access is lower case, so please do not capitalize it. Only capitalize the "O" in open access if it comes at the beginning of a sentence or title.

The article Open Access in Andorra has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Lacks notability. No need to write (or copy) an article for every country, if nothing can be said about that country and it hasn't received the necessary attention required by WP:N
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 11:43, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

You are obviously getting a lot of messages and notices
editIt would really help if you could get a handle on WP:RS and WP:CITE to help the articles that you are creating - to have adequate WP:V for WP:N - it would also help if you get a handle on projects tags on the talk pages. Please feel free to ask anything about anything - cheers JarrahTree 10:40, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Also, probably a clear understanding of the way that WP:LEAD works in the initial sentence, and also the initial paragraph in wikipedia articles... well worth checking out very carefully... JarrahTree 11:04, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello JarrahTree I have been migrating lots of content from UNESCO Global Open Access Portal, Please check links below https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_Nations/Open_Access_Descriptions http://www.unesco.org/new/en/communication-and-information/portals-and-platforms/goap/
all the articles are sourced and all the unesco goap pages have this tag "The content of this page is available under CC-BY-SA IGO 3.0." Is there is a way to contest the deletion of all the above pages at once? Any help would be much appreciated Filippo Morsiani
- I would strongly suggest that you go to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Open Access and Wikipedia:WikiProject Open project talk pages, and ask for help there from editors experienced in the area - I do not think saying it is from the portal is enough... There needs to be some attempt to WP:Wikify parts of the pages... my intuition is the lead paragraph/lead sentence in each needs to be more in tune with usual practice in wikipedia.
Go to the talk pages at Open Access and Open - In my opinion - you need to explain that you wish to have help in improving the articles - rather than contesting deletion - as once there is an established form or improvement - then you can always used a 'saved' articles as a template/model, and go to re-create. Buy there is always 2 sides to this - maybe an advocate from the Open or Open Access project is able to help you to argue the validity of your articles. It can go both ways. Never give up, and always realise that there will be people prepared to help you. JarrahTree 12:41, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
I am wikifying some of the articles that have been copied over into Wikipedia, one significant problem is that not everything that is in the UNESCO Open Access articles is suitable for Wikipedia, such as contact details for organisations. Creating an intro for the Wikipedia article is obviously important, and if you would copy over not the entire UNESCO article (be a bit more selective about the parts you move over) it would save a lot of work. I do think this is an important initiative and on balance the UNESCO articles are a good start for a Wikipedia article. Peabodybore (talk) 08:51, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
I will chip in: please learn how to add proper categories to your article (ex. [1]), talk page notices (see talk page of article I linked), please add hyperlinks, please attribute sources properly (you state the article is under a CC license, but you don't name the source). It is great you want to help, but your articles are very messy. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:05, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Filippo Morsiani. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Open Access in Puerto Rico, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Sourcing and categories
editI'll need to add my voice to those above recommending that when you create a new article you include in-line sourcing (or, at worst, some kind of sourcing), as well as applicable categories. It's great that what you're adding is already compatible with the copyright Wikipedia needs to work with, but including both of those things would be a great assistance.
Additionally, I can see from some of your recent edits that you've indicated that your articles are sourced, which I assume is a reference to the "List of Publications" section. While those may well be the references you're intending, it's not entirely clear from the articles you're creating that that's the case. You may want to have a look at WP:IC for an explanation of how best to do this, as it covers the process everyone is at least trying to work within. Feel free to reply either here or on my Talk page if you have any further questions. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 07:18, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Open Access in Palestine, State Of
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Open Access in Palestine, State Of requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.unesco.org/new/en/communication-and-information/portals-and-platforms/goap/access-by-region/arab-states/palestine. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. editYou may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove an Articles for deletion notice or a comment from an AfD discussion. I've given you a final warning as you purposely removed nearly a dozen or more AFD notices on articles. Do not remove them unless the discussion has been closed and consensus reached. Article creation
editThe huge volume of articles that you have created that have been deleted or are marked for deletion is bordering on disruptive editing. It's great that you are adding material but you need to do it properly and follow procedures. Please learn from these guidelines and the advice given above. If you don't, you risk getting blocked. --Brookie :) { - like the mist - there one moment and then gone!} (Whisper...) 15:28, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Open access in France
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Open access in France, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for Deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - Please address the concerns voiced in the deletion discussion before re-posting the article. If you want to contest the outcome of the deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Open access in Vietnam), you can use deletion review. —Kusma (t·c) 13:17, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Deletion process
editIn the interests of trying to prevent a poor outcome for a user who still seems to have his heart in the right place, I think it might be a good idea to summarise some of the issues regarding the deletion process which seem to be tripping you up of late. Please remember that every single person who's put a template on this page is trying to help both you and Wikipedia in general, but doing what you're expressly being counselled not to do is rapidly becoming disruptive:
- Editing pages at Articles for Deletion: If an article you create or read is listed at AfD, there's nothing wrong with editing the article itself. The issue is when you remove the tag saying "this article is currently being considered for deletion, please click here to see the discussion". In other words, if the article on (to take a hypothetical) open access in Vietnam says that there are 15 institutions participating and you realise that's a mistake, you're perfectly free to replace "15" with the correct figure. Removing the link to the AfD discussion, however, is expressly not allowed. The tag itself even says so. That's because people are able to click on the link in the template and contribute to the discussion about the deletion. No link, no ability.
Contributing to Articles for Deletion discussions: You're welcome to contribute to these, but you need to do so when the discussion is open. In relation to the "Open access in Vietnam" discussion, it was closed in the middle of July. Jumping into it ten days or so after it was closed (and the wording at the top says things like "Please do not modify it" and "No further edits should be made to this page") isn't the way to go. There are, as you've been advised, other methods to retrieve deleted content. Once a deletion discussion is closed, most users stop paying attention to it, because consensus was reached.
- Side note: I can see that you tend to have periods of inactivity between edits, and it may well be that a number of these deletions have happened while you've been busy. While I can appreciate that that's annoying (it happened to me some years ago that articles I'd created were deleted while I was on holiday), that's how it goes. I've suggested before that it may be worthwhile creating new content as a Draft first and then moving it into Mainspace when it's ready, and that way you won't run the risk of someone "killing it off" behind your back quite so easily.
- Recreating deleted content: Not a good idea, as you've probably seen already. Once an article is deleted through AfD, simply recreating the same wall of text is something which an admin can delete on sight. No discussion, no objection. Just zap and gone. I've seen users get blocked for doing that too many times, too, so I'd really suggest another way around.
A couple of other thoughts, too, which have occurred to me. I understand that your "goal" is to get articles about open access into the main body of Wikipedia. That's admirable, it really is. Can I please ask you to have a look at the way articles normally look around here, though? You'll probably see that they aren't just undifferentiated walls of text - they have links to other articles and so on, for one thing. You'll also notice that there's a manual of style that we all try to use, and that phrases like "Palestine, State Of" really aren't in keeping with that. I know that's how the original text might put it, but that's because UNESCO's manual of style is different to Wikipedia's.
In fact, it might be worth your while to have a look at the "adopt-a-user" program. There are plenty of highly-experienced users out there who'll be happy to step you through everything you need to know in order to create really good articles. I don't have the time to help in this regard, sadly, but there are some very good people there, including a couple of other admins. If you have further questions about this, please feel free to ask on my Talk page (or that of the user adopting you, if you go that way). BigHaz - Schreit mich an 23:27, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
