edit

Hello I have reverted your changes to AnsaldoBreda as I don't believe it can be called "offensive to Italy" to record that the customer had some publicised problems with the product, and because unlike the statement in your edit note the quoted source does contain the quoted statements. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gio. Ansaldo & C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mechanical (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Categorisation of articles

edit

Hi FAM1885. Before doing mass-categorisations of articles, please read carefully Wikipedia:Categorization, in particular "A central concept used in categorising articles is that of the defining characteristics of a subject of the article. A defining characteristic is one that reliable sources commonly and consistently define the subject as having—such as nationality or notable profession". Architects often design hundreds of buildings during their career, and one being for Olivetti does not make them "Olivetti people". --ELEKHHT 05:12, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries, again

edit

Once again, could you add edit summaries to your contributions? It really helps other editors. You can use abbreviations freely; some examples are shown here: Wikipedia:Edit summary legend. Thanks. -- Brianhe (talk) 03:09, 9 April 2013 (UTC)   Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Moto Guzzi Stelvio a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.Reply

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Incorrect change of WHS name

edit

In several articles Pompeii you and another anonymous editor (which I assume is also you) (Villa Poppaea, Oplontis, Herculaneum) changed the name of the WHS designation from

Archaeological Areas of Pompei, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata to: Archaeological Areas of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Villa Poppaea

The UNESCO website proves the first one is correct: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/829

I undid all your edits to the articles you mentioned. Next time can you please make sure your edits are factually correct? --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 11:25, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok, then I understand. But about bringing them in line with the relevant Italian pages, it seems to me like those – https://it.wiki.x.io/wiki/Oplontis for example – already use the correct translation of the English name used by UNESCO? --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 22:04, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of the Roman Churches template

edit

I am going to suggest deletion of the template altogether. I do not see how it adds anything not found in the category sections or articles on the churches of Rome. I am one who does not favor the over-templatization of Wikipedia. Maybe such a link can be made part of the architectural navbox for these articles. I can understand that the landmarks article bring together highlights of different types of structures. I only have to figure out where to list the proposal for deletion.Rococo1700 (talk) 04:45, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 06:04, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

On categorization of Churches in Province of Macerata

edit

First thank you for helping me out on the articles. Encyclopedic coverage often leads to blindness to errors, specially during translation.

Second, I was told in past, and if I recall, in general the policy is to make categories with more than 3-5 objects. I would avoid making a category for churches in a town, when that category has less than 3. It is possible that all those mentioned could end up having more than 3 entries per category. At some point in the future, I am tempted to make a larger category: Churches in Italy, without regards to era, location of style.

Thanks. Rococo1700 (talk) 01:00, 26 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:AnsaldoBreda high speed trains

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:AnsaldoBreda high speed trains requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay.
