Re: Electric bicycle laws
editAnything you can do to make the sections less a regurgitation of the law and more a Wiki article is much appreciated. It's such a terrible article that honestly, anything will help. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 06:00, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I'd love to help, but can you be more specific in regards to the "poor reference material"? As there's quite a number of existing references. Erth64net (talk) 07:08, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- That article need so much improvement. I would start by removed all the silly POVs which are not referenced. Good luck. --CyclePat (talk) 01:38, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
No offense, but instead of talking about obviously-needed changes and improvements, just do it. If you're taking an unreferenced POV and massaging it into a statement with references....well, why not? As for the e-scooters vs gas-scooters; sure, keep the gas-powered references to a minimum, but...don't forget they are relevant from time-to-time. For example, my state's laws intermingle X size gas or electric motor in the same sentences. It seems silly to remove what's effectively a very valid reference & comparison point. Anyway...I'll help and contribute as I can, but my personal schedule these days is pretty full. Erth64net (talk) 14:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Canada per your question re electric bikes
editNice to see another KDE Linux user. Canada has federal standards but provincial administration. In practical terms, this means that the feds fund things if the provinces agree. But traffic, including bikes of all kinds is a provincial responsibility. Hence the differences province to province. On things the provinces realize are big items, they will discuss and make an agreement, e.g., shape of signs or words on them, whether you can turn right on a red light and if you have to stop or not first (now you do everywhere in Canada). No idea if this helps. The main issue with e-bikes is that the provinces accept the basic federal description of them, but them fully decide all by themselves how to regulate them, so we have everything from fully legal to extensive restriction. Hope this helps. I actually printed out local provincial law here so I can show it if ever stopped: these bikes are not frequently used here. Kind regards --Fremte (talk) 02:37, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Splitting Motorize bicycle into two articles
editI wanted to make sure that you had seen my discussion re: my plans to split Motorized bicycle into two articles, one of which will deal exclusively with ebikes. Please let me know if you have any input. Thanks! Ebikeguy (talk) 20:23, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
