Speedy deletion nomination of User:Dragonfly5660
editA tag has been placed on User:Dragonfly5660 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because... (I am a student completing an assignment for my MSVU LIBR 2100 course and do not understand why this page is being tagged for deletion. Please advise. I am being marked on this assignment and it is due today. If it is deleted, my mark will be negatively impacted. Please respond. Thank you. ) --Dragonfly5660 (talk) 23:30, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Sandbox moved
editHi Dragonfly5660,
I wanted to drop in and clarify what happened to your draft content today. It looks like an editor patrolling new pages mistook your draft materials for content that isn't inappropriate for wikipedia--that's why you got the deletion notice and the tag on your user page. The editor who reviewed the tag (and felt that the content was perfectly ok, which it was) decided to move your user page and its history to User talk:Dragonfly5660/sandbox. As a result, you looked at your user page and saw nothing. I understand that that must have been confusing. I was certainly confused for a bit. None of your work has been deleted (including past edits) and you can still edit on that page as you see fit. I'm not sure yet why they moved it or why they moved it to that place (as opposed to User:Dragonfly5660/sandbox which is where your sandbox normally lives) but I've left a comment on their talk page asking for an explanation. I'll update you when I get more information. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:46, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- I am shocked that Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk · contribs) knows so little about Wikipedia conventions that he cannot reply himself. A user's primary user page is for that user to tell the rest of us about themselves. Article drafts should always be in user sub-pages. At first glance user talk:Dragonfly5660/sandbox seemed to be entirely discussion about two articles so I moved it to a talk: page. I now see it is a mix of article material and discussion so I am relaxed about whether it should be in user: or user_talk: space. However as a bit of hyper-pedantry, I have moved the first edit back to your user page because that is where it should be. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:37, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for all your feedback @Adam (Wiki Ed) and RHaworth:. I will be demonstrating to all the students in the course Education_Program:Mount_Saint_Vincent_University/LIBR_2100:_Introduction_to_Research_in_the_Information_Age_(Summer_2015) how to move their assignment content to their sandbox pages. It may take a couple of days for everyone to receive the message but the class will soon be compliant with Wikipedia conventions. Librarydenyse (talk) 19:55, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
