Your username and your images

edit

I'm not sure if you're aware of it or not, but there is a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver named David Gilliland. Therefore, despite the fact that you've said that this is your real name, you should probably file a username change request at Wikipedia:Changing username, because your current username currently does not meet the username policy.

Also, please provide source information for the images you uploaded. Even if you use {{PD-self}}, you should still say where the images came from in the summary (for example, you can say you took the pictures yourself if that's indeed the case). If you don't, they could be deleted. --Coredesat 02:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

How does a NASCAR Racer violate the username policy if this person has the same real name? I would encourage the person to state their claim for keeping their name in view of the fact that "well-known living or recently deceased people," is the only classification that it could come under, and the well-known bit is debatable in this case. The person in case has only had 1 pole, 1 win, and 1 top ten placing, which hardly makes him well known. Ansell 02:23, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Point taken. The image concern is still valid, though. --Coredesat 02:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
However, to avoid any confusion they are most welcome to change their user name at their own discretion! I just thought it was a not-so-clear case before. Cheers, Ansell 08:38, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Here's what I've done

edit

I have submitted the following username change request to help alleviate the potential confusion:

Current name: davidgilliland
Requested name: DaveWGilliland
Reason: To avoid confusion with the NASCAR driver David Gilliland who has an article written about him on the site.

Since I basically only registered in order to be able to edit/spruce up the article about U.S. Rep. Tillie K. Fowler (for whom I served as Chief of Staff during her 8 years in Congress), I would offer the following article (see the 2nd to last paragraph) as evidence that there is indeed another David Gilliland!

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/031506/met_21356548.shtml

As for the photographs, of the 10 I have posted in Tillie's article, 6 were taken by me, and the other 4 are photographs that were Tillie's. None of her photographs have "copyright" marked on them so what do you suggest I put down to alleviate any concern?

Thanks.
David W. Gilliland 03:45, 4 November 2006 (UTC)David GillilandReply

For the six pictures you took yourself, you can just say you took them yourself (which you have, so you're good). For the others, you'll need to provide the source so we can figure out what category they'd fall into, because there's a chance they may not be public domain. --Coredesat 22:20, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Requested Page Move

edit

Per your request, I have moved Tillie Fowler to Tillie K. Fowler. The reason you were unable to execute the page move is because Wikipedia policy does not allow relatively new users to move pages. --TommyBoy 06:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tillie K. Fowler Article

edit

Since you have recently made several major edits to the Tillie K. Fowler article, I thought that you should know that serious concerns have been raised regarding the article's content. See the article's Talk page for details. --TommyBoy 01:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

In response to your question regrding the Culver Kidd Wiki-link, I was not neccessarily planning on creating an article on him, but you or any other interested Wikipedian may use that link to create an article. If you are not planning on creating an article, leave the link as is, just in case someone else might want to do it. --TommyBoy 04:45, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rename

edit

As requested, I have renamed you as User:DaveWGilliland. You should now move your userpages to the new name. Warofdreams talk 04:23, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your user talk page

edit

I went ahead and moved your old user talk page here, since it wasn't moved before, and you couldn't move it at the time. --Coredesat 08:14, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tillie K. Fowler

edit

In the event that you decide to resume editing articles on Wikipedia, your assistance may be needed in creating in-line reference citations for the Tillie K. Fowler, since you were previously a major contributor to that article. --TommyBoy (talk) 03:01, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
