Orphaned non-free media (Image:BREWCO USPS badge3 copy.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:BREWCO USPS badge3 copy.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. re-prod of Hispanic Racing Team

edit

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Hispanic Racing Team, which you proposed for deletion, because its deletion has previously been contested or viewed as controversial. Proposed deletion is not for controversial deletions. For this reason, it is best not to propose deletion of articles that have previously been de-{{prod}}ed, even by the article creator, or which have previously been listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article, but feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! -Gwguffey (talk) 07:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

So you know, I would comment to keep it if I found it at AfD. Royalbroil 14:07, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's different if they never even raced. The article doesn't say that. Why don't you nominate it for deletion at WP:AFD after you add that fact to the article? Royalbroil 14:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sam Belnavis

edit

A tag has been placed on Sam Belnavis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Barely any encyclopedic notability, much less content in general

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Speedy deletion of Jiffy Lube

edit

A tag has been placed on Jiffy Lube, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~**_mustafarox_**~ (talk) 17:51, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Saintshadow2.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Saintshadow2.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:KimCrosby05.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:KimCrosby05.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 16:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

edit

You have been granted with the rollback permission on the basis of your recent effort on dealing with vandalism. The rollback is a revert tool which can lessens the strains that normal javascripts such as twinkle put on the Wikipedia servers. You will find that you will revert faster through the rollback than through the normal reversion tools such as javascripts and the undo feature, which means that you could save time especially when reverting very large articles such as the George W. Bush page. To use it, simply click the link which should look like [rollback] (which should appear unbolded if you have twinkle installed) on the lastest diff page. The rollback link will also appear on the history page beside the edit summary of the lastest edit. For more information, you may refer to this page, alternatively, you may also find this tutorial on rollback helpful. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 20:33, 17 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/D-Day 3

edit

D-Day, I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA as unlikely to reach consensus: there was an 3:10 ratio against the request at the time of processing. However, don't be downhearted by this: I can assure you that your contributions are both highly welcome and valued—many editors have failed their first request for adminship, only to sail through later and become well-respected administrators.

You may wish to review the Guide to RfA before submitting future nominations, as well as well as here and here, both of which list the more highly-supported RfAs. Additionally, admin coaching is a useful aid for editors interested in becoming an administrator. If I can assist you at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. You uploaded a fair use image on the article that I think should be removed as it is replacable. Instead of nominating it and you getting some sterile template, I thought that you should have it speedy deleted with {{db-author}}. I keep finding flickr images of older racecars. I find more than what I have time to upload! I'm uploading a set of all of the 1997 racecars that raced at Pocono in 1997. I can find more but I stopped looking. Let me know if you want the task. I mean that this one Image:Cup car 55.jpg needs to be deleted. Speedy it? You should respond below my next question so that I have something to point to in case someone asks. Or would you rather I do the IFD standard nomination and you get to receive some bot message? Royalbroil 19:56, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I ran across another one. I'm sure a bot message will follow. Can I have your permission to speedy delete any fair use image of yours on sight if I replaced it with a free use image? Royalbroil 02:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:RandyTolsmaTruck.jpg.

Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 20:06, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sneaky vandal

edit

I found the extensive amount of sneaky vandalism and misinformation that Dan Wilson, Jr. (talk · contribs) and Dan's IP 69.207.39.37 (talk · contribs) placed in NASCAR-related articles. Fact checking at racing-reference.info found all of it to be bogus, and I have reverted all of it. Placing misinformation is disruptive and disruption is a blockable offense. The username could easily be permanently blocked since it is used only for vandalism. Let me know if it continues or post at WP:AIV. Be suspicious, and feel free to revert either contributor if they continue posting bad information.

I cross-posted this on your talk page after posting at WP:NASCAR since I know you watch for this stuff. I saw that you reverted some of this vandalism. Royalbroil 21:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MorganDollar logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MorganDollar logo.gif.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Cup_car_44.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cup_car_44.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 19:01, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Steve Addington

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Steve Addington, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No apparent indication of notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Oo7565 (talk) 02:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I did a complete rewrite on the article over the past few weeks - it had cleanup templates on it. I just nominated the article for WP:GA. Please review if you have a chance and are interested. DYK Article you created

edit

Hi D-Day. My name is Ched (as will be obvious with my sig .. lol). I recently expanded an article you created Rex White and nominated it for a WP:DYK. The hook I used was "At 5'4" 135 lbs., Rex White was the smallest person to ever win a NASCAR championship. It's the first DYK I ever attempted, so if you want to check it (it's under the March 12th section), and change anything then that's fine. Just thought I'd let you know. — Ched ~ (yes?)/© 19:02, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It has been suggested to me by an admin to ask you to insert {{db-g7}} on the article for speedy delete or you could just put it back somewhere private.regards (Off2riorob (talk) 21:22, 12 April 2009 (UTC))Reply

Orphaned non-free image (File:WHSLogo.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:WHSLogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NW (Talk) 03:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dgilliland.jpg.

Thank you. Royalbroil 05:27, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

DYK

edit

I'm at 99 DYKs now and I want my 100th to be something special. I'm thinking about doing a large 5x expansion to some major NASCAR driver. Nothing is jumping out to me as being something that needs huge expansion. I spent over an hour looking at the stub and start class NASCAR articles and I didn't come up with much. The best thing that I could find it Banjo Matthews needs it real bad. I was hoping to take some big name NASCAR driver of Harry Gant's caliber. Has any article ever jumped out at you? Royalbroil 02:39, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

My friend User:Ched Davis had a great suggestion. He suggested David Pearson. I want a big name driver, not a so-so team. Another one that I found was Tim Flock, that would be a better candidate. I love the thought about having a monkey riding along in a race car causing the driver to fall from a second-place finish to a third-place finish because the monkey went nuts! Maybe I'll make Flock my 101st DYK or the 100th DYK that I actually wrote (subtract out the 10 nomination-only DYKs). Thanks for your thoughts! Royalbroil 00:52, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Cope-contreras.jpg

I added the table of the 2009 class because it was the last race and I put the drivers to get that sorted and not needed to be added later on. Plus, I put the leaders under bold and under parenthesses (Current Leaderr). Gunselman Motorsports

edit

Hello.I am the author of Gunselman Motorsports. I noticed that you are trying to merge my article with Larry Gunselman's. I do not understand why you would want to do that. Both articles have planty of notability to stand alone. I was wondering what your logic was. Please explain your point of view to me. Thank you--Johncoracing48 (talk) 19:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

The team will be competing "full time" next year. They are a legit Sprint Cup team. I don't see what the problem is with keeping it as a stand alone article. It seems strong enough to me. I haven't had any problems with spam. Honestly, I think it would be a waste of time to move it. Eventually, it will be strong enough to stand alone by your standards. I think it is fine as it is. It also makes your List of NASCAR teams article look better. It would be the only Cup team without it's own article.--Johncoracing48 (talk) 19:33, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree with John, and I have left a comment opposing the merge. You haven't been doing proposed merges right, for you missed several steps. You can find them at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers. Since someone objected, this is now a controversial merge. So you need to list it at "Proposed Mergers" if you want to continue the merger proposal. I expected that you would have known about things like this before now. I'm puzzled why you keep trying to delete articles about notable topics like smaller NASCAR teams and start/park drivers. Apparently you're not seeing what the rest of Wikipedia is doing. I have already promoted a DYK article about a Major League baseball player who pitched one inning (or was it one/no outs). These start and park drivers are just as notable as this baseball player was. Royalbroil 03:33, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I'm contacting you as a significant contributor to Elton John. I am concerned that such a high profile article on a living person is so poorly sourced. It is a matter of priority that statements are sourced. See Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Quotations from Elton John or any other person must be closely cited, as per Wikipedia:Quotations. If reliable sources cannot be found then all contentious material should be removed - [1]. It is better for us to have no material at all than to have incorrect, misleading or potentially libelous material. Will you help to source the article? AfD nomination of Waterloo Middle School

edit

An editor has nominated Waterloo Middle School, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Waterloo Middle School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 02:53, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Could you let me know if you are still interesting in being involved with Admin Coaching, or if you would prefer to have your name removed from the "reconfirmation" list. If you want to be involved, could you please move your entry from "Reconfirmation" to "Active" and indicate how many students you would be willing to have (obviously, if you are actively coaching at the moment, then please indicate this!)

Geneva City School District

edit

Hi! I noticed you posted stuff.

Please think about what an encyclopedic article would look like. These long lists of former administrators are not worthy and are not encyclopedic. Please look around at Royal National College for the Blind for what a school article would look like.

Also do not mention private schools in the article. They are not a part of the school district at all. Catholic schools may be mentioned in the article of the archdiocese that they are a part of. WhisperToMe (talk) 01:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Waterloo High School (New York)

edit

Thanks for your contributions to the Waterloo High School (New York) article. Unfortunately, many of them—such as the bell schedule and the lists of former administrators—aren't appropriate for an encylcopedic article. Please make sure you read the article talk page, where I have spelled out why they are inappropriate with links to appropriate Wikipedia and Schools Wikiproject policies and guidelines. When you reverted my removals, you also removed a references tag (the article has zero references) and restored incorrect subheading titles. Additionally, not all parameters of the infobox need to be utilized. For instance, the superintendent section is so the box can be used for school district articles while the street address parameter is one option over the location parameter (both shouldn't be used together). Take a look at Plano Senior High School, a featured school article, which will give you an idea of what the Waterloo High School article should look like eventually. Please also make sure you read and become familiar with Wikiproject Schools article guidelines. Joining that project wouldn't be a bad idea either if you are interested in editing this and other school articles. Any questions, please ask through user or article talk pages. Thanks! --JonRidinger (talk) 16:01, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Just a friendly reminder to please refrain from placing the lists of former principals and former administrators into high school and school district articles like you repeatedly have on the Waterloo High School (New York) article. Those lists are not appropriate for Wikipedia articles and will continue to be removed as the violate Wikipedia policies on content as well as the Schools Wikiproject guidelines. If you would like to keep the information, I would consider making a sub page of your user page (User:D-Day/Waterloo) as a place to store it. --JonRidinger (talk) 22:14, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer permission

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

Speedy deletion nomination of Aero Exhaust

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aero Exhaust requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 06:10, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:NASCAR BuschSeries RockinghamSC CarlLongFlips.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:NASCAR BuschSeries RockinghamSC CarlLongFlips.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:55, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of ARCA drivers

edit

The article List of ARCA drivers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Outdated, indiscriminate list that duplicates Category:ARCA drivers

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hey there D-Day. Back in November, you got either an AfD or PROD notification and it was during one of the template testing project's experiments. If you could go here and leave us some feedback about what you think about the new versions of the templates we tested (1, 2), that would be very useful. New York state school districts

edit

Please stop adding extensive lists of former administrators and bell schedules for individual schools to school district articles. In the end, you are wasting not only your own time by doing this, but my time (or any other editor's) as well in having to go through and remove these over and over. Become familiar with the Wikipedia Schools Project, in particular, the article guidelines. Lists of former administrators are not appropriate and serve no real encyclopedic purpose for the article. Wikipedia articles are to inform about the subject (which is the district itself) in a thorough, but still general, way. They are not to be overly detailed and specific, especially in trivial things like former administrators. The only former administrators (and by that measure former teachers and students) who should be listed are those who are notable. The best rule of thumb for notability is if a Wikipedia article exists for the person. If so, that person should be listed in the appropriate article (generally, notable alumni are listed in the school article and not the district article). Also, you do not need to use academic titles when referring to administrators (such as "Mr. John Smith" or "Dr. Emmett Brown". Instead it would just be John Smith and Emmett Brown). I outlined some of this at Talk:Waterloo Central School District#Information. If you have any questions, please ask! Thanks! --JonRidinger (talk) 01:07, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Blanket2.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Blanket2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Cope-contreras.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cope-contreras.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 14:36, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Page moves

edit

Please do not move Phil Parsons Racing to Humphrey-Smith Racing. PPR is NOT HSM. HSM is a team affiliated with TriStar, an entirely new team; PPR's history is included in the existing article. Whitney Motorsports merged with PPR, but Whitney's history is not PPR's. Your moves of these articles have been reverted twice; further undiscussed moves could move into disruptive editing territory. If you think the articles need to be moved, you need to use WP:RM, however as the articles currently do reflect the correct histories of their teams, I would suggest leaving them as is. - The Bushranger One ping only 10:14, 27 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

New elementary school articles

edit

Hello,

I noticed you recently recreated the page William J. Grabiarz School of Excellence, an article about an elementary/middle school in New York. The article was the subject of an AfD that was closed as redirect because 2 people agreed it did not have independent notability at the time. Furthermore, you created International School (Buffalo, New York), also an elementary school in New York.

The established consensus for elementary/middle school articles is that most of them are not independently notable unless they have a clear claim to notability that has been referenced in significant coverage from reliable sources. Do you think you could clarify on how these subjects meet notability guidelines?

If they aren't notable, we should probably redirect them to Buffalo Public Schools.

Assistant principals et cetera

D-Day, there is no way in which those long lists of assistant principals and other personnel (in East High School (Buffalo, New York), for instance) is of encyclopedic value. Whether a list of principals is notable isn't even clear, but I have not removed any of those. In addition, your talk page is over 200 k long, making it almost impossible to type a message, so I am giong to cut this short. Please consider archiving it. Speedy deletion nomination of School 81

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on School 81 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Roberticus (talk) 22:41, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Geneva City School District, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ithaca High School. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:32, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition

edit

The article NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

10 years of being tagged, without adding sources to establish notability? Time to go!

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 2607:FCC8:F249:4C00:91A:38C9:1257:50C7 (talk) 07:09, 10 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Articles containing too much detail

edit

Hi, whilst randonly fixing typos I stumbled across a few articles on North American schools which I discovered contained a huge excess of trivial and irrelevant detail. I started to remove the worst of these (such as tables of bell schedules throughout the day). I then noticed that a few of the most bloated of these articles had been expanded by yourself. So, as a matter of courtesy, I thought I'd drop you a note by way of explanation. You've clearly put in a lot of effort recently, and you should be applauded for that, but I fear that too much intricate detail actually weakens the value of these articles. I've not deleted the huge year by year lists of adminstrators and other trivial matter that I've found in some of them, but I do believe that deleting wikitables of timings of when classes change actually made the article more accessible. I think users should be referred to school websites for such matters, especially as they're likely to change from year to year, and editors can't be expected to keep on top of such minutiae, so I hope you'll agree and understand the reason for my edits/deletions.

There's a useful and brief discussion on this at WP:EXCESSDETAIL and also at WP:INDISCRIMINATE if you're interested. I also noted that some of the articles on school districts (e.g. Cheektowaga Central School District) duplicated and hugely expanded on content on shorter and better articles (in my view) on individual schools (e.g. Cheektowaga Central High School), which I think is really the wrong way round. I've no idea if these were your edits, and it doesn't matter either way, but if you have an interest in these articles, you might like to consider merging some of the content and moving it over, and flagging that up that there is another main article on that topic. Hoping this all makes sense, kind regards Nick Moyes (talk) 02:32, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Joey Jamison

edit

Hello, D-Day

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Joey Jamison, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Assistant principals, Mr./Mrs./Ms./Dr., and excessive detail

edit

Greetings. I've noted that you had contributed very significantly to various schools and school districts. Thank you for this work. However, you are including an excessive amount of detail in listing past assistant principals for various schools, and are creating redundant tables that list superintendents that were previously listed, or are in the improper pages (lists of past superintendents on school pages). Please be aware that per WP:RFCSCHOOLADMIN, we are no longer including personnel other than superintendents and principals. Assistant principals are not to be included, nor any other lower staff. Also, please note that we have a manual of style which dictates against using "Mr.", "Mrs.", "Ms." and "Dr.". See MOS:MR, MOS:MS, MOS:MRS, and MOS:DR. Please amend your editing moving forward.
