Syd Shores
editI hope I do not appear harsh, but it's bad form to reinsert a disallowed edit. You have made only two edits to Wikipedia, the same each time, and each time it has been an unverified claim. You need to cite (i.e. footnote) an authoritative published or online WP:SOURCE, as the summary for the edit undoing your September 17 edit pointed out. Before editing any further, may I ask that you peruse the Five Pillars of Wikipedia and learn the policies and guidelines regulating additions and changes that reach encyclopedic standards. Thanks. --Tenebrae 04:43, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
I am not sure how to properly cite my edits when it is I who am the source. I am Syd Shores' daughter and would like the information provided about my father to be as accurate as possible. If you can assist me in going about accomplishing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Hi, Nancy. I'd be glad to help. One of the most important things I can say is that there is no way to ascertain that you are really Syd Shores' daughter. I don't mean that in any suspicious way — I'm 99.99% sure you are. But because there's no way to be sure that any person is who they say they are — and I'm sure you've read newspaper articles about incredibly convincing Wikipedia-editing hoaxes — that one of the most important policies of Wikipedia is the one linked here: No original research.
- This policy means that any claims made in an article need to be verified by a published (print or online) and cited source — specifically, one meeting the standard of reliable source (such as newspaper, magazine or academic-journals articles, official websites, acknowledged experts' websites, etc.). It means that personal reminiscences, or information gleaned from personal knowledge, can't be used — because there's no way to verify it through a published source.
- Unless, however, you first create the official Syd Shores Family website, as the family of comics pioneer Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson has done at MajorMalcolmWheelerNicholson.com. Once a Syd Shores Family site is established, and considered credible, you can footnote information at Syd Shores with a citation linking to the pertinent page of that site.
- Please note there are conflict of interest guidelines, but I'm sure you'll able to work within them.
- I hope this helps, and please contact me anytime for whatever further help I can give. Syd Shores was one of comics' seminal pioneers, and I'll personally never forget his incredible inking of Jack Kirby on Silver Age Captain America. It's an honor to speak with his daughter. -- Tenebrae (talk) 19:41, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
