To WikiProject Ports members:

I've proposed that WP:PORTS be rebadged as a task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject Transport. I think this would increase the pool of ports editors and help us expand our article range and quality. Proposed deletion of Sergei Lepmets

WP:NSPORT is the main guideline governing the notability of athletes, and other sports-related people. It effectively says that footballers are notable if they have played for their country's national team or in a fully professional league. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:08, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

Reviewer permission

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:10, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

List of ancient cities in Thrace and Dacia

edit

Salut! Any reason to remove the bold marking from List of ancient cities in Thrace and Dacia. Is not part of the style of every article?! Just wondering! Regards!--Codrin.B (talk) 20:40, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is part of the style but not very used in lists. BineMai 20:44, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Are you sure? What about: List of ancient Greek cities, Lists of office-holders, List of unincorporated communities in Iowa, List of rulers of Thrace and Dacia, List of rulers of Illyria. I think it looked better before though and more consistent with the other lists. Let me know what you think.--Codrin.B (talk) 20:50, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
When i submitted my List of tallest buildings in Bucharest for WP:FL a number of editors asked me to de-bold the words resembling the title located at the beginning of the sentence in the first paragraph and i thought that the style has changed but maybe this is only available for featured lists. I don't know what to say but if you think it looks better in bold change it back, i don't mind at all. Cheers BineMai 20:57, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
But if you look at List of rulers of Thrace and Dacia you can see that the bolded text looks better without the Thrace and Dacia wikilinked. Let's try this at List of ancient cities in Thrace and Dacia. What do you think? BineMai 20:59, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good idea, let's do that.--Codrin.B (talk) 21:02, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Done. BineMai 21:06, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Cool! Thanks! ;-) --Codrin.B (talk) 21:22, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Salut! Now, why would you remove links to redirects/ancient cities and point to modern cities? It was much cleaner that way, plus some of those redirects have potential for expansion based on the content from history sections within the corresponding modern cities. I would rather keep links to the ancient cities instead. --Codrin.B (talk) 04:32, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

And on top of it, many of those redirects from ancient city to modern city are actually {{R to section}}, pointing directly to the ancient history section of the modern city. I think that was very valuable too. Additionally, some question the continuity of some of the ancient cities till modern times, prompting for separation of the two concepts in different articles. Sorry to insist, but I think you should consider reverting the changes. I see mostly disadvantages. Unless you have a good reason that I miss. --Codrin.B (talk) 04:42, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

More Romanian help

Hi again Bine Mai, I'm working on an article about Julian Assange's lawyer, (Mark Stephens (solicitor)) and have a source saying that he helped to draft freedom of information laws for Romania in 2005. Hi!
You are the author of the article Konin Coal Mine. Title of this article is ambiguous... If you want write about whole mine, you should titled this article "Kopalnia Węgla Brunatnego Konin" or (eng.: Brown Coal/Lignite Mine Konin). If you want write about pit lignite, you sholud titled this article "Pit of brown coal Pątnów" (Konin pit is official called Pątnów pit), because Jóźwin, Jóźwin IIB, Drzewce, Tomisławice, Kazimierz Północ (North), Kazimierz Południe (South), Morzysław, Niesłusz, Gosławice and Lubstów are/were pits of brown coal included in the "Kopalnia Węgla Brunatnego Konin", not separate coal mines. Hello

edit

I'm trying to get people who are willing to help me out with a pet project I've begun but realised that it will be extremely hard for me to even make a small dent in. First of all, I got your name from the list of active members on the wikiproject for mining articles. Please disregard this, if you're not interested.

So, here's what I'm trying to do and what you could do to help me. I noticed that there were very few articles that list mines. I've tried (to the best of my abilities) to create a sub-page that lists all of the probable articles for lists of mines that I could think of, you can review this here.

Basically, I need help. Suggestions on different lists to add, I need lists created, if the lede I've been using should be changed, I'd like community consensus on the standard layout (I've been going with listing articles like List of gold mines by country and List of mines in the United States by output. If someone would like to make templates for these articles.

Please, don't feel obligated. I came to you, and others like you because of your implied interest in mining articles. List articles are not exactly in everyone's taste. If you are completely uninterested, but think you might know someone who might be, please let them know about it. I could use all the help I can get.

Oh, and if you happen to create any new articles on mines, please add them to any of my recently created lists. Sorry for this being so wordy, have a good day and happy editing! Ncboy2010 (talk) 22:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request for help concerning energy...

edit

Hi,

I noticed you listed yourself as a participant of the Energy WikiProject.

There are 2 new outlines in this area that attempt to consolidate Wikipedia's coverage of their respective subjects, gathering and organizing the articles about them into one place and including descriptions for convenience. The purposes of these outlines are to make it easier for readers to survey or review a whole subject, and to choose from Wikipedia's many articles about it.

The new energy outlines are:

Please take a look at them, and....

if you spot missing topics, add them in.
if you can, improve the descriptions.
add missing descriptions.
show parent-offspring relationships (with indents).
fix errors.

For more information about the format and functions of outlines, see Wikipedia:Outlines.

Building outlines of existing material (such as Wikipedia) is called "reverse outlining". Reverse outlines are useful as a revision tool, for identifying gaps in coverage and for spotting poor structuring.

Revising a work with multiple articles (such as Wikipedia) is a little different than revising a paper. But the general principles are the same...

As you develop these outlines, you may notice things about the articles they organize. Like what topics are not adequately covered, better ways to structure and present the material, awkward titles, articles that need splitting, article sections lacking {{Main}} links, etc.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Outlines.

Thank you. Sincerely, The Transhumanist 00:45, 2 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Uranium mines in Namibia

edit

Hi Bine mai, namibnut again about uranium. I am slowly figuring out how things work, so apologies if this is the wrong way to address these issues. After reading about Aussinanis and writing a message to you, I clicked on the Uranium mines in Namibia link and now realize you have made all the entries there. May I point out some detail that might just be important as far as Wikipedia is concerned. There is a major distinction between a mine and an exploration project. Currently only Rössing, Langer Heinrich, Trekkopje and Husab can be called mines. Husab is in the process of construction, so one can call it a mine. Valencia is called a mine because there is a signboard on the road that says "Valencia mine", but they never advanced beyond the mid-exploration phase. The reality is that none of the other projects are further than advanced exploration. Even Trekkopje is technically still constructing, but have actually shut down because of the poor economy. Some of the Reptile projects (e.g. Omahola) and Zhonge Resources have received mining licences but it is unlikely that they will be developed soon; the uranium price is far too low for economical extraction and will remain like that for some time to come. Namibnut (talk) 10:16, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Aussinanis mine Namibia

edit

Hi Bine mai Please advise me. I noticed your name on the revision history for "Aussinanis mine" in Namibia. I am curious where you got this information, since it is wrong, this mine does not exist. To have an open pit mine generally there should be an open pit. But there is none. I can send photos if you like. The reference given for the erroneous information also does not mention anything about it being such a "large" deposit. It is only a low-grade deposit of uranium known since the 1960s. The Aussinanis project is still in the exploration phase. I know all this since I work 5km from the deposit and drive by there very often. I honestly think this deposit does not warrant a Wiki inscription. It is relatively small and low grade and currently uneconomical. Its only newsworthy value is that the state-owned mining company Epangelo has obtained a share in it. This whole entry should be deleted. But I don't know how to do this. Apologies if this sounds stupid, but I have never had to do anything like this before. Namibnut (talk) 11:32, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If they should go ahead, they will threaten the existence of the Gobabeb Research and Training Centre, as well as settlements of the Topnaar people living along the Kuiseb River. There has been much concern about this in Namibia - articles that state that there exists an actual mine is WRONG, and will only serve to confuse the whole debate. More importantly, the citation you gave for the entry about Aussinanis mine clearly does NOT state anything of the sort. It does not say that it is a "large open pit mine". Here is the sum total of text where Aussinanis is mentioned:

"Reptile's Aussinanis project, also a palaeochannel deposit, near the coast about 60km south of the others. It has 6976 tU indicated and inferred resources at about 0.02%U, and the hydrocyclone technology tested on TRS has potential application here. . In January 2013 Deep Yellow agreed with Namibia's Epangelo to transfer its Aussinanis and Ripnes projects into a new company, Yellow Dune Uranium Resources Ltd. Epangelo acquired a 5% stake in Yellow Dune to fund test work and confirm that the Aussinanis deposit can be upgraded by beneficiation. Reptile holds 85% and Oponona Investments 10%. If the test work at Aussinanis is successful, Epangelo will become the operator of the joint venture and would earn up to 70% in Yellow Dune by funding the project through to a bankable feasibility study. Reptile's holding would then shrink to 20%."

More information is available on Deep Yellow's website.

Surely a key aspect of Wikipedia is that sources should be correctly cited?

Please correct the entry.

Oil shale mines in Serbia

edit

Hi, Bine Mai. You created a number of articles about oil shale mines in Serbia. However, these are not mines but deposits. There is no oil shale mines in Serbia at the moment or any oil shale industry. Beagel (talk) 20:20, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Bine Mai

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Koridor coal mine

edit

Hi Bine Mai, Thanks for your contributions about various mines in Turkey. But I couldn't find a source about so-called Koridor coal mine. I also checked your 19-pages source, still no luck. Can you please specify the page. Happy editting. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 09:44, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your immediate reply. I looked up for the mine named Koridor on the map. I am afraid this is not a mine. Koridor in Turkish means "aisle" (corridor) and the name aisle on the map seems to represent the empty area between two mining sites (Collolar coal mine and Kışlaköy coal mine). Cheers.
