Draft:'Twas Brillig

edit

Thanks for contribution to Wikipedia and for putting in the effort to create an article. I have reviewed the article and note that it doesn't yet meet the criteria for notability and contains content net yet supported by reliable sources. Please read our notability guideline and also explanation on reliable sources. Personally I find the golden rule very helpful in understand what is notable and what isn't. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need any help. Flat Out (talk) 00:23, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey Flat Out, thanks for leaving a message. I'm trying to get the image deal sorted out, however, I have questions about the sources and notability. I'm arguing that there the given topic of "'Twas Brillig" warrants its own Wikipedia page. There are countless published Wikipedia articles on various musicals, some of them arguably less notable and more stubby than the article "'Twas Brillig." My sources are the very best source for this article- the information official Playbill, which contains casting and creative information, as well as independent journalistic articles. Thanks so much- I look forward to you helping me improve this article. The Music Man 04:22, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi Andrew2lu im sure there are other articles that don't meet the criteria but that isn't a reason to let yours through. To meet WP:GNG you need significant coverage in secondary sources independent of the subject. Palo alto online is not a reliable source as anyone can post and there is no editorial oversight. I'm not sure about http://regardingarts.com/ because the site doesn't explain how reviews are done, but this one source is not enough. Flat Out (talk) 04:31, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Flat Out Yes, anybody can post in the Palo Alto Online forums, however the article cited is from the Palo Alto Weekly extension of the site. Palo Alto Weekly is an award winning local newspaper with editorial oversight. They publish article on the site in addition to weekly hardcopy by post. If you look at the article on the website and look next to the author's name, it says it's from the Weekly. Additionally I do have a hard copy of the article if that helps in anyway. I'm not sure about Regarding Arts either, however, in the article it is used as a primary source. I don't cite it for fact, rather for opinions regarding the show itself as nearly all articles on musicals have. Thanks for all your help- I do appreciate it. The Music Man 04:40, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Andrew2lu please sign talk pages posts using the four tildes ~~~~. Local coverage of this type, even from a reliable source, won't get the article across the line. Flat Out (talk) 04:45, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, then what kind of sources qualify to allow an article regarding a musical onto Wikipedia? The Music Man 04:48, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Reviews by reputable sites, news articles (not local news). Flat Out (talk) 04:52, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'm rather confused at this point. What information on the 'Twas Brillig article requires a news source to cite? If it's about casting information, for example, rarely does a journalistic work publish comprehensive information about the full cast. The Music Man 04:56, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
You can use primary sources to confirm cast, direction etc - but for the subject to be notable it must have received significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. The subject has not received significant coverage. Also PLEASE sign your posts by adding the four tildes ~~~~ at the end of each post. Flat Out (talk) 05:06, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:'Twas Brillig Playbill.png

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:'Twas Brillig Playbill.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.playbillder.com/show/vip/A_Theatre_Near_U/2015/_Twas_Brillig_18147. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
