Image source problem with Image:Evanna Lynch.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Evanna Lynch.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:22, 29 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Deskana (banana) 12:22, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Image:Evanna_Lynch.jpg listed for deletion
editAn image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Evanna_Lynch.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Deskana (banana) 16:12, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I did not realise I had used the incorrect rationale in uploading this image. On the BBC website where I found them it is listed as saying that they found the images and I'm uncertain of the actual copyright holder. Sorry for the trouble with this image and thanks for pointing out the errors. AiselneDrossel 16:23, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Ji Ling.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:Ji Ling.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I wrote in the discussion page that I uploaded the wrong image by accident. Which I'm sure is grounds for immediate removal; thanks for contacting me. AiselneDrossel 10:29, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

editDo you need some help in creating this page? Frickative 10:24, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
I am currently in the process of creating this page whilst working on a casualty template; if I require help I shall respond here. Thank you for your offer. AiselneDrossel 10:26, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean when you say Casualty template? The current 'Holby' template encompasses Casualty, Holby City and HolbyBlue as they all exist in the same fictional universe. Frickative 10:28, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm making a table for the episodes in series twenty because they're just a list at the moment and that doesn't include airing dates. AiselneDrossel 10:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I wanted to let you know that you created your sandbox in the main article space, which means that it could be deleted at any time. To make sure that doesn't happen, I recommend that you move it to a user subpage, as described here. After you have moved the information, blank AiselneDrossel/sandbox and tag it with {db-author}} and it will go away. If you need help, let me know by posting here, or on my talk page. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 15:10, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
I've moved it to User:AiselneDrossel/Sandbox, is that correct? Thanks for pointing this out. AiselneDrossel 18:52, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Regarding the table format you introduced to this article's cast list: I'm afraid the current format for episodes/serials was decided at project level. It might be worth addressing this issue on the project talk page, to see whether there's any interest in changing or varying the format. Cheers. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 12:02, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
This is what I posted in the discussion for the Wikiproject:
I introduced a table format for the cast over on Human Nature (Doctor Who episode) and I am willing to do this for the 'new' Doctor Who episodes if it is agreed this format is better; this was my reason for introducing it in the first place but as someone kindly pointed out the format had already been decided; I think the table improves the proffesional feel of the article but I'd like some feedback from project members. Thanks. AiselneDrossel 12:12, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Again I appreciate you ponting this out. Thank you.
- You're more than welcome. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 12:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Your sandbox
editUmm... I deleted User:AiselneDrossel/sandbox because it had {{db-author}} on it, and it fit the criteria (only edited by you, deletion requested by you). Therefore, I assumed you no longer needed the sandbox. You should have instead requested that the redirect created by the move be deleted. I have restored the deleted edits. They are available in the page's history. android79 15:07, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Writing character articles
editOkie dokie, basically, it's pretty easy once you've done one or two. The most important sections to write about in a fictional character article are Creation - so, who the character was created by, where they fit in in the context of the show, how the actor or actress was cast - Development - things like the character's personality, their major storylines, what the writers were aiming for etc - Storylines - detailing their plotlines on the show, although this should really be quite brief and no the focus of the article, because a good article will focus on the character and their notability beyond the confines of just the show itself, and - Reception - discussing how the character was received by the media, if any of their storylines attracted complaints or praise, if the actor won any awards etc.
The most important thing is the be able to source what you write. So for instance, you can't write 'Mad May was a nutcase.' because that's your opinion, obviously, and not encyclopedic :p But you can write "Joe Blogs from The Guardian described May as "a total nutcase"." and then add a citation to where it was said. The way I start writing an article is to search all the big news sites - The Guardian, The Times, The Independant, The Sun, The Mirror, DigitalSpy etc etc - for stuff related to the character. So quote from the actress, or show's producers, or reviews by journalists. Then I'll make a list of references (WP:CIT is really helpful in learning how to format them) and then take all the relevant quotes and begin to mould them into an article. An example of this is at User:Frickative/Sandbox5 where you can see that I've finished a couple of sections about Jac Naylor and the rest is just in the form of quotes loosely sorted into sections, waiting to be written into proper prose. And for an example of making a list of references, I added a ton to Talk:Whitney Dean, just so you've got an idea of what I mean.
Another good idea is to read WP:FICT, just to get an idea of the policies and guidelines around writing about fiction. Then get back to me when you've waded through all this :) Frickative 20:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

The article Template:Sam Janus filmography has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unused template created against established consensus. No real reason why this can't be speedied.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on [[Talk:Template:Sam Janus filmography|the article's talk page]].
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bradley0110 (talk) 22:16, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
